Dell Precision T1700 won't boot to Windows 10 unless installation disc is inserted
I have a Dell Precision T1700 with a newly installed SSD drive. I’m trying to install a fresh copy of Windows 10 Professional. When I install from a DVD, it installs fine and boots up as normal. But, if I remove the DVD and boot it up it does not detect a bootable device.
Is there any other HD installed? Did you check the boot order in the BIOS?
ASKER
No other HD installed. Boot order in BIOS is correct.
Can you post some images of your BIOS Boot order? In UEFI BIOSes the boot order doesn't always show what you would think it should. Also, remove the SSD & then show what boot order you have.

You may have done something wrong, I can't see it...

Why are you using "Legacy" rather than "UEFI" mode? I would use UEFI (but you you may have to reinstall the OS before it will work).
Hi,
indeed try UEFI instead of legacy. It could be that the legacy mode has issues with the size of your hdd being larger than 2TB for instance.

I've set it to UEFI and reinstalled the OS. It's still coming up the same saying "No bootable Device detected" when it restarts. I've attached the Boo Sequence page again. Should I be able to add a Boot Option?

Hi,
Try replacing the HDD with another one and try to install. It just might be your hdd.

I've tried the install with another HD and it's the same result. Both Hard Drives are Crucial MX500 1000GB SSDs.
Hi,
Maybe it's incorrect SATA configuration in the BIOS. ie. set to SATA III if possible.

Insulation disk, is it a USB stick, ,what letter does the OShave at boot?
You may need to rerun bootrec and bcdedit, the referencing might be off,
If you use boot manager and point directly to the drive without the usb present does it work?
Bcdedit, nootrec install booand and locate installed oS..

Hi,
that's indeed the best option for your disk. Have you tried to update the BIOS? There might be a later version available.

Latest BIOS for that system is installed.
is there any reason you install from DVD, and not from an USB stick? that's the easiest, and fastest way
use the methods from the MS Page : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

What do you have under advanced boot options?
ASKER
Advanced Boot Options attached.
I had originally installed the OS with a USB but the installation went in a loop and once I removed the USB key, it would come up with the "no bootable options" message.
