asked on

vSphere + migration

We have on-premises vCenter servers, and I am looking for an EE (Enterprise Edition) article on vSphere migration. Are there any articles that experts can recommend?"

Not sure what you mean.
Vsphere migration, change in licensing?

Andrew who responded to some of your questions along these lines, has several articles that you might find helpful.

VMware's + license model provides an unlimited vCenter license, which helps us save money instead of buying several vCenter licenses separately. Additionally, VMware + offers a core-based license for VMware Plus, which comes with some discounts. We believe it's a better option for us to consider, especially if we plan to move to the cloud in the future. Currently, we are on-premises, and we will remain on-premises for another year. However, due to VMware + , we will need to migrate all of our vCenter instances to VMware Cloud. This process involves more than just installation; it requires us to migrate our vCenter infrastructure to the cloud

A couple of YouTube's video  I came across that not much help.

Are you migrating your infrastructure into the cloud as well?

Licensing is always a pain and the most accurate is to check with the vendor, VMWARE in this case.

The existing vcenters in your existing setup, are they Subscription or perpetual?

You were buying in essential/plus type of three host/nodes (6cpus)?

If memory Serves, you/firm purchased a new product/support line.
Vsphere+/Enterprise....

Presumaly your need is to consolidate your hosts into a single vCenter that is not cloud based?

Are you migrating your infrastructure into the cloud as well?
No, only vCenter

up to you, yo want one or more, no extra cost for Vcenter, unless you add more esxi host

What are you migrating and from where, it's as simple as Migrate (providing) you have the bandwidth, and low latency as defined by a long distance migration.

from vSphere on Prem to vSphere in the Cloud (under Azure, AWS, or now Oracle Cloud)
