Has anyone successfully used software to sync ACT contacts and activities? Apparently there has been an ongoing issue with the built in feature in ACT to sync contacts/calendars with Outlook 2016. Any help would be much appreciated. Hopefully someone has had a good experience with an add-on software of some type - thank you!

I am not new to ms access databases.  I have developed quite a few, but its been a long time since I have done this and need some help.  Maryland has a new Sick and Safe leave act where you have to give your part time employees one hour of leave for every 30 hours worked.  Right now, we are tracking this on a spreadsheet.  I wanted to make this easy on our HR lady and develop a db (my comfort zone) to track this.  I have a table of part time employees, not too many, maybe 10 employees.  I wanted to:

1 display the employees in a form.  I did this as a subform.
2. On the unbound main form I wanted to change the payroll date to the current payroll date by calendar picker
3.  After selecting the new date it would create a new record for ALL part time employees with the new pay date. and still list all employees.
so when she enters the hours worked she is only on one form updating each employees hours worked (similar to an excel spreadsheet) where all employees are listed on one page and she just tabs and enters the information.

On the unbound main form.  Where you change the paydate, I wanted to create a new record in the subform for ALL employees.  Right now, It changes the date for the first employee but does not create a new record.  I want a new record for all employees with a new paydate.  I hope this makes sense.

I am unable to access our Cisco ASA 5505 via ASDM because we don't know IP address. We were setting up the ASA to act as a DHCP server and made a mistake and changed the IP address. We have the credentials to access it via the ASDM but without the password it won't work. I've tried to access it using Putty but it's asking for a password we don't have.  Is there a way to figure out what IP it is set for?

I am working in Access 2010.  I have a main form with subform1 and subform2 (this is a continuous form) on subform1.  The problem is with the tab order of subform2.  There are only two fields  on the form.  They are phone, with an input mask, and phone type.  The tab order is correct and it should go to phone but the tab moves it from subform1 to the phone type field and completely bypasses the phone field.  The next tab takes you to the phone field.  This only happens on the first record.  Once the phone and type are filed in it advances to the second record's phone field first.

I set up forms like this a lot and have never seen it act this way.  Any ideas why this is happening?

My client lost email history and notes within his  Goldmine Premium Edition version 2017.1.0.422. I have image backups running. If I grab an earlier copy of the data base, he will lose data he has entered for the last 7 to 10 days (since he noticed the issue). Is it possible to just restore the missing email history/notes without having to resort to an older GB DB copy?

Hi
singleparentmeet.com is a really pitiful dating site. I want to unenroll, but their site is truly pathetic.
They don't have tech support and their help page requires 3rd party cookies.
Dating is a hotbed of scammers. Enabling 3rd party cookies doesn't appeal to me, especially from a crappy site that might have vultures, or Nigerians waiting for idiots to allow them access to info. Nigerian vultures!? How can I safely unenroll from this  site? Can I get VISA to read them the riot act? They will probably charge me soon, month end!

Thanks

Exploring SQL Server 2016: Fundamentals

Hi Experts

What is the Best Practice re IIS & RDS services?

We have 2 VMs on a HyperV: DC + RDS (both WIndows 2016)
Our CRM, ACT! from Sage,  is currently installed on the RDS but is only used internally.
We need to install a IIS / Web Server to give remote access to ACT! via the web

Can I use the RDS to install these additional components? My instinct is to build a new VM and install ACT! on that VM.

What says you?

Hi - We are running a terminal services/Citrix server 2016 with about 25 users, and use the CRM software ACT version 20 (latest). When we launch ACT, after about 10 seconds, we get the error "The requested performance counter is not a custom counter, it has to be initialized as read only"  (pcerror.png - attached) . Of course, this being a terminal services/Citrix environment, happens for all users logging in and using the software. I've contacted ACT support, and they are claiming its a Windows problem. ACT Support did send me an article that has instructions on how to replace/reset the performance counters on the server, but it hasn't fixed the issue. Also, when the error occurs, there are about 6 or 7 miscellaneous events that show in the event viewer, which I've attached as well. I'm just not sure where this error is coming from, and any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I currently have an SBS2011 running domain1.com in native mode (i.e. mx records domain1.com->public IP, ptr -> domain1.com) and I have another two domains which I've added as authoritive domains and use SBS POP3 connector to get email for them.

Lately one of the domains has been losing email and I want to make it native with the current host as a backup using mx records. To do this I've thought of the following:

1. mx records domain2.com -> public IP priority 0
mx records domain2.com -> current host priority 100
2. Change current host to act as backup in case public IP goes down and forward email to it once it comes back up.
3. Make PTR changes.

Now my main issues are 2 and 3. Will I need to use cpanel to create the exchange email accounts in the current host or will it keep the email in a general store and send them to the correct recipients once the public IP comes back on. And will I need to make any changes to PTR? Some say yes others just say that I need to make changes to the SPF to allow sending from public IP. Will multiple PTR pointing to one public IP mess things up?

This is a copy of part of the article located here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/how-to-fight-fcc-net-neutrality,36017.html

net neutrality
vote takes place 12/14/17:

Even so, it is the work of but a moment, so we all may as well do it. Go to www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express, and under Proceeding, enter 17-108 (the dystopian-named “Restoring Internet Freedom” order). Fill in the form very, very, very carefully, ensure you get an email confirmation, and submit.

Your voice will be louder, as it were, with a phone call. Call the FCC and leave a message letting the agency know that you want to keep net neutrality as it is. Dial 1-888-225-5322, and be polite, patient, and persistent. You want Option 1, Option 4, Option 2, Option 0. Enter a complaint on proceeding 17-108.

Here’s a sample script: “Hi, my name is ___, and I live in [city], [state]. I’m registering a complaint about the proposed repeal of net neutrality, because it will hurt American consumers, reduce internet access, and restrict the open flow of information. I strongly oppose the undoing of net neutrality, which is at the core of proceeding 17-108. Thank you.”

Then call your members of Congress. The FCC commission is appointed and makes these decisions, but Congress can pressure the agency to do the right thing, and it can also put forward legislation to make net neutrality law instead of just policy. Find your congresscritter at https://contactingcongress.org/, and call the local office …

Few days ago users start to complain that nobody can connect to the database located on the server.
So I start with the basics.
Verify that all the Act and SQL services are start it on both the client and the server. Make sure the Act sync is running on the server.
I reboot both server and client machine.
I move the database from the server on the local client machine to test it locally.
I even install Act on the server where the database reside. I also restore the Database from backup like few days before all this happens. Still the same error no matter from where I try to run it.

I am migrating away from Act! after years of frustration, but I find that the export function within the program is not great as relates to my ability to "carry along" my document attachments to contacts, histories, opportunities, and the like.

Is there a software program that will allow me to export these documents, hopefully whilst still attached/linked to the original item (contact, opportunity, history, etc.)

Many thanks in advance!

Hi experts, I have a client looking to move to RDS on premise or azure solution. This is because they are taking more and more remote workers on. Currently they have domain controller with ACT on it. Server 2008.
“ACT. The database sits on there DC server at present. Related to this is how Microsoft Query will work extracting data from the ACT database. If we move ACT onto RDS server (either on premise or Azure) and add Office 365 Pro so they can use remotely.
There are some custom reports in excel which use Microsoft query to look up on the ACT database directly and return the information to excel when we refresh the report in excel. First question is: does office 365 still offer this functionality (or the Microsoft query add on)?
Second Question: if query works with office 365 will it work if the ACT database is housed on the Azure cloud

there are about 13 users.
cheers for advance

Third Question: if all is set up here will the remote working setup still be able to use query with logging on remotely?

Hi Experts!

Is there a way I can have a proper invoice number on my invoice report , my invoice report is generated from the following tables :

(1) tblInvoice
(2) tblLinedatails

Currently I'm using PK number to act as an invoice number from tblinvoice, what I want is something like "Year & 000000 & PK number ) example something like ( 2017 000001) assuming the 1 represent the tblinvoice PK

I'm writing a batch file that needs to read In a text file with multiple lines (2-3 or more) and assign them to variables (i.e. Line1, Line2, Line3).  which will then act on those to run jobs based on the variables read in.  What is the easiest way to do this preferably without for loops or delims. etc.

Thx,
Brian
