asked on Send Connector Using Smart Host (SOA Record of DNS)
Trying to understand the Send Connector configured used smart host and smart host is SOA Record for our DNS?
Resolve-DnsName mail.xyz.com
Name Type TTL Section PrimaryServer NameAdministrator SerialNumber
---- ---- --- ------- ------------- ----------------- ------------
Domain.com SOA 300 Authority dns.Domain.com hostmaster.xyz.com 410570147
Would you be help to understand the below? Where the emails are being sent by looking below send connector configuration?
Send Connector configured on Exchange On-Premises as Delivery using Route mail through smart hosts -- mail.xyz.com
Scoping:
- Domino.Consul.mydomain.com Cost 1
- Domino.mydomain.com Cost 1
- Domino.gradeus.com Cost 1
- Domino.discountmydomain.com Cost 1
Source server:
2 Exchange 2016 Servers.
When I checked where its resolving to by Resolve-DNSNAME pointing to our internal DNS server.
So question is - Is this normal to point smart host to DNS?

It is normally FQDN.
AKAIK it has nothing to with SOA
Just add smart host mail.xyz.com in your send connector.
