Analytics is the discovery and communication of meaningful patterns in data. Especially valuable in areas rich with recorded information, analytics relies on the simultaneous application of statistics, computer programming and operations research to quantify performance. Specifically, areas within analytics include predictive analytics, prescriptive analytics, enterprise decision management, retail analytics, store assortment and stock-keeping unit optimization, marketing optimization and marketing mix modeling, web analytics, sales force sizing and optimization, price and promotion modeling, predictive science, credit risk analysis, and fraud analytics.

I just found out that since 2009 I think it is, all search results on Google are personalized by default. I want to disable this as I need to get search results as unbiased as possible.

Hi! Looking for some regex help again...

I have an analytics tool which allows me to take Regex and pull out specific parts of a key. In my example below, I'm looking to pull out the values which are in the third slot of the delimiter ":" and I can use the $ to reference a value to return.

Example Keys
     manifest_acquisition_summersale
     gglp:paidsearch_nb_b2b:thisisthekeyword:thisistheoccassion
     gglp:paidsearch_nb:paid keyword:rewardsclub
     gglp:paidsearch_nb:gifts:sale
     gglp:paidsearch_things:keyword_phrase

Expected Result
     (no match expected)
     thisisthekeyword
     paid keyword
     gifts
     keyword_phrase

What I've tried:
This failed -->
 ^gglp:([^:]+)$

This failed -->
 ^gglp.*:([^:]+)$

and then I referenced $1  to return what was matched

Results Returned with what I've tried:
None -- all tries have failed. :( Help please!

Hi Experts

Could you explain why Google search continuaslly use not configurated characters ?

I had excluded all the text that is in this specific page, but I don't know the reason Google uses not configurated text, accordingly with:

I have the capacity to create .CSV (Comma-Separated Values) files and upload them to a Google contact group.  I am writing a query to generate the .CSV files, and using the fields as they appear on the contact page as a key to generating field names.  The process is less than perfect, however; and Google puts the field names that don't aren't in synch with the naming conventions into a generic "Notes" field.  Since I'm generating this as a query output, I can adjust the field names at will; and I'm hoping that tweaking the field names will put all the values into their properly designated locations.

The good news is that Google combines all of the names into a single group; and it places the Name, Email, and Home phone fields properly.  All the address material, however, gets shuffled off to Notes.  I have an accompanying screenshot of the dataset I imported and its subsequent display in Google.  (Oddly, this run, with a single name, failed to incorporate the name, which departs from the previous behavior.)

Would like to get this right, so that I am effectively able to make strategic groups and have all the fields synch up properly, both online and on my smartphone!  Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

We want to implement google analytics code in one of the page to determine the  user usage count but this particular page is being accessed by two different application. The real challenge is to know the user usage count / application.

How can we do it? Do we use HTTP referer etc, looking for a complete solution. Thank you for the solution in advance.

I've been on the periphery of dimensional data modeling for a while, while knee deep for years in traditional ERP relational models and a de-normalized data warehouse, and lots of SQL data analysis. I'm in a non big data environment.

I've never understood the purpose of (nor the mechanics) dimensional data models. Now that I read a few blogs, I can better ask my questions. Here's a good article and some pic's that helps clarify my perspective on the structure of a dimensional data model.

dimensional data modelDimensional data
So,
- Am I correct that this data modeling technique is ultimately done for performance purposes ?

- So isn't this accurate: to get to the dimensional data model, the OLTP data is broken up, then ETL'd to the dimensional model, then to write reports, well, you bring it back together again ? As an outsider to dimensional data modeling, I've always said to myself, "why not just write the query against the OLTP ?" Because when I look at the dimensional data model I can't see how it's much different than a relational model. Using the example above, the fact table would be a relational table by simply storing the date of the transaction as opposed to a "date FK". Using this example, I just don't get it.

- Isn't this dimensional data model like fully normalized ? So to present this to the users, you have to write a traditional query ?

I hear Google grades a site lower when it has more than one domain. True?

Is there a work-around?

What not have domain 2 have it's own placeholder home page and it does an immediate redirect to the real domain?

Any other ideas?

Thanks

In our Google Analytics account we are noticing a dip in direct and organic search compared to last year which by everything we are doing doesn't make sense and we should be seeing a climb in traffic not a dip. We were wondering if perhaps our dedicated ip is being blocked by certain ISPs so that users clicking through or typing through to our site are either not seeing the site (blank page?) or something else.

Is there a tool to check for this?

And where would I look in cPanel or WHM to check for these type of errors which I'm assuming would be 5.x.x errors?

I've been part of a BusinessObjects team for about a year, having never been involved in BO before. But I have been doing IT systems for a good long while, with particular emphasis / expertise in writing awesome SQL statements . . .

I finally was able to produce some data points in regards to report usage, in contrast to online screen transactions. This is your classic (higher education) transaction system, with data-entry screens, canned reports, and ad-hoc reporting via BusinessObjects Web Intelligence.

So here is the data -
ERP Activity
So the raw observation is that reports, both standard and ad-hoc, are hardly used. What do you make of this ? I realize there are many factors involved, but does this strike you as way too lopsided, or what ?

Why do I keep getting results for "page not found" in google analytics?  I performed a link check and all links are working fine...

Hi,

I use online services like google docs quite heavily, and would use wix.com if I can get the performance to improve.

1. How can I tell if the performance I'm receiving is at or near the maximum attainable?
2. How can I identify a bottleneck if there is one?

eg I could try various combinations of different PCs and different internet connections, but is there any analytical way to find out?

I use windows 10, windows xp, ipad, and android devices, so can run diagnostics on any of these.

thanks

Hi,

A website I am signed up up that I have to log into provides updates between a certain time. Getting the data is essential and the company cannot mail it as the mail servers they used had suffered delays.

Is there software or a program I can get that will tell me when a site is modified. I can then log in.

Ideally on my iPhone if possible. I am sure I did this myself once using Excel data connections but that might not work.

Thank you!!!!

I have a client that wants me to add a Facebook pixel so he can track.

Following these instructions: https://www.facebook.com/business/help/218844828315224

I placed the code on his actual website between the <head> and </head>, not his Facebook page.

Where am I supposed to put this? On the actual website or on his Facebook page?

TIA,
Deidre

There was a long code I copied then pasted into the modal dialog, as requested.

What next?

I need to have a unique Google Analytics page for each blog page?

What are the next steps?

Thanks

I have a Master Page with a piece of javascript in the Header Tag of the Master Page, this javascript specified a Data Layer for Google Tag Manager, this Data Layer value has to change depending on what happens on a child page (basically this is wizard style page that changes it's content but not it's URL with each click). I'm wondering how I can change a value in the javascript of the Master Page each time the Child Page is reposted.

I have tried creating a Public property on the Master Page and adding this into the javascript with a variable and then setting this in the child page load event but the resulting Property is always 'nothing' as the javascript code is created before the load event fire (I assume)

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

I have a video on youtube that drives traffic to a sales page.  I'm using the current goal:

Goal details:
Destination
      begins with: /thank-you-for-your-purchase/
Funnel
      1.) Sales page = /productA/

The goal completes when they land on the /productA/ page, complete the purchase and land on /thank-you-for-your-purchase/.

I'd like to create a goal that tracks people coming from the youtube page. But since the youtube URL won't be within my domain name, I'm not sure how or if this goal can be created. The youtube page would be the first step in the funnel.

Can anyone comment on a solution?

I've been learning about in-memory computing (both Oracle and SAP Hana) and this is looking like a major revolution, no ? Making the architecture of the 90's a relic of the past ? Just trying to understand.

In this SAP presentation (first 5 minutes), Prof. Hasso Plattner talks about the revolution that is Hana. Because it's an in-memory database, performance is fast as lightning, thus opening up many possibilities because of the speed. Attached is Hana's .pdf

After researching this a bit (including Oracle, here), I can see the value of in-memory computing: faster, reduces complexity, reduces data footprint, etc.

Prof Plattner also talks about eliminating OLAP databases (and data warehouses, which I suppose is OLAP), because of the speed. So is this true too ? He says to bring analysis back to the OLTP system. I also heard Hana can scan 2 B records per second . . . if so, wow.

So I'm old school Oracle, came at the beginning of client server, three-tiered, etc. with a little COBOL thrown in back in the day. Can write awesome SQL statements and did plenty of PL*SQL programming, and lots of performance tuning. But it's looking to me like this is a new world and I better get a handle on it.

We have a small d.b. so size is not even a consideration. Like 60,000 main master records (students in a …

I have several goals setup for product purchases. However, I don't know where the user came from.

I have several sources to drive traffic to my site for the purchase. The source links to a specific sales page. Is there a way to add the source as part of the goal?

When I run a page through google page speed insights I get a warning:
Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content

I did a little research but can't seem to find, what I would consider, a definitive, easy to follow A,B,C's to rectifying this.  Can you point me to a good, beginners resource?

Hi:
I'm looking for suggestions, tips, any advice on reducing cost-per-click on AdWords.  The suggestions on Google's Q&A forum are kind of vague and generic.
I'd appreciate tips and perhaps links to useful blogs/videos/resources on the subject.

I'm not sure if Google Sheets is the best place for what I want so I'm open to any ideas.

I need to create a page, where people would be able to submit their questions. Then they would be able to read all the questions submitted (by them and others) and upvote (once) all questions they like.

In this way I want to have then the most popular questions answered first.

Thank you for any help.
