dual monitor question- adding a second monitor to my computer and using it vertically

I have a lenovo V530_15ICR pc and use it for work. I currently I have a 32" monitor connected via HDMI. I want to buy a 27" monitor, to use as a second, and rotate the display so it can go vertical instead of horizontal.  That way when scrolling through excel charts I can see more data in vertical rather then horizontal.

For open ports on the mother board there is an open display port 1.2 that I can connect with. The new monitor I was going to buy supports display port 1.2 so that is how I would connect.

I am also wondering how I will be able to control both screens? If I am running an excel sheet on the vertical one and a pdf on the other one, how do I navigate between the two? I assume I may have to scroll to the right and left and the screen will switch views?

below was the monitor I was going to purchase.

Acer - Nitro XF273Y 27" IPS LCD 180Hz FreeSync Monitor (HDMI, DP) -  (this supports display 1.2 )

on sale for $150 usd

Money is no option though, so if anyone has any better ideas or any suggestions would be appreciated! Also I dont do any gaming so dont need it for that use.
