asked on

which engine oil is best/recommended for Toyota hybrid Sienta

Q1:

I'm looking for recommendations / reviews on best engine

oil to use on Toyota Sienta hybrid.

One workshop commented:

"Costlier Castrol 5w30 Fully Synthetic is suitable/excellent for Hybrid car.

If your car mileage low, can use Castrol 0w20 Fully Synthetic also which

is lower cost"

Q2:

I'm looking at a Toyota specialist but it's 5w20:

Toyota 5w-20 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 4L | Shopee Singapore

While another workshop uses the oil below.   So I'm lost which

is best for Toyota Sienta Hybrid?    Is 4L enough?

Q3:

Found another one below that has a statement it's genuine

Toyota oil (but it's still  0W20 & is this meant for high mileage?

TOYOTA SP 0W20 ENGINE OIL 4L GF-6A FULLY SYNTHETIC HYBRID CAMRY SIENTA CHR VOXY NOAH ESQUIRE ALPHARD ESTIMA AQUA PRIUS COROLLA ALTIS | Lazada Singapore

Q4:

If cost is a concern, I thought I may go economical & this one 5W30

(does the higher OW number mean it's better for high mileage)?

One workshop suggested 5W30 for high mileage but I can't assess

if that mechanic right:

Q5:

Link below claims Castro's 5W30 is suitable for petrol, hybrid &

diesel cars?   Hmm, any views?   I thought a specialized oil is

best.

attached the Year & make's owner manual:

 2017-toyota-siennaSienta-hybrid-owners-manual.pdf

From pg 603 of the manual:

■ Engine oil selection “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” is used in your Toyota vehicle. Use Toyota approved “Toyota Genuine Motor Oil” or equivalent to satisfy the following grade and viscosity.

Oil grade: ILSAC GF-5 multigrade engine oil

Recommended viscosity: SAE 0W-20

SAE 0W-20 is the best choice for good fuel economy and good starting in cold weather. If SAE 0W-20 is not available, SAE 5W-20 oil may be used. However, it must be replaced with SAE 0W-20 at the next oil change. Oil viscosity (0W-20 is explained here as an example):

• The 0W in 0W-20 indicates the characteristic of the oil which allows cold startability. Oils with a lower value before the W allow for easier starting of the engine in cold weather.

• The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the viscosity characteristic of the oil when the oil is at high temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity (one with a higher value) may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions

I live in a country where typical outside temperature

is 30-38 Celcius:

Can we mix  0W20  &   5W30 ?

Just thought that if I don't have enough

I can mix 4 parts of 5W30 with 1 part 0W20.

Can the oil below be used for Hybrid?  That

site did not mention if it's for hybrid but it's

certainly 5W30 as this local retailier is well

-known for its trustworthiness:

Hella V 5W30 Engine Oil - 4L | NTUC FairPrice

one other thing, the link below

'Castrol Hybrid 5W-30 is suitable for use in automotive gasoline and hybrid vehicles where the manufacturer recommends an API SP, ILSAC GF-6 '

However, Sienta Hybrid owner's manual pg 603 states 'Oil grade: ILSAC GF-5 multigrade engine oil '
