How do I set up Outlook?

I am running Windows 11 pro and trying to set up Outlook in Office 365.   AOL handles Verizon email.   I want to set it up as IMAP or POP.   What incoming and outgoing servers, encryption  and ports do I use?   I believe my outgoing server requires authentication.

When you put in ypur email when prompted, it should load the Verizon server information

Usually you want SSL on the incoming side and on the outgoing side use 465 SSL.

Look Verizon outlook setup, and you'll get the same info.
Here's a nice resource. Heads up that once in a while my Verizon AOL account gets locked up and I have to request a temporary PW

Since Outlook works on my other devices, I do  not want to change the password.   Is there any way to see the settings on one of them so I can copy item?  If I try to see them, it just allows repair.

I know the password.   I need to know how to set the incoming and outgoing server, as well as which ports to use.   Outlook works fine on my other computers, some use POP, others use IMAP.
Outlook uses the autodiscovery, once you provide the email, does it not populate the server information?
The only item of import is make sure incoming server uses SSL with ports 993 or 995 based on your respective choice of IMAP or pop.
With outgoing server SSL port 465.

Which domain does your address use?

Comment regarding password deals with multi-factor authentication.
If you enabled additional sevurity, outlook will likely fail to authenticate, while it can provide username/password it will likely not handle the final step.

Consider logging into your web interface and see if app password is even an option.
Note the web portal is likely to include the information that you are seeking.
There is no multi-factor authentication set.   Autodiscovery does not populate the server information.   Nothing seems to be working.   Can someone who uses Outlook 365 and AOL for emails please tell me what to do?
The info should be part of the info aol/Verizon provides.

What message do you get when putting ypuremail@aol.com

It has a check box that lets you manually add the info.

I tried the recommended settings but Outlook failed to connect to the incoming server.
The info is not correct, the imap/pop on aol.com addresses are no longer valid. the services are not operational.

Can you still access the URL via the web site?

Try using the Yahoo mail servers, while providing your aol.com credentials.

I can log into Aol.com, put in my username and password and see my emails from there with no problem.   I will try your suggestions about Yahoo.
make sure to use the full username@aol.com as the login username in the test.
In the test, I was using username@verizon.net not username@aol.com  Was this wrong?
Is your email uses the AOL account or the verizon one?

When you are entering the email address for the account, there is a Advanced settings, if you expand and check the box before proceeding, it might offer more options.

You should use the email address that you see if you were to email yourself. is it using @aol.com or @verizon.net?
AOL.   If I send an email from AOL to myself it goes to username@verizon.net and appears in my inbox in Outlook.
Thank you, I had not thought of that.
if you sernd from your verizon to your aol address.

I have no access to a VZ nor an aol address.

At times, some mail providers include an option where they can configure their mail to retrieve email messages from other providers, consolidating all your email in one location.

aol offers on their main page a way to access their pages using the yahoo or google sign-in (linking, external authentication system)

adding the username@aol.com at the new email account setup in outlook while at the same time, click/expand the advanced option/settings below the email field, and tick the box for manual.
Initially, your username/password will not validate as the AOL based servers are not responsive (they are defined, but they do not accept requests)
Nothing is working.
If you login into aol.com what instructions/information do they provide for the incoming.outgoung server? Did they mention that they are retiring those servers and will transition your aol.com email to another for the purposes of access/retrieval?
There are no instructions.   I just enter my name and password.   My original password had two # characters added to it sometime in the past.   I have no idea why.
I mean, when you login at aol.com web site, I think they have a help section that could help.

Ran into issues with some users who always used a web browser to access their emails and then decided to access as you have using a Client application like outlook, thunderbird and the like. The issue with those Yahoo and I think it was goodle, within the account security settings, there is an option to allow the account to be used with email client, that option had to be enabled. THough in those cases the yahoo and google servers were listening and through which an attempt could be made where they displayed an error/response that pointed to checking if the access was authorized. in your aol.com situation, the imap and pop and smtp servers are listed, but are not accessible from anywhere.

See the following link, confirm in your AOL.com that you allow your account to be accessed by apps.

https://www.nucleustechnologies.com/blog/how-to-access-aol-email-account-with-outlook/
There is no option on AOL to allow the account to be accessed by apps.   Perhaps that was available in an earlier version.
unfortunately, it seems the web based access is the only one you have.
I do not think if they are weeding out or forcing people to migrate to ..

TRy the following.
Go to yahoo.com if you already have a yahoo.com address, open an incognito/privacy browser window to avoid having your existing yahoo session, cross leak.

now, when you logging in, use your aol.com address. go through what they are asking and see whether this is the first step to get your aol.com email trasnitioned to yahoo and perhaps once you complete this, you will have the option to authorize access to your aol.com based email address via the yahoo mail services.
I seem to remember in previous installations of Outlook that yahoo was used as the incoming mail server.   I will try your suggestion and see what happens.   Thank you for your patience.
