Ok further to an earlier post, I don't have the option to move out of IE & Adobe products (namely
Adobe Flash player, Acrobat/Reader,  Shockwave).

So I'll need specific hardenings & settings to make them more secure: attached is a draft I've got
but I'll need more such specific settings for Adobe Flash player, Java applets & Java Runtime
(I got a fair bit of Javascripts) & MS Office hardenings (& management of macros).

Much appreciated if anyone can add in some inputs on hardening/securing of these mobile codes.

Too much are intertwined that I can replace these Adobe products

I am running FMLE on windows 7.
For some reason, FMLE is not starting anymore.  I have restarted the computer numerous times, and have tried to start the script, but it keeps on failing.

Any suggestions?

I have a 60-inch plasma television connected to my laptop's docking station (port aggregator) by way of a USB-to-HDMI converter. In the following Settings dialog, it is identified as display number 3:

display-settings.png
I have a subscription to NBCSports.com where I use Mozilla Firefox to stream live and recorded content. So that I can watch the videos on the 60 inch screen, I select the USB to HDMI speaker for audio output…

audio-output-selection.png
 and then drag my browser over to the television screen (i.e., display number 3).

After logging in and selecting the video I want to watch, I get the following:

Initial-flash-player-screen.png
Although  I can hear the audio through the speakers connected to my computer, there is no video until I maximize the window…

flash-player-at-full-screen-1.png
I'm not sure why that is, but I can live with it. The real problem is that the audio is coming from my computer's speakers instead of the television's speakers. I'm not sure whether this is unique to the NBCSports.com site or the way in which FlashPlayer is being called, but I don't have any problems routing audio through the USB-to-HDMI connection when watching YouTube videos.

By the way, for the purposes of preparing this question, I muted the audio on the NBCSports.com tab. I use speech recognition to interact with my computer, and that was interfering with the process. Before anyone had an aha moment, I just thought I'd let you know.

While playing the video in full-screen mode on display 3, the taskbar on Display 2 looks like this:

Need more best practices & governance on mobile codes (eg: Flash player,
Pdf reader, JavaScript, Java Applets, ActiveX) as we have a few cases of
malicious codes being run when opening Pdf & 1 case of ransomware:

a) attachmt 1 is a screen of IE setting: mostly what to set in IE to stop ActiveX
    & to set to  Med-High (guess this is also to mitigate against ActiveX ?)

b) I wud say patch the various Adobe products (we use Adobe Flash &
     Shockwave) within 1 week upon release of patches ?

c) attachmt 2 has some suggestions on ActiveX & Java only: not much

d) Does AV mitigate against mobile codes vulnerabilities?  If so, keep
    AV signatures updated   is another mitigation

e) I'm sure IPS (NIDS & HIPS) have signatures for mobile codes but in
    McAfee's case, by default, they are rolled out in Detect & not Block
    mode?  Should they be in Block mode?

f) any other best practices & governances for mobile code?

My vulnerability scanner keeps screaming that one of my Server 2012 R2 Standard servers is running a vulnerable version of Flash, which I can't find.  The server has all the latest Windows Updates and I have uninstalled the User Experience feature and rebooted and rescanned, don't know what else to try on this one.

I see Chrome has HTML 5 as it's preferred media utility.  I help with technology at a small Catholic school and I want to be able to head any conversion issues off.  Is there something I can do to prevent issues with Flash-based sites or will Chrome automatically adjust for me?

Thanks!

Maybe Flash is what I should be looking at ?

Any help is appreciated.

Dear Experts,
I'd like to cache my flash movie on my html page, I do not want to download it again and again from the server when the page is called. Because, I will not change it for two weeks and the file is proportionally large. As far as I know, the browsers cache flash files, but I need to be sure..
I use https ( secure connection )
I wrote my html page like this. What do you think about it?

<!doctype html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<meta http-equiv="pragma" content="Cache">
<title>My Title</title>
</head>

<body>
<object width="1366" height="768">

<param name="movie" value="upt_video.swf">

<embed src="upt_video.swf" width="1366" height="768">

One of my users is trying to watch some webinars that requires the Adobe Connect add-in.  The issue is that after installing the add-in under their profile it does not work and they are prompted again to download and install.  If I install the add-in under my profile (I'm an admin), it installs correctly and works.  I tested by making the user a local admin of their machine and had no issue installing or using the add-in.  Once I removed the user from the local admins group I was back to square one.  Is there a way to make this work for a non-admin or is this a bug with Adobe's software.

Thanks for your assistance!
