Sub-Zone Authoritative vs Delegation
I would like to know the difference between Sub-Zone Authoritative and Delegation
in Infoblox, if I create sub-zone as Delegation, I will have to specify Name Servers manually but if I create sub-zone Authoritative , there is drop down box that says " Use this Name server group". which in fact means use the NS of the parent domain.
However it is still not clear to me if I go Autoritative vs Delegation, then what is the difference?
Thank you

Will the Name Servers in other company have to configure the delegated zone on their side?
For instance, I have created subdomain xyz.mydomain.org in Infoblox DNS. Then the other company gave me their Name Servers and IP addresses, ex:
NS1.part.othercompany.net IP address xx.xxx.xx.xx
NS2.part.othercompany.net IP address: yyy.yyy.yy.yy
NS3.part.othercompany.net IP address: kkk.kk.kk.kkk
I added all 3 Names Servers to the sub zone xyz.mydomain.org, in my DNS (Infoblox).
this is a public sub domain(external zone )xyz.mydomain.org and the 3 Name servers have public IPs.
Now will the other company have to configure my xyz.mydomain.org in their Name Servers (NS1,NS2,NS3) ?
because for now, when I go for instance to MxToolbox.com and do the DNS lookup for xyz.mycompany.org I get the message:
"Sorry, we couldn't find any name servers for 'xyz.mydomain.org' ".
Thank you
Now will the other company have to configure my xyz.mydomain.org in their Name Servers (NS1,NS2,NS3) ?
Nope. Once the delegation has been created, anything that queries the mydomain.org nameservers for something in xyz.mydomain.org will receive a referral to the nameservers specified in the delegation.
As with any significant DNS change, give it a little time, and it should start working as expected. (Hopefully it is by now.)

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical, globally distributed system responsible for associating the name of a computer, service or other resource into an IP address for connecting to the Internet or a private network. Most prominently, it translates domain names to the numerical IP addresses needed for the purpose of computer services and devices worldwide.
