Windows 10 doesn't recognize ASUS VS228H-P 21.5" monitor with VGA cable

Hello,

I have an ASUS VS228H-P 21.5"  monitor with 1920x1080 true resolution.
It has a Vga and a  DVI connector.
I could use perfectly without any problem with my previous computer (Windows 10) via the DVI connector.

However on my new computer (also  (Windows 10 ) I could only connect it via  VGA cable, because it doesn't have DVI (only HDMI and Display port).

I don't know if this is the reason but the new computer detects it as a Generic Monitor NPNP (non plug and play) and the maximum resolution 1440x900, so it it very blurry.

All the drivers I can download are not compatible with Windows 10.

What can I do? Is it a software related problem or should I buy a converter to Display Port?

Thank you!

You were right. The reason I didn't try another cable before was that this was a brand new cable, freshly bought so it didn't occur to me that is can be bad. Thank you!

HDMI is backward compatible with DVI-D (digital).  Buy an HDMI to DVI adapter for a couple of bucks and you'll be shed of this problem, plus there won't be the smearing and fuzz associated with the VGA analog signal.
