Angular is a JavaScript open-source web application framework used to develop single-page applications. It aims to simplify both the development and the testing of such applications by providing a framework for client-side model–view–controller (MVC) and model–view–view-model (MVVM) architectures, along with components commonly used in rich Internet applications. Angular is the front-end part of the MEAN stack, together with Node.js runtime, Express.js backend framework and MongoDB database.

I am working at adapting a Typescript application into my Website.

This site uses a service to make an api call and return the results. I can get it working when I use two separate functions in the service. I would like to combine these into one function.

Is that possible?

  sendCode(email: string, mobile: string, source: string, loctr: string): void {
    email = email.trim();
    mobile = mobile.trim();
    if (!email && !mobile) { alert("Email and Mobile cannot BOTH be empty. Pick one!"); return }
    const newCode: Code = { email, mobile, source, loctr } as Code;
    this.sendcode(newCode)
      .subscribe((apiCode: any) => {
        this.codemsg = apiCode.msg;
        this.askCode = true; // if it gets this far, then reset.
    });
  }

  sendcode (code: Code): Observable<Code> {
    console.log("aS.52 | sendcode arrival: ",code);
    let settings = JSON.parse(sessionStorage.getItem("setting"));
    code.site = Number(settings.study);
    code.lang = settings.lang;
      return this.http.post<Code>(this.apiUrl+`?a=sendcode`, code, httpOptions)
        .pipe(
          catchError(this.handleError('sendcode', code))
        );
  }

It seems like there should be an easier way to do this all in one function, but my simple attempts have not worked. Can you provide some insight how to combine these to get them to work?

Thanks.

HI,

I have an excel user who would like an input form similar to excel.

This should have selection options across the top row:

Option1  (DD with several options) .       Option2 (DD with several options)
User inputs value                                         User inputs value

I will then read both selections from the drop down and from the user input.

Ideally the user can also add additional rows and columns.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Ollie.

I've inherited an ASP.NET MVC, dot Net Framework 4.5.
It was built with angular js and it has a CSharp API file, SurveyAPIController.cs .
As I step through the debugger, there is a place it seems like it should be calling the GetResultSummary function in SurveyAPIController.cs here in a service.js file :

    .factory('SummaryService', function ($http) {
        return {
            getSummary: function (term, classid, faculty, callback) {
                $http.get('../api/surveyapi/getresultsummary?Term=' + term + '&Class=' + classid + '&Faculty=' + faculty).success(callback);
            }
        };
    })

Open in new window

I put breakpoints in the GetResultSummary function, but they never get hit.

The GetResultSummary function calls a SQL Server stored procedure:
            var Result = db.Database.SqlQuery<vmResult>("Exec [sur].[GetResultSummary]  @TermID={0},@ClassID={1},@FacultyID={2}", Term, Class, Faculty).ToList();

Open in new window

When I run the SQL Server Profiler when I expect that stored procedure to be hit, I don't see it run. Maybe the stored proc is getting hit and I'm not seeing it, but I don't see it

After the debugger gets done with service.js function,
 .factory('SummaryService', function ($http) {

Open in new window

the debugger then goes to an app.js file where it tries to read some data:
        SummaryService.getSummary($scope.term, $scope.classid, $scope.faculty, function (data) {
            if (data != null) {
                $scope.summary = data;

Open in new window

But it appears that the data variable is null.
The only thing I see going wrong is that before the
.factory('SummaryService', function ($http) {

Open in new window

code gets called, there is an error in a nv.d3.min.js[dynamic] file :
Unhandled exception at line 1, column 408 in https://rawgit.com/novus/nvd3/v1.1.15-beta/nv.d3.min.js
0x800a1391 - JavaScript runtime error: 'd3' is undefined occurred

But I don't know if that is related since the JavaScript functions gets all its parameters filled successfully with real arguments.
Why is the API function not getting called?
By the way, there are other functions in that API file that do get called with the same path.

I am attempting to populate and display 1 of 3 displays:

survey.html (coded)
votecount.html ( after vote  - not coded yet)
alreadyvoted.html ( if already voted -  not coded yet)

My navigation and/or code is not displaying survey.html for openers.

My code is enclosed.  My navigation via chrome debug is attached.

Hello!

Trying to display some dynamic font-awesome icons on the screen based on status.  Using FullCalendar, Font-awesome and the project has a mess of other jscript libraries. (ko, angular, bootstrap) in it.

Anyway, this line draws the display line for me.  The last <span> data contains something like '<i class='fa fa-asterisk'></i>'

<img src="img/pic.png" class="event-dataProg hide"  /><span class="event-startdate"></span><span class="event-program"></span><span class='event-status_code' ></span></h4>

however, when inspecting in Chrome, I see:
 <span class="event-status_code">&lt;i class='fa fa-asterisk'&gt;&lt;/i&gt;</span>

if I manually swap out the &lt; &gt; etc, it works for me !    How do I get it not to encode the HTML??  I could call a decode routine in jscript, but unsure of the syntax here.

Thanks!

Chad

In the past I have developed applications using C#, ASP.Net Web Forms, Asp.Net MVC 5 , Razor , javascript, css, bootstrap, Entity Framework and SQL Server.
I'm familiar with ASP.NET MVC model.

Now i'm looking at upgrading my skills to ASP.NET Core.

I saw this book.

https://www.amazon.com/Front-end-Development-ASP-NET-Angular-Bootstrap/dp/1119181313/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=asp.net+core+angular&qid=1557595000&s=books&sr=1-4

Which led me to think the following.

If I'm going to create a ASP.NET Core MVC application using Entity Framework with a Sql Server back end....

What is the advantage of bringing in Angular into the mix?

What is the advantage of using Angular + ASP.NetCore MVC + Razor + JavaScript + CSS + Bootstrap + C# + Sql Server?

Rather than just this ASP.NetCore MVC + Razor + JavaScript + CSS + Bootstrap + C# + Sql Server?

I am working with an Angular7 project and I have three buttons where the content is loaded from an API call.  I am experimenting with trying to figure this out. I am trying to pass the dynamic value from the button to a function...

The code in the about.component.html page looks like this:
        <button mat-button (click)="loadAbout('terms')" class="aboutnav">{{pS.pgInf.btn1}} | {{pS.pgInf.lnk2}}</button>
        <button mat-button (click)="loadAbout(pS.psInf.lnk2)">{{pS.pgInf.btn2}}</button>
        <button mat-button (click)="loadAbout($event)">{{pS.pgInf.btn3}}</button>

Open in new window

Then on the about.component.ts page I have this function defined:
  loadAbout(link:string) {
    console.log("inbound link is: ",link);
    alert("YOu are at loadAbout with value ["+link+"]");
  }

Open in new window

The values for the dynamic object being passed are:
btn1: "Terms of Use"
btn2: "Privacy Policy"
btn3: "Use of Cookies"
lnk1: "terms"
lnk2: "policy"
lnk3: "cookie"

Open in new window

I know I am getting the right values passed from the API to the HTML because the display text for the word "policy" shows up correctly in the first link: (e.g. Terms of Use | policy)

I am testing to try to get it to pass the value of the button link to the function. I am having an "alert" popup with the link value of the button I just pressed.

  • The first one works fine. I get the alert message that says I passed the value of "toast" was passed.
  • The third one gives an alert that says, "YOu are at loadAbout with value [[object MouseEvent]]".
  • The second one, where I am trying to pass the dynamic value from the object, does NOT work. I get an error message that says, "ERROR TypeError: "_co.pS.psInf is undefined"

So what am I doing wrong? How can I pass the dynamic value of the link to the function when the button is clicked.

HI

I am trying to install the Angular framework at no avail..
As per the Angular recommendations (https://angular.io/guide/quickstart) I must:

Hi,
I always developed in windows forms. However now I came up with a litle project for the web. I'm using Devexpress components, however this is still a bit confusing for me. For example, the following link https://js.devexpress.com/Demos/WidgetsGallery/Demo/DataGrid/Overview/NetCore/Light/ shows several examples. From what I understand I can choose one of these frameworks presented or even the Asp.Net core, to develop on Api Devexpress. I would like to know if this is correct, and what would be the best choice. For me it might be easier asp.net core, since I am already develop in windows forms.

best regards

After auto system update my computer I was unable to start my server part of Angular application
 with "dotnet run", tried to use "dotnet restore" and got error:
error NU1100: Unable to resolve 'Microsoft.NET.Sdk ' for '.NETCoreApp,Version=v 2.2'.
How to resolve this?

My angular js controller will not populate html.  I put in alerts which tells me my controller interface with html
is not working.  none of the alerts appear.

What am I missing or doing incorrectly.  I am attempting to emulate getting cookie data
which I eventually will have to do.

Thanks for help in advance,
Isaac

Architecture advice

So from a full pipeline infrastructure to develop and then deploy a web application what would you all recommend as best practice.

The items I do know at this point is I will be using the latest .net and angular frameworks for the application.  There will be a SQL backend.

My company wants this application to be deployed using CI/CD techniques.

We will have an Azure storage along with utilizing Docker.

I dont know much more but wanted to get an idea of what this architecture should look like as a developer.

I would imagine working locally in visual studio...perhaps there are some item you need to think about upfront for .net and angular apps while developing knowing that you will push to azure via a docker container.

Also at this point should I be thinking about .net versus .net core.

I plan on watching some videos and doing more reading but wanted to start with this as a place to get ideas of how this should be setup at a high level
from the architecture point of view dev through test and prod.

Hi,
I want to implement mapping functionalities within an Angular 7 project that will include map clusters, polygons, circles etc on a Google Map. I have a PrimeNg Angular Map control and I know that I will need to integrate this with the Google Map SDK in order to handle map clustering as there is nothing in the PrimeNg documentation that describes how PrimeNg does this.

Has anyone done something similar to this before and if so can they point me in the right direction? Or on the other hand are there any open source plugins that will allow an Angular Project to interact with the Google SDK in an Angular way (i.e. without Javascript direct DOM Manipulation but using Angular Binding, Change detection etc).

Thanks

it's a bizarre problem the program screen starts shaking resizing slightly it's only happens when screen is shrink slightly
please advise what might be happening here
I have a clock that gets displayed in the lower right-hand corner although I had moved it to the center and it made no difference
I am using the sex State mounted to call the setinterval
function it works great until the screen is modified slightly and then it starts breathing as the right Edge moves to the left and to the right an animated fashion.
right now I'll entertain any possible solution it's weird

well I can't show the actualcode. I will try in and create a copy to recreate the problem.
set interval causes update of information that is then displayed
within mustaches. {{ datetimestring}}
it would almost seem like maybe it was due to variable fonts
but but then why is it triggered by resizing with screen eg shrinking the screen or adding a component div or span to screen ?

I will post an example of what I'm talking about when I get a chance

Need a few ideas on how to code sample data to test my Kendo UI controls

I will be using Kendo UI, Angular and jQuery on my next project. So, I assume the client will have different Kendo UI controls to test. So, the best way to test them is to populate them with dummy data, since the back-end work may not be up to speed yet.

So, please provide one or more Javascript samples which I could use to store the sample data.

I guess a multi-dimensional Array is pretty common in Javascript, BUT, it would also help if you also have the Javascript wrapper which returns the sample set of data as JSON and XML.

Thanks

Angular is a JavaScript open-source web application framework used to develop single-page applications. It aims to simplify both the development and the testing of such applications by providing a framework for client-side model–view–controller (MVC) and model–view–view-model (MVVM) architectures, along with components commonly used in rich Internet applications. Angular is the front-end part of the MEAN stack, together with Node.js runtime, Express.js backend framework and MongoDB database.
