Help recording while Windows 10 locked, LED off and low quality
Hi Experts
I have been trying to setup my Dell laptop Cam to record,
- while Windows 10 screen is lock and
- have the led turned off while recording and
- make it use low quality (like 480p) to save disk space
I have found a link disable the Led via registry but didn’t work:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\AccessPage\Camera
I have found the apps OBS Studio (https://obsproject.com/) and
- works while lock screen :)
- but cannot turn off camera led
- Cannot get it to record low quality to have disk space (note, I did get to configure the video to resolution to 320x240 / FPS = 30, but it still saves the video as if high resolution 720p taking 21mb - i have tested Windows Camera and 480 takes around 8mb of a minute recording)
If any Experts knows OBS and how to turn off led while recording and have record low quality, would be great - or if any of the Experts know of a tool I can use to record with these feature, don't have to be OBS, would be great also.

is covering the led with tape an option?
- that is what I have been am doing now :)
You need to set a constant bit rate in the first place (CRF) and use the x264 encoder.
- Seems to work, couldn't find exactly verbatim what u indicated, but did the closest (see pix below) - it works super, 6 hrs of recording = 620MB (if I need something else let me know)
I am still searching to turn off the LED

Sorry for the delay, yes worked great, even more reduced storage in recording; 800mb for 9+ hours
