What WPS button to press first? Printer? Router?

How long do I hold each one?

Thanks

Doesn't matter which one is first.  As long as you do them within a short period of time like a minute, it should work.

I see nothing happening, but expected the WPS light to flash on the Xerox.

With a router there are steps to take involving time.

Wi-fi Protected Setup (WPS) is the easiest way to setup the printer on a wireless network.

However, not all wireless routers support WPS.

My router is new from Verizon FIOS, and has a button that must be WPS. It shows two chain links, connecting to each other.

I agree, in that I don't recommend WPS for most users.  I assume this is for a residential setup?

Some routers, you need to login to the device and enable WPS, or turn on the WPS action (like as if you pushed a button).

I agree about not using WPS, but if you want to and its not working, it may be a setting in the router config.  Many current routers have an option to turn off WPS.

Your Verizon router includes this note in the user manual:

Note: Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) cannot be used if WPA3
security is enabled or SSID broadcast is disabled or if MAC
address authentication is enabled with an empty white list.

You can download the user manual here:  https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/equipment/routers/fios-router
