How to connect printer to the home network?

Trying to set up Brother printer to print wirelessly.

If I connect printer with cable to the laptop, it prints.

If I connect printer to the cell phone tethering wifi, devices connected to the same wifi network can print.

To connect I use network name and password.

If try to connect printer to the netgear wireless router, type network name and password, it is not connecting.

Why?

Thank you in advance.

Could be a 5G vs 2.4 G?

Is your network transmitting on both and does it have the same username / password for both the 5G and 2.4G networks?

The above suggestions are good. I would just add one more - check the security settings (e.g WEP vs. others like WPA). Some printers were a little late in adopting support for newer, more secure wireless authentication, so some of them might only support the old (and very insecure) WEP, which your router might have turned off.
This is the best money I have ever spent. I cannot not tell you how many times these folks have saved my bacon. I learn so much from the contributors.
