This is a copy of part of the article located here:

net neutrality
vote takes place 12/14/17:

Even so, it is the work of but a moment, so we all may as well do it. Go to www.fcc.gov/ecfs/filings/express, and under Proceeding, enter 17-108 (the dystopian-named “Restoring Internet Freedom” order). Fill in the form very, very, very carefully, ensure you get an email confirmation, and submit.

Your voice will be louder, as it were, with a phone call. Call the FCC and leave a message letting the agency know that you want to keep net neutrality as it is. Dial 1-888-225-5322, and be polite, patient, and persistent. You want Option 1, Option 4, Option 2, Option 0. Enter a complaint on proceeding 17-108.

Here’s a sample script: “Hi, my name is ___, and I live in [city], [state]. I’m registering a complaint about the proposed repeal of net neutrality, because it will hurt American consumers, reduce internet access, and restrict the open flow of information. I strongly oppose the undoing of net neutrality, which is at the core of proceeding 17-108. Thank you.”

Then call your members of Congress. The FCC commission is appointed and makes these decisions, but Congress can pressure the agency to do the right thing, and it can also put forward legislation to make net neutrality law instead of just policy. Find your congresscritter at https://contactingcongress.org/, and call the local office …

Which Database Choose?

This Article about choose the NOSQL database based on application requirement. Different NoSQL DB’s available, there are three primary concerns you must balance when choosing a data management system: consistency, availability, and partition tolerance.

* Consistency means that each client always has the same view of the data. * Availability means that all clients can always read and write.

* Partition tolerance means that the system works well across physical network partitions.

Chose the Database system based on your application requirement.

 Example Comparing MongoDB and CouchDB.

As you can see in the diagram, MongoDB and CouchDB are built with a slightly different focus. Both scale across multiple nodes easily, but MongoDB favours consistency while CouchDB favours availability.

In the MongoDB replication model, a group of database nodes host the same data set and are defined as a Replica set. One of the nodes in the set will act as primary and the others will be secondary nodes. The primary node is used for all write operations, and by default all read operations as well. This means that replica sets provide strict consistency. Replication is used to provide redundancy - to recover from hardware failure or service interruptions.

CouchDB uses a replication model called Eventual consistency. In this system, clients can write data to one node of the database without waiting for other nodes to come into agreement. The …

Does anyone know about this ADA Website Accessibility regulation?
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently working on regulations regarding website accessibility for visually impaired individuals. The regulations would apply to state and local governments described in Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). On April 29, 2016, the DOJ issued a Supplemental Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SANPRM) titled “Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Disability; Accessibility of Web Information and Services of State and Local Government Entities.” The DOJ plans to extend rulemaking to all public websites sometime in 2018.

Hi Melinda,

I know this may be confusing, but you posted a "Post" rather than a question. "Posting" is for sharing information where asking a question is for getting answers.

Click the blue "Ask a Question" button and ask that way. I suggest selecting topic for Web Development.

ransomwareEmail2.png Friday, May 12th, a new Ransomware threat named WannaCry came onto the scene, affecting organizations in over 150 countries. Damage includes more than 200,000 people infected with the malware and roughly $28,463 paid in bitcoin to decrypt files. That number may only rise unless companies act to mitigate the threat.
Though WannaCry wasn’t a targeted attack on any particular company, institutions using Microsoft operating systems no longer supported by Microsoft security updates found themselves affected by the fast-moving malware.
For a more in-depth look at this attack, check out the following resources:
