i often play Freecell - no problems in years.
All of a sudden, since about a month, i often get this display
i can play the game further - it does not lock up, but every game after that comes up like this.
If i close the the game, and restart it - all ok.
what can be the cause ?
running windows 10 -32 Gb Ram

Check in Device Manager if your graphics drivers were recently updated. If so consider either a rollback or if Windows Update has switched you to an MS generic driver see if there's a better one available from the manufacturer.

What else updated around a month ago?
Something is non-fatally affecting the drawing of the FreeCell canvas and it sounds like a conflict that is resolved when FreeCell is closed.
Once you restart FreeCell does the issue eventually recur?

Just another thought, see if rebooting the graphics chipset helps when you see the problem occur.

Will make the screen flicker as the video buffer is cleared but if the result is the game is redrawn correctly at least we can start focussing on the video memory as the culprit.

and it's not the same as in the link you posted above, since restarting the game fixes it
