Troubles connecting Windows Outlook 2013 to Gmail for off-line email access

Greetings all,

I am supposed to be a "computer expert", but apparently not considering I am stumped by what should be the easiest task... that is, connecting Outlook 2013 to my personal Gmail account.

I've done this many times in the past (maybe the last connection was about 4 years ago?). After an Internet blackout (2 days), I decided to maintain a local copy of all my emails. No problem connecting Outlook to my Hotmail account... but Gmail is not working because I cannot authenticate (it's the correct password - I double-checked).

In the Gmail configuration:

- POP is disabled (not needed)

- IMAP is enabled

I think my troubles might be due to the "less secure apps" settings. I vaguely recall that I needed to set up a temporary access code, in place of my password, but I despite an exhaustive search, I cannot find this information on the Google pages.

I thought what I needed was located here, but I am not seeing it.User generated image

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

BTW, Please don't suggest another tool instead of Outlook 2013... although antiquated, I want the OST file structure because I have existing tools to index and search the OST format. I'm only using Outlook to offline-sync my emails.

Help! :)

ASKER

Probably not necessary, but here is the error that I see when I attempt to add a Gmail account to Outlook. I think this is because I need to generate a special one-time password from Gmail, but I don't recall how this is accomplish. :(

That's it!

Normally, I don't like short responses, but this is a perfect, succinct answer.

It works!

Thank you.

A picture sometimes says a thousand words

So, your response wasn't succinct. LOL
Thanks again, David.
