Vmware Vcenter, IBM system storage 3524 transfer of logical drives and datastores to the new setup

Hi there,

I need to basically transfer (copy) all existing data from old setup to the new.  Please see below.

Existing setup:

IBM System server X3650 (running Vmware  6.7 Version17700523)

IBM System server X3650 (running Vmware  6.7 Version17700523)

IBM System Storage 3524 (directly connected to IBM System servers X3650, running 2 arrays and about 30 logical drives on different Luns)

Vcenter 7 appliance is installed on existing setup

New Setup:

Lenovo ThinkSystems SR650 V2

Lenovo ThinkSystems SR650 V2

Lenovo ThinSystem Storage DE2000H Hybrid Flash Array SFF Gen2

Questions:

Since I existing hardware has limited capability to run Vmware Esxi 7 We bought new systems from Lenovo.

1)What is the easiest way I can transfer (Copy) both arrays and logical drives from IBM Storage 3524 Existing setup to the new setup so that I can see exactly same datastores under New setup on DE2000H)? Does Vmware has any tool to accomplish this job?

2)Whether its IBM solution or Vmware I need to transfer all my VMs to the new setup with minimal downtime.

Guidance is highly appreciated.

There are a couple of options depending on your licensing. If you have Enterprise Plus, you can just do Cross vCenter Migrations. Even hot migration if your old environment is at least 6.5u2.
Another EE member and fellow vExpert Andrew Hancock has done a video on how to do this process:

https://www.experts-exchange.com/videos/79454/HOW-TO-Cross-vCenter-Server-vMotion-export-between-standalone-vCenter-Servers-7-0-not-linked-to-the-current-SSO-domain.html

If you do not have that, I have done some in the past where you put a standard switch on a host, migrate some VM's to it, then disconnect it from the old vCenter and connect it to the new one, then migrate them to the new environment. This is then done back and fourth until they are all moved. I did that for a 5.5 to 6.0 environment.
Outside of that, if you also have a product like Zerto, then that can to it too.

Thanks Rodney and Andrew.  I have decided to re-create logical drives on the new storage and use 'vcenter converter' to transfer one by one all vms.
