Help deciding replacing Microsoft Office 2010

Hi Experts!

I have been for some time here trying to get the office to get MSO 365.  The issue of mails & To-Do's no longer working in MSO 2010 has made it more probable for the subscription.  Today in a meeting I was presented with options to to help make a decision for MSO 2010 replacement:

  • Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
  • Office Online
  • WPS Office
  • FreeOffice 2018
  • OnlyOffice Desktop Editors
  • Open Office

I am biased to MSO, but I have to be as objective as possible taking in consideration cost, compatibility of docs saved, VBA or similar and expandability & dependability (if a solution will not be present in the next 5 years) for future.

I have begun searching and have series of links to read and gather the proper info for decision making.

So, my dear Experts, in u guys opinion and if u have gone thru this scenario, which option above or one not listed, would optimally replace our MSO 2010?

Thank u in advance.

Note,

Tha majority of apps used within MS 2010 is Excel, Words & Outlook (though Outlook has been reduced to Windows Mail due to the exchange configurations of the MS accounts).

Thanx guys good enough for me!

Actually I was talking about LibreOffice, not OpenOffice, even though both have the same roots.

OpenOffice first got acquired by Sun, & then that was bought up by Oracle. Although the product was still free after that, I don't think it was strictly "OpenSource", so some of OpenOffice's founders decided to to create their own, OpenSource Project, using the OpenOffice Code, & called it "LibreOffice". Both are still very closely related, but as far as I know LibreOffice is less dependent on Java than OpenOffice is. As it is OpenSource, you can also get it easily via normal repositories for almost all Linux Distro's, while OpenOffice isn't that easy to install.

If you get formatting problems, that usually isn't a problem of Libre/OpenOffice, but rather because some Fonts might not be easily available under other OS's, as they are copyrighted by M$.

i too was thinking about LibreOffice - must be @rindi  who confused me.

i have a version of my Ubuntu machine...

(i'm 75 +, i really don't need anyone else to confuse me)
