Hello, I am running CS5 on Windows 7, and Photoshop suddenly began to change my font every time I use Arial. It does not happen if I use Arial bold, italic, etc. Only if I use Arial regular.

I get this message "Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update those layers now?"

It happens no matter if I open a preexisting file, or if I create a new one.

I was wondering, does anyone know what could cause this? I deleted my Photoshop settings folder, ran the font error script, and Arial is and has been installed on my computer, this is only a very recent issue with it.

Thanks in advance

Hi, so i have created mock ups with photoshop, illustrator and fireworks, they all basically produce the same HTML and CSS after you slice and choose to save/export with images and CSS.

I am just using a template as an example.

This option produces a web page that is not liquid and does not adjust when you make your browser different sizes.

Is there styling that can be added to make the web page remain in the center of the page with different browser sizes?

I have seen a lot of options but have worked with this format.

Thanks!

(this site is just sliced and nothing has been added, obviously there would be areas of text, a navbar and other features normally, but the question would still be the same)

Hi, i have been designing websites in photoshop for a few years now and there was always one thing that i was a little paranoid about.

Let's say my design (canvas) is 1000px high and a client asks me to make the header or footer smaller which means that only 900px of the canvas is now being used. Should i just crop 900px of the canvas where the design is being used, so that the 100px of the canvas that is no longer being used is removed OR is their a better or more professional approach for removing the top or bottom of a canvas that is not needed as part of the design anymore, thanks in advance

Hi,
I have attached the master image. This image have some icons. How to identify the particular icon position.
For reference:.IconFAQLightGray
{
      width:23px;
      height:23px;
      background-image:url(Images/Icon.gif);
      background-position:0px -184px;
      background-repeat:no-repeat;
      cursor:pointer;
      border:none 0px black;
}
.IconTick
{
    float:left;
    width:38px;
    height:23px;
    margin-top:5px;
    background-image:url(Images/Icon.gif);
    background-position:15px -23px;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
    border:0px none black;
}
.IconCalendar
{
    width:23px;
    height:18px;
    background-image:url(Images/Icon.gif);
    background-position:0px -50px;
    background-repeat:no-repeat;
      cursor:pointer;
    border:0px none black;
}
In the future will add some more added icons into existing master image but how to identify the the position like horizontal(x-position) and vertical(y-position) in that image. Is any tool for easily identifying the position(x&y positions)?

Hello,

Some images that I edit for websites have a transparent part, i.e. a fading edge (using a 20px feather on a 2000px wide image).
When I use  save for web > png, I never get the same desired effect as when I use save as png.
Saving as png has  transparency, when I use save for web the transparency always looks dirty.

How can I achieve this?

Thanks!

Hi, i recently changed over from Windows to Mac.

I do a lot of web design and therefore fonts are very important to me.

I have copied over a lot of fonts that i need to my mac, however i have opened a few designs that i designed in Photoshop and Photoshop is having problems with the some fonts as follows:

Problem 1
Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output.  Do you want to update these layers now?

Why do certain fonts need to be updated... i see that some of these fonts are Verdana and it was already pre-installed on my mac, but why does it need to update them... is it a Photoshop problem or an actual mac font problem

Problem 2
In addition, some text layers contain fonts that are missing.  These layers will need to have the missing fonts replaced before they can be used for vector based output. These layers will not be updated.

I can understand this

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me with this as it is holding my work up, thanks in advance

can a png graphic read an xml file? is there special software for that?

I have 100 graphics and each with a different copy and domain but instead of opening up each graphic, it would be most ideal to just place a file on the server, then have graphics dynamically read the xml.

I use PSE 4. I have copies of my photos and after a crash could put them back into the correct folders. I also have a copy of the latest catalog.

I can re-install PSE 4 itself from the original disk.

How do I get the latest catalog back into PSE 4 ?

Hi,
I received a print job from a customer a few days ago, and one of the images has fine black and white lines running vertically down it.
I am attaching the image here for you to look at.
I have never seen image corruption like this before and I would like to know what could cause it.
It seems almost as if it was damaged before it was compressed, as I can see small reflections of it in the JPG compression artifacts.
If anyone can help me out with possible causes I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Steven

Hi Experts,

I have an illustration in AI (see attached file 'original') and I want to clip it to a width of 300px to become an object similar to the one in the file called goal.jpg.

I've been playing with clipping masks and pathfinder and can't figure it out.  Can someone explain how to do it?  Remember that the original object is a group of layers (elipses) and I couldn't seem to simple use a mask for some reason.

thanks!

I have recently been working with high resolution scanned photos.  I previously used Microsoft Digital Image Pro software, but it cannot open high resolution photos (more than 52 million pixels or one dimension in excess of 32,000 pixels).  I purchased Adobe Photoshop, which can open many files that Digital Image can't, but even Photoshop shows some of my high quality files as "placeholders" (not displaying or being able to print the image).

I am not a professional graphic artist, and just need a pretty basic photo editing program that will accept my higher resolution photos.  Photoshop is really too sophisticated for me, but I purchased it figuring that I wouldn't have to worry about the size/resolution issue.  Can you help?

Thanks,

Phil Simmons

How to convert MOV to sequence TIFF???
Dear experts!

I have a mov video file. I need to convert it to sequence .TIFF .Could you please recommended me program? Also I need t preserve transparent or to be able to set for example that black color will be transparent colour in .TIFF files.

I have specific need for exactly this conversion, please do not ask me why I need this. Only change that will be useful also is – to start conversation not from MOV but from AVi file.

In fact, I manage to do this, but with 3 programs and many manual operations. And final result is like – look picture.Where the two ?mark is moved it leave after it black colour (not transperant). I need place where sign is not present to be transperant as I'll mix this picture later over other.

Also I find a way with CS5 but it make empty black files - why ? I do it via File - Export - Render Video. I need my TIFF to be 24 bits + 8 bits Alpha channel.

When I look at  photos on my computer via Photoshop, Windows Live Photo Gallery, or Windows Photo Viewer, the color saturation is much higher than when I look at it on the same photos (using the same computer) on a photo hosting website.  Any way to keep the color the same between the photo's viewed in Internet Explorer and the other apps?
