Server rebooting with 1611-Fan2 Failure error HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8, any ideas to resolve issue?

Hi, I have an issue with a server which is rebooting with a fan error.

Error is 1611-Fan 2 Failure

Intel Ambient Temperature: 23C/73F

Fan Solution Not Sufficient

It then loads up to the OS and after 1 min it shuts down and restarts . Before shutting down it pops up with a message you're about to be signed off, the system has lost cooling.

System information:

Model - HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8

The server has a Heat Sink on the CPU

It is not a fan cooling system.

Any idea what the issue can be?

It does have 2 fans according to the manual. They just aren't on the CPU heatsink. If it is an old Server, it might be enough to clean out all the dust, also from the fans, then the fans might run again.

Your Thermal paste between the CPU and the heatsink might have issues.

HPs tend to lock if Fans do not work.

The failure might relate to the FAN's sense/tachometer signal side is dead. board can not read FAN speed consistently, i.e. it may see out of range info..

Issue indeed was the fron fan, it was working on and off, once changed, no issues
