can I create a Restore point out of thin air?
Is it possible to get a data restore point prior to 10-31-23 on a server that has no backup running and no restore points and No previous versions in Place.
When I get a new client the first thing I do is attached to this Post.
you can do it if you restore the server to that date; that is if you have an image backup at the date you want
you probably want to create it on another disk or partition

The document indicates a Volume Shadow Copy snapshot that users could then right click and left click on Restore Previous Versions to do just that.
It's always a good idea to enable VSC for data volumes and have them snapshotted at the beginning of the work day, around coffee time, lunch, afternoon coffee, and then finally at the close of business.
If there are no backups, no VSC snapshots, no other file copy "backup" process like Carbonite then the answer is no.
