Notice the pace of the rotating banner at the top of the page. Fine, right? Now, click on one of the buttons on the right hand side. The button is a simple command that advances the movie to a particular frame. Simple enough. But now watch the pace of the scrolling. It's now at least twice as fast and I don't know why.

I've got to fix it. How?

dear experts ,
i want to know what is the difference between using the event dispatch and event listener or call function ??
for example :

when i click save button :
if ( tabBar.selectedItem == "Project Information" )
dispatchEvent(new Event("saveProjectInfo"));

when i click save button :

btn.addEventListener (MouseEvent,Click , callSaveFunction )
if ( tabBar.selectedItem == "Project Information" )
call save function .....

in both cases the results are THE SAME , i wanna know the real difference with examples if possible ....
Hi experts,

Is there some tools that can be use to view and edit pdf files online.

Do you know open source project or plug in that I can start with.

Is there a way that I can record audio that my swf file produces and save it as a wav or mp3?  Ideally I would like to make an swf file I can embed on the web page that would capture all the audio that the other swf files on the page produce.
On Hotmail, Yahoo, and other sites, there are display ads. On Hotmail and Yahoo Finance, for example, they are on the right side of the webpage. The ones on Hotmail are rectangular and maybe 5 inches top to bottom. The ones on Yahoo are more square, and around the middle of the page on the right.

If you have IE 9.0 and Adobe Flash, go to Yahoo dot com.
Click on finance and then enter a stock symbol, such as IBM.
Once you get to the quote screen, change the symbol a couple times to AAPL, or GOOG.
Or on the left side, click on headlines, or charts, etc.
Or just reload the page at the top.
When you go from the finance page to a stock quote, and move around, the display ads on the right will change.

Same way on Hotmail. If I click on the inbox, or the deleted box, or the sent box, the ads on the right side change.

Let me know what is happening when you move around on Yahoo Finance, as far as these ads.

I do not know what you are getting, but starting last week, these ads, that are on the right side of the pages (on Hotmail, Yahoo, and other sites) are showing themselves, for an instant, on the left side of the page. Once they flicker-flash-blink-show themselves, for this 1/2 of 1 second, they are seen on the right side of the page, like normal.

I asked a question about it already and got no fix.
The fix found by me, was to remove Adobe products from my system.
Also I tried a new copy of IE 9.0.
Once I removed the Air, Flash, and Acrobat the

We are planning to embed flex 4.5 swc component to our application in sdk3.2.
I assume in flex sdk4.5 (AS 3.0) api is not changed.

I've been developing a website on my local computer using XAMPP.   I have a simple video player embedded in the website that plays video files also located on my local computer.   I've noticed that when I play video files through the flash player, the video stutters (as if the buffer can't keep up) and the video doesn't even start to play until the entire file has finished loading ( even though the buffer is set to 2 seconds in the flash player ).

So, my question is:  do you know why this is happening?  Is it because I'm not playing the files from a traditional web server and everything is located on my local machine?

I am after recommendations on the best flash video player, that is open source?

At the minute I am planning on using JW Player - please let me know if there are any that are better than that?

Many thanks for your expert advice.
I have a JavaScript script that displays a widget on my html site. I am going to flash for my new site and need to have that widget in the flash movie. Is there a way I can insert the script without having to re-write the whole thing? I know nothing about ActionScript but I hear JS and AS are very similar.

While trying to download Adobe Flash
Security Essentials keeps saying that the download-run file is reported as unsafe.

I have Vista.
Hi all,

In a nutshell, I need to allow users to upload their own fonts to my Flash-based design program.

What I CAN do so far:
--Create an .as file with a Flex Embed meta tag with a class that registers the Font
--Execute mxmlc against the .as file to create a SWF font library file (this is done locally at the command line, and requires the Flex SDK and the Java SDK)
--Load the font library SWF into another SWF flash and embed the font in a textField
--Upload the True Type font files to the IIS server

What I WISH I could do:
--Create the SWF file server-side from a TTF font file uploaded by the user
--Second best, create the SWF file client-side without requiring Flex/Java (ActiveX?)
     + I tried Font2SWF but can't seem to find a font class inside the gen'd SWF, just graphics
        on the stage.

Anybody know how to do this?

(I'm running on an IIS server and I use ASP. My main Flash app uses AS3.0.)

Hi, I would like to be able to copy a selection from a text box (txtContent)  to the system clipboard in flash

I can easily get  text on to the clipboards using: System.setClipboard(txtContent);

And I think I can get the position of the selection like this: Selection.getBeginIndex() and Selection.getEndIndex();

But here is where i got lost!

I have a client that is lookig to stream some videos on their website.  We aren't talking about a ton of videos or anything, but a few.

The files will be around 45 mb in size, and will come in the form of .avi.

they are ok with converting to flash if needed.

They house their own website on an archaric web server that is in need of upgrading, and I'm not entirely sure of their internet connection speed.

What would be the best way to put these up on the web to stream without constant buffering or waiting 10 minutes to load?

I have a javascript widget that I want to put on my website, which is a flash site. How can I do this? ActionScript? I don't really want to use an iframe if I don't have to because I want it on one of the pages, not fixed on the site at all times.

script for widget:
<script src="" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>

Any help is appreciated.
I need an alternative solution to preloading several swf files whos content come from database.
Ive tried several, built into flash preloaders with no success. The problem that i'm having is that the content sometimes loads and sometimes it hangs. this site is an AS2 flash site which loads 7 swfs as sections, originally it was xml driven but it was converted to run with a content editor. at this point i just need  perhaps a javascript solution to keep these swf files in the browsers until i need them. One solution that was sort of working for me was using a header script to quickly reload the page just enough to capture the swf files but unfortunately the script just kept reloading over and over, and the one page loader that I found that reloded one time only worked great in FF but not in stupid IE(god I hate IE) Anyways any help would  be greatly appreciate and returned in great karma :)
Dear Experts,

I have a powerpoint presentation that I need to get into an SWF format. I have the full professional Adobe suite CS5, and I want to use this to make the conversion. I have tried a lot of free software but a lot of quality is lost in the conversion.

Can someone please guide me through which app in the suite I need to use and how to do it.

many Thanks,

You'll see a carousel with multiple images scrolling horizontally. Everything looks great but there's a gap between images. I'm not talking about the gap between each individual image, rather the distance between the first and last image of the entire group.

I've attempted to close that gap by adding additional images, but nothing seems to be making an impact. I've attached the settings and image xml.

How do I close that gap?

Trying to set up vCenter 5 up on a brand new Windows 2008R2 server. The install completes fine but trying to load either the admin page or the client page results in just a plain blue screen. Right clicking gives the flash context menu with "Movie not loaded..." ghosted out.

I have tried this on two different servers, both clean builds, both have flash 11 installed. The flash plugin does work as youtube videos play fine. I have tried getting version 10 installed but it wont install without trying to put 11 on instead, however using the stand alone version of 10.3 still doesn't display anything.

I have set the site as a trusted site and dropped the security level as low as it will go... no difference. Am I missing some other config options within 2008R2 which may be blocking this content? I disabled the firewall as a test, as any other machine apart from the server, doesn't even get a blank screen (probably a different issue), but this made no difference.
My OS is windows 7 and whenever I want to play a video from the web, I get a message saying that I do not have the latest Flash installed at least a 9.0 (I think), but I have the version 11.0 installed.    But if I were to use Morzilla and play the same file, it does so without any problems.  Why do I repeatedly get this message and how do I fix this? thank u.

the "Play" in elearning section is working on most modern browser except safari. I dont understand why...

Application inludes many RSL's and on load is taking a while . The same scenario happens on deleting flash cache ( where RSL's are loaded again) .  Is there any way to load RSL's on demand or to decreases load time of application.

2) resource modules and styles modules are also loaded simultaneously. Does it impact on load time?

Please share your thoughts the ways to decrease the load time and to improve application performance

I am new to action script 3.0

I am working on existing flash project which is calling internaly swf files one after the other.

I have code available.

In my website I have all the .swf files are available

In SaveForm.swf file below code is used

Settings.getInstance().dispatchEvent(new SiteEvent(SiteEvent.JUMP_TO_PAGE, true, true, { page: 13 } ));

which is taking to the another ShareForm.swf file

This is in method submitData()

Also in the same SaveForm.swf, I have another object UserData, where all user data is saved

private function saveUserData():void {
      var my_message:String = 'Hello';

      // setup User Data object
      trace("Dinesh 5");

I wanted to recive UserData2 object values in my ShareForm.swf

All object values are accepting in method jumpToPageHandler() ShareForm for example
youremail.text = UserData2.getInstance().getEmail();

What code I should write in both files so, that I should receive UserData2 object values in ShareForm.swf

I am not sure why this is …
I'm hoping someone can help - I've spent way too much time trying to get something to work.

I'm trying to setup a tree structure that the user can edit.  I want to use an itemrender and a few events to handle the edits.  The only way I've gotten this to work nicely is to feed the tree an object that is created by Flex at compile time.  What I need is the ability to read in the data at runtime.

If I use a MX:XML model, Flex casts the XML as an object and everything works perfectly.

What I can't figure out is how to read this same data from an HTTP Service call.  I've tried setting the result type to object, e4x, xml etc.  I've tried XMLList, XML, and Array Collections.

I need the XML  cast as an object in the same manner that Flex stores/compiles it using the <mx:XML> model.

Any ideas of thoughts?

<mx:XML id="treedata"  format="e4x">
		<top label="node 0">
			<row label="node 1">
				<row label="subnode 1"/>
			<row label="node 3"> </row>
			<row label="node 5"></row>

private function initCatalog(cat:Object):void {
				myTree.dataProvider = cat;

I need to put a widget on my site using the script tag. How can I do this so that it works in a flash site?

<script src="" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>

Any help is appreciated!
The redirect coding that I have been using no longer works in default safari, I cant seem to find a lot of information on it either. I have attached the coding below.
It also still works in my atomic web browser, with identify as a ipad mobile browser selected. Maybe there is a better code to use with the new safari.

<script type="text/javascript">
	if ((navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPhone') != -1) || (navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPod') != -1) || (navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPad') != -1)) {
		document.location = "";
