Scan to directly to OneDrive Business account from an HP M479fdw MFP printer

I am having trouble getting my HP Color LaserJet Pro M479fdw to scan to our company's SharePoint online (or basically MS OneDrive Business account).

Currently, I have my users scan to their home drive (H drive).  However, I want to start the process of moving away from the H drive and start to scan to their OneDrive Business account.

The printer's IP is on the company network; the DNS is a public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4); I IP address into the printer, go to Scan to SharePoint, I copy/paste the OneDrive URL directly into the SharePoint path of the Quick Sets setup procedure; the domain, user name and password are all correct.  However, when I go to the printer and do a test scan, I get the following error message "The server is not supported.  Protocol error".  I believe (but I could be wrong) I have configured everything properly.

Before I asked this question, I have done research.  What I found is that this is not a simple process, if your SharePoint is online and not on-prem.  I read where I might have to setup a Power Automate flow within the user's OneDrive Business account, which to me seems a bit excessive.

I just want the user to: go to the HP M479fdw printer, click on scan, click on SharePoint, find their name, scan, and boom the scanned document appears in their OneDrive Business account, just like it would do if they scanned to their home drive, (their H drive) when using the scan network folder feature of the printer.

Can anyone help me -or- point me in the right direction?  It seems like a simple process.  The printer was purchased in December 2020 (a little over 2 years old) and I upgraded to the latest firmware earlier this year.  I moved the company to O365 last year (Feb-Mar 2022) and now that we have been on O365 for 1 year, I felt now is the time to start to migrate the users over to their OneDrive Business account.

I am stumped.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

use scan to onedrive vice scan to sharepoint

Send to OneDrive

HP Scan allows scanning directly to an existing OneDrive account. Select the Configure button prior to scanning to authenticate and sign in to your OneDrive account. Otherwise, you will be prompted for authentication and sign-in when the scan is sent. The duration of the authentication is determined by OneDrive. When the authentication expires, you will be prompted to re-authenticate when the scan is sent.
