Transferring Pix on Mac Mini.

Hi Experts,

I have been helping my clients with several of Windows PCs, and they've asked me to:

Move a lot of photos to an external hard drive from their Mac Mini.

I'm not a Mac person, but is as simple as plugging in any USB drive and drag and drop?

Do I need to consider anything around their iCloud?

Can this be done remotely, or I'd better get it physically:

  • If Remotely: I use AnyDesk for Win PCs, and once I tried it on a Mac for another user - they needed change a setting internally.

  • If Physically: Do I need a special connector for the monitor ? I think fire... or thunder...?

Thanks all.

It depends on the where the pics are and what application it uses.  Most images can just be drag&drop.

Only if they have their images saved there.  With that, it's likely easier to get the icloud account and log in to download it if the system is remote.

Haven't used Anydesk on a Mac, but have used other remote connection tools and they just behave as the user.  Newer OS X all need the user to enable Screen Recording (to view the screen), Accessibility(to pass through kb& mouse inputs), and Disk Access (to access disk folders) in the Privacy Settings of the System Preferences for the tool to work.

If you're working lcally, you either need DisplayPort (older Macs) or Thunderbolt(newer Macs) for the monitor.

Hmmm.. If thhey are on iCloud, and if I get a USB drive and plug it in my Win 10, and transfer it that way... If I then give the client the USB Drive, can they open it on their Mac?
