Instructions on how to generate certificate with Internal Certificate Authority for vSphere

In my other question here I described how I receive an Invalid server certificate message while trying to log on to vSphere using PowerCLI.

I was advised how important it is to create a certificate for the vSphere server to fully secure the communications and that this can be done with my organization's own internal certificate authority server.

So I'm looking for step-by-step instructions on how to generate a certificate with Internal Certificate Authority for vSphere.

Do you have a Microsoft Certificate Authority server ? (this is going to be long and very involved!)

Also what versions of vCenter Server and ESXi do you have ?

ASKER

Yes, my organization does have a Microsoft Certificate Authority server.

We are using vSphere version 6.7.
