Logon Attempt Failed - RemoteApp (Remote Desktop Services)

Good day,

I am having an issue in my environment where end users are receiving the below message (Logon Attempt Failed) whenever they attempt to authenticate while connecting to a RemoteApp (Remote Desktop Services). The app is being accessed using the rdp file.

I have attempted to solve the issue by setting the LAN Manager Authentication Level to level 3, which is Send NTLMv2 response only. This works for a while but then the issue reappears.

The client machines are running windows 10/11 and the RemoteApp servers are running Windows Server 2016/2019.

Grateful for any guidance in resolving this issue.

Are you putting in the domain before the username, use this format domain\username? If the computer is not in a domain put in the computer name before the username, in this format computername\username.

Are you connecting RDP externally to LAN? This isn't secure and shouldn't be done without using VPN.

The computers are apart of a domain. Using the format domain\username  produces the same error.

I am connecting internally. There is no external connection.

what happens if you try to connect using the IP address rather than computer name?

What operating system? Download RDP from the Microsoft store and test, it's free.

The icon looks like this.
