Remove One Drive from File Explorer Navigation Pane

I would like to know the easiest and the safest method( no registry if all possible ) to remove One Drive from my Navigation Pane in File Explorer. See Screen Capture. Also, I would like to know how did it land in the navigation Pane in the first place. I don't recall ever adding it there at any point in time.

Thank you,

How to Remove OneDrive From File Explorer
  1. Go to Control Panel and select “Programs. “
  2. Choose “Uninstall a Program or Settings.”
  3. Click “Apps,” then “Apps & Features,” and OneDrive should show up in the list.
  4. Highlight OneDrive and choose “Uninstall.”
i hope it helps

Hi nobus,

I am not trying to uninstall One Drive. I do use it I just don't want it in the Navigation Pane. I do have Revo Uninstaller Professional version to uninstall it if I wanted to. Can you answer my question on how did it wind up in the Navigation Pane?

Thank you nobus,

Hi Basim, from your screenshot, that is your quick access. Right click on the item and select Remove From Quickaccess.
Hi nobus,

I will give that a try and see how things go. I will let you know.

Thank you,

Hi Scott,

I wish it was that easy but One Drive unfortunately is not Pinned to Quick Access. I know if I usually pin something to Quick Access I can unpin it easily but that's not the case here.

Thank you,

Hi Nobus,

It looks like that fix had worked to remove the One Drive icon from File Explorer. I do have a couple of questions for you.  I would like to mention. Q1. There was a mention of 32-bit for the DWORD value and I have 64-bit. I put in 0 ZERO regardless and it worked. my question why is there NO specific distinction in the suggested fix for 32 and 64 bit and same in the REGISTRY it does not specify the 64 bit. Q2. This is the third time I am asking you the same question that I had asked about in my original question and the following post, and I still got no reply from you. How did the OneDrive icon winded up in the File Explorer navigation pane?

Thank you,

Basem Khawaja

i can only suggest  that - if you don't like the way MS handles it's software, you can always swith to ubuntu, Linux or others

if i had a better answer, i'd given, you it from the first time, i only try to help,
you can always ring the bell, and ask for more help - other guys may know more

Hi nobus,

">>  my question why is there    <<  why questions can only be answered after  you have found the cause, see also below"

That's what I was trying to find out by asking you several times in the previous posts. If I know what is the cause I won't be asking for an answer.

"and I still got no reply from you. How did the OneDrive icon winded up in the File Explorer navigation pane?   <<      this is the 2nd time i say MS keeps pushing their products, and every update they seem to install them again "

I did read your answer the first time it's just that I don't really think that's case. Because One Drive is still on my PC. I only have one installation file of it if Microsoft installed it again. I am not sure what is causing it to migrate to File Explorer on it's own without me having anything to do with that.

"i can only suggest  that - if you don't like the way MS handles it's software, you can always swith to ubuntu, Linux or others"

I do realize that NOTHING in this world is perfect, but I been happy for the most part with Microsoft OS and I have been using this OS for a very long time and I am most familiar and comfortable with it. I t will take me a much longer time to start learning a new system like Ubuntu or Linux and I am sure I will wind up more than likely with more issues to deal with than I would with Microsoft. Thank you anyway for the suggestion.

I am sure you would. I don't doubt you for one bit. Had you at least told me so that I know I would not have to ask you again. I have seen on many occasions some experts don't really read my question that I am addressing and give me answers/suggestions to only some issues/questions that I have addressed but not all. I am also that I can ring the bell for a Moderator's assistance which I do use that on occasions when I see that my question has been neglected. I did not feel that I needed to that in this instance since you were trying to help me.

Thank you nobus,

Basem Khawaja

my guess is that One drive landed in the navigation pane at the time MS installed the app, so even if you remove it (uninstall it completely from add/ remove programs) it may be re-installed later with updates
