Procedure to revive a laptop that went dead?

Lenovo T450; WIndows 11.  Computer suddenly died. I tried everything. Absolutely no power.  Last year, my W510 did the same thing. I thought the computer was dead.   Called a technician who led me through a procedure that fixed the problem. I should have written it down.  At one point, I believe you held down the power button for 30 seconds.   Any qualified techs out there?

Second question: Can a computer access the HD of a dead laptop without removing the hard drive?

"dead": I'd first confirm that it is getting power from the AC adapter.  There is typically an LED that illuminates when power from the AC adapter is present.  Does your laptop have such an LED?  If so, does it light up now?

Second question: no.  It doesn't look like it's too difficult to remove the lower panel and to retrieve the HDD, though.

To access a data on a drive, the drive needs to spin/get power.

Does the adapter in use, have a light indicator that it is getting power?
are there tears on the power connector that is being inserted into the laptop? Is the laptop port into which the power connector is inserted snug, or is it loose?
i.e. the power port might have gotten damaged and no longer creates the necessary contacts to power up the laptop.

CPR for laptops = drain flea power.
Evicting the HDD/SSD from that model means removing about 8 screws and then going around the edge with a spudger to get the back off.

good info and tips above

>>  Can a computer access the HD of a dead laptop without removing the hard drive?   <<   as said - it must have power, to be accessible- so the answer is NO

but tell us why you don't want to remove the Disk drive?

Great advice... but I tried per your instructions... still dead.

I didn't want to r/r the HD until I was reasonably sure it was dead.

"but I tried per your instructions": what did you determine about the power supply?  Is it lighting up a power LED on the laptop?
Take a look at page 9: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/t450_ug_en.pdf?linkTrack=PSP:ProductInfo:UserGuide

When you initially plug in the power adapter to the laptop, the led on the case should blink 3 times.  If you don't see any response, you may just have a bad power adapter.

>>  I didn't want to r/r the HD until I was reasonably sure it was dead.    <<  why?  it's a very common thing to do, and in most cases, it let's you backup your data

Ralph - is the problem solved? plse give some feedback
