I need to install the .Net Framework 4.8 on several Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019 servers.

The reason that I ask is because my organization uses an application called Aeries.

Aeries just sent us this email saying that the .DOT Net version needs to be upgraded to version 4.8.

So it should be safe for me to upgrade to .Net version 4.8 using the instructions they have provided below and using the URLs provided above on the Windows servers that run Aeries?

REMINDER

Last night, Aeries posted a major release update requiring Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8 to be installed on your Microsoft Windows Servers (Aeries Web and Reporting servers). This is necessary due to Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2, 4.6, and 4.6.1 reaching end of life for Microsoft support on April 26, 2022.

As we all have security at the forefront of our minds, we know Cybersecurity threats and attacks have increased over recent years making it clear that we must keep our servers updated to the most current releases and updates. Most of you, our clients, are diligent in keeping operating systems updated and patched to the most current releases, so most of you probably have Microsoft .Net framework 4.8 installed on all your servers and will not need to do anything.

For clients who do not have Microsoft .Net Framework 4.8 installed, the update is simple. Microsoft provides documentation,https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/framework/ , with an Overview, How to Get Started, Installation, Migration, and Troubleshooting.

Please be aware that LEA’s are owners of their network and servers. Our Aeries DBA team can guide your technical staff if any issues arise during the upgrade process, simply open a FreshDesk ticket.

The Aeries team has spent quite a bit of time testing all areas that the version update could affect, but we may not have caught everything. If any issues arise from the new version release, please create a Freshdesk ticket withPossible .Net Framework 4.8 issue in the subject line.

Sincerely,

Aeries IT Services
