The difference between Distribution group and Security group in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure and Intune environments.
Hi,
This is a Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure and Intune environments.
It is related to the CRM which have different groups.
I am still confused with the DISTRIBUTION group vs SECURITY GROUP
Question: Somebody would explain a little bit (with your own wording) the difference related to the distribution and security group in Microsoft Azure and Intune environments.
Thanks,
Tjie

A security group has one thing a distribution group does not have and that is a SID (security identifier) which means the group can be used to given permissions to resources within Active Directory or Windows Servers.
A distribution group cannot do permissions, and a distribution group is generally used for grouping purposes such as mail.
