What is a good VPN for monthly usage?

I do have a domain and a website, but that is going away. Meanwhile, I need a VPN for mobile computing.

What is a good service that offers this?

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by 'monthly'?

Is this about a vpn service to use while travelling for accessing internet (using public WiFi)? Or is it to access your home network?

This is to be used for traveling, but I suppose may also be useful while I am at home.

I do prefer a free service and the new worry of a performance problem makes me wonder if using my home router would be a top performing solution? Is that true?

Also, it seems like it would be the best from a security standpoint. Is this also true?

I can not find the model # for my router, but it was the new version just a few months ago from Verizon.

If you are wanting to use the VPN from home, my suggestion that it could be done for free with your router doesn't apply.

The router might be this one: https://www.verizon.com/support/verizon-router-cr1000a/ .  If that is the one, it does not natively support a VPN.  That is, you can't make a remote connection to the router with a VPN client.  It does allow VPN pass-through, where you would set up a VPN server on a computer at home and you could make a VPN connection to your home network with a VPN client to that computer.  That may well be more complicated than you want to do.
