Adobe Flash

Adobe Flash (formerly Macromedia Flash) is a cross-platform multimedia and software platform used to embed animations, video, and interactive applications into web pages and desktop and mobile applications and games. Flash displays text, vector and raster graphics to provide animations, video games and applications. It allows streaming of audio and video, and can capture mouse, keyboard, microphone and camera input. The ActionScript programming language allows creation of interactive animations, video games, web applications, desktop applications and mobile applications.

Flash: Good Bye and Good Riddance
Unlike yesterday's potentially overblown news about the demise of MS Paint—which was met with mixed feelings—I am quite happy to see the news of Adobe finally putting an end-date on support for Flash. It was a technology that was certainly helpful at solving the problem of online video and interactive games back in the early days, but its misuses (Flash-based site navigation, I'm looking at you!) performance inefficiencies, and security holes mean it's long past time to let it go.

I can certainly sympathize with anyone that still has Flash-based solutions they'll need to replace, though. Perhaps there'll be a nice market for developers to work on doing these conversions?

I have seen some games written as PDF, but w/o loading a bunch of software, I don't know.

Maybe Flash is what I should be looking at ?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm looking for a CDN that's free or affordable for videos like YouTube. However, I don't want to use YouTube for other reasons. I would like to upload videos, and once they're uploaded have them playable onto a website. Any recommendations?

Dear Experts,
I'd like to cache my flash movie on my html page, I do not want to download it again and again from the server when the page is called. Because, I will not change it for two weeks and the file is proportionally large. As far as I know, the browsers cache flash files, but I need to be sure..

Hi, my Tivo bolt would like stream on my computer.  However, it says Flash Player required.  I use Chrome built in Flash.  It's up to date but obviously has its problems.  Please assist.

Chrome Flash
I cannot get Chrome to run Flash even following all the tips I have found searching for solutions. Flash works fine on Edge, Firefox and IE.

I am running:
Windows 10 Version 1703 (Creators Edition) 64 bit
Chrome 58.0.3029.110 (64 bit)

I tried all the steps in

In Chrome/Settings/Advanced/Content Settings, Flash is set to "Ask first before allowing site to run Flash" , but it makes no difference if I set it to Always.

If I go to page with Flash, Chrome never asks if I want to run Flash.

I uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled Chrome, but that made no difference.

One suggestions was to check the size of pepflashplayer.dll in
"C:\Users\[my account name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\" to see if it was 64 bit. It is 30,389 KB which indicates 64 bit.

The security privileges of "C:\Users\[my account name]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome" (and subdirectories) allow Everyone full access.

Running Chrome as an Administrator makes no difference.

Any other suggestions?
while attempting to "sign" an adobe document, I somehow change my pointed-cursor in a hand-cursor, and now I can't highlight to copy any portion if the document. Please advise.

One of my users is trying to watch some webinars that requires the Adobe Connect add-in.  The issue is that after installing the add-in under their profile it does not work and they are prompted again to download and install.  If I install the add-in under my profile (I'm an admin), it installs correctly and works.  I tested by making the user a local admin of their machine and had no issue installing or using the add-in.  Once I removed the user from the local admins group I was back to square one.  Is there a way to make this work for a non-admin or is this a bug with Adobe's software.

Thanks for your assistance!
Hello, since both Google and Firefox are killing off Flash in their browsers, do we still need update the flash player for these browsers (google/firefox) when updates for flash becomes available?
Hello and Good Morning Everyone,

            I am wondering how I might can get an online video clip to playback in Google Chrome.  The link to this video of interest is  Interestingly, it will playback just fine within Microsoft Edge of Windows 10, but, not Google Chrome.

Dear experts,

I have a windows 10 laptop.

I am looking for free/paid app which can enable me split pdf files, merge, or split/extract a section of the page and merge such sections into one new pdf page.

Mine is purely domestic use and i have no intentions to use such a sofware for any copy right violations.

This is for my scanned documents and editing pdf documents which I have paid for any website.

Earlier I have been recommended Wondershare  ( I am not sure if this can support my purpose.

Just as a note i am happy to get a paid version and avoid the malware/spyware getting into my system. I have Mcafee Total protection (subscription alive) on my laptop.

Kindly help.

Thank you
I have a handful of users, using a proprietary application which is built in cold fusion and compiled as a swf file.  These users bring up a report in IE 11 and the text has disappeared within one of the flash objects on the page.

The text for these radio buttons and check boxes are actually rendering in white and with a white background which causes them to disappear.  This is only for a few users.  Does anyone have an idea of what would cause this to happen and are there settings i can change in IE to fix the issue?  IT renders properly with out issue in other browsers.

When you right click inside the flash object and choose the flash setting it grays the box and you can see the white text.  see attachment.  The other objects render on the page.  I just have no idea how to fix this.

We are a Win 7 x64 shop running IE 11.

I have discovered that I can easily convert my MP4 files into SWF files, and add the ActiveX control to my Excel 2016 XLSM file, but I have a couple of questions I'm hoping can be answered here:

1. I want a separate control to be placed on TOP of the SWF control, and have it be visible and available for use. I read that it is possible to set the ZMode to "Transparent" and that should allow me to accomplish this, but even when playing with the ZOrder property, I'm not having much success in this regard. What's particularly interesting here is shown in the attached example XLSM file. You'll see that if you move the mouse wheel that my command button briefly becomes visible, but once the movement stops, the buttons disappears.

2. I want to be able to SCALE the SWF video to fit inside the frame, and eliminate all white space. Both the original SWF file and its control have a 4:3 display ratio so I'm hoping this is possible. Ultimately, if we can solve Question #1, I would like to have the command buttons be on top of the SWF video and be clickable as well.

Please let me know if there is anything else you need!

CD Rom not playing saying url not working. how to fix and play the cd rom videos. please advise
I'm working on a trying to create a little flash file . Now I need to publish it on a blog. I have set up my Wordpress blog but I cannot include the files and we need to make the project fla and swf files accessible for downloading/viewing on the blog. Apparently this does not appear to be that simple.  I can’t figure out how to do this part and it is driving me mad. I thought I could do a dropbox link or something but no joy - could any help or know how I would best approach this .

Thank you!
I have some VBA Code in MS Access that grabs a PDF from an email in Outlook.  When I open these PDFs they show that they are in "Protected View" mode.   Next to this message is a "Enable All Features" button that removes the protection.

My VBA code loops through the PDF document and grabs the text from each field and then puts it in a table in Access.  Because the PDFs are protected, it's unable to grab any of the text from the PDF.

Is there a way with VBA Code to remove the "Protected View" mode from the PDFs once it is open, and prior to my VBA Code running?

Here is my VBA code:
Function GetFileText(strFilePath As String) As String
'IAC objects
Dim gPdDoc As Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc
Dim gAvDoc As Acrobat.CAcroAVDoc

'Dim gPDFPath As String
Dim sName As String
Dim lNum As Integer

'Initialize Acrobat by creating App object
Set gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")

'Set AVDoc object
'gAvDoc = gApp.GetActiveDoc
Set gAvDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.AVDoc")

' open the PDF
If gAvDoc.Open(strFilePath, "") Then
    'Set PDDoc object and get some data
    Set gPdDoc = gAvDoc.GetPDDoc
    lNum = gPdDoc.GetNumPages
    sName = gPdDoc.GetFileName
    GetFileText = Acro_GetPageText(strFilePath, gPdDoc, gAvDoc)
End If

End Function

I have 62 workstations windows 7 and 10 some 32 some 64. We run and online application that relies on Adobe Flash. Right now all the end users are set to a standard user on their local workstation although they do log in with there domain account. When Adobe Flash has an update i have to log in via Log me in and update flash from the admin account. I am looking for an easier way to manage Adobe updates that doesn't require so much of my time.
