All of Apple's hardware is produced solely by Apple Inc., who determines internal systems, designs, and prices. Apple buys certain components wholesale from third-party manufacturers. The current Mac product family uses Intel x86-64 processors. All Mac models ship with at least 1 GB RAM as standard. Current Mac computers use ATI Radeon or nVidia GeForce graphics cards and include a dual-function DVD and CD burner, called the SuperDrive. Current Apple hardware includes the iPad, iPhone, iMac, Mac Pro, Macbook, iPod and Apple TV. Discontinued hardware includes the Apple I, Apple II, and the Apple III, the Lisa, the Newton, the Quadra, Performa, Centris, Macintosh II and LC series, the Power Macintosh, iBooks and the MacBook.

The "Contacts" icon is missing on a new iPhone X.

Currently the user has to search for "Contacts" since the contacts icon isn't displayed anywhere on the iPhone X screen.

What needs to be done so that the "Contacts" icon will display on the iPhone X screen?

I bought my daughter an Ipod. She loaded a thousand songs on it from her CDs.

But when she goes to play them, it asks her to have a wireless connection and download them.

How can she get it to stop demanding a wireless connection and download?

I found this answer somewhere. but it isn't applicable to us. So don't suggest it.

>>>FIrst, connect to wifi, and go into your iTunes app.  On the bottom of the screen you will see 3 dots for "more".  You will see a list of Music, TV Shows etc.  Select Music, then select purchased.  You will see all your music appear.  On the top of the list you can select "Recent Purchases".  Once you select that it will take you to the list of all the music you have purchases either on or off your phone.  At the top right corner, select "Download All".

When we go to download, it says you have no purchases.  So the above doesn't apply. The music she has downloaded is her music from CDs, transferred from laptop to iphone. The music is there, but before she can play it, it has to be downloaded, even though it's already there.

When we transferred the music over, there was an option to transfer and download as well. We clicked that at the time of install.

Thanks!

I installed two app recently, I found that my battery keep draining very fast after that.
1. InkCase app (It will sync data to InkCase via bluetooth on a regularly basis)
2. SureWin!LiveMap for pokemon go (It will scan the area for active pokemon and gym)

For SureWin! app, I have disabled the notification and only allow use the location while using the app.

Can you please help test if InkCase app will keep draining my battery if it keeps running in the background and sync data to InkCase?

I know there are many iPhone/Android insertable "credit card swipers," but those only work with PayPal, Square, or whichever brand that hardware is associated with. So, I need a generic one.

Does anyone know of one or more of these gadgets which can be plugged into a smart phone and configured to be an input device by an iPhone or Android app?

Thanks

OK to copy files from Time Machine connected to MacMini-A to MacMini-B?

MacMini-A has failed to start and I need some data files copied to MacMini-B.

I assume just swap TimeMachine drives and click-n-drag data files.

Is it possible to pair  Mac keyboards with other devices, such as Android tablets or Windows computers or are they exclusively set to be pair with Apple devices?

My co-worker said that they only work with Apple devices ... ... but wasn't the idea of Bluetooth that they should work with any device, especially mice and keyboards?

I bought a replacement MacBook, and inserted the 500BG SSD from the old machine into the new one. I also have a few backup HDD's which I used with TimeMachine on the old machine.

Can I safely use those drives with the new PC? The new MacBook Pro is of the same vintage as the old one, and I moved all configurations to the new PC by way of swapping the old SSD into the new PC.

Thanks.

I transferred the Solid State Drive to a similar PC and loaded the system without incident, but iMessage does not work.

There seems to be a problem connecting to iCloud or Contacts, since if I create  New text message, typing into the To: field does not bring up Intellisense. By this I mean, it does not mater what I type, not contacts pop up. If I try and paste a phone number, it disappears.

What must I do to get it working again on this other machine?

Thanks.

I expect to get a different MacBook with a 500GB drive and need to replace what's on the drive with the contents of the back-up drive.

I used the drive to back-up my prior 500GB drive, on a PC which died on me yesterday.

Please provide me the exact steps to follow to completely restore the drive.

Thanks

I have a Mac that died when its video card failed. There is no way to fix that that I have found yet.

If I buy a new Mac, I know I can access the hard disk from my new Mac. Is there a way to access the CD Drive of the old PC from the new PC also?

Thanks

This is driving me bananas!  Anyone know why an Apple keyboard would all of a sudden no longer be able to copy and paste text using keyboard Cmd+c, and Cmd+p?  I am using OSX El Capitan. Problem appeared about a week ago.

In the old days, they called this a headless PC.

My Mac video card died aND  one option is to use the Mac or my Time Machine drives as a way to access this information.

I assume the external backup drives I can just plug in.

How do I do this with the MacBook as an external drive?

Thanks

I have been using the Windows operating system since the 90s. I have never owned a MAC before. Should I transition from PC to MAC? I don't game on the PC. However, I do use my PC for music creation, video production and audio editing.

Hi, I have a MacBook Air 13-inch Early 20151.6Ghz Intel Core i5, running  OS 10.13.
There was an intermittent problem whereby sound would stop working, but rebooting solved it. Now, rebooting doesn't solve.

Symptoms
In System Preferences > Sound, there are no sound output devices showing up.
At reboot, system doesn't chime before OSX starts up.
Sound volume is greyed out.

What I've tried

Plug in headphones - no effect - no output device, no volume
Check headphone jack for debris, blow out with air duster
Reset PRAM, Reset SMC
Checked for audio booster apps like Boom - there are none

I suspect that the absence of that chime when the machine starts up means that it's a hardware issue.  Has anyone any ideas?

I'm trying to get a text thread (with someone with a droid? their text bubbles are green) off an iphone. Yes, we can do screen captures of each page.  that's tedious and kinda long.

I looked on line and played with ifunbox and a couple other apps / iphone file browsers (phone is NOT jailbroken (is that a thing these days)).

None of those were successful / I didn't even know where to look for the thread.

But one - ibackup viewer has a free and paid version. Using the free version, it had me backup the phone with itunes then it read the backup file and easily let me export the thread as text - cute that it right and left justified the text from each person like it shows on the phone. And each was time stampld..

it also lets you export the conversation as a PDF with colored text bubbles. Very nice!!!.. but the free version says 'demo' all over it. Understandable. Lets you try the product and if you need that feature, you buy the app.

But anyone know of other apps that will do this (pull off conversation as text or even better as PDFs / more graphical). Free or paid.  Just want to know if I was using the free apps wrong or there's more fully featured paid apps before I lay out $$

THANKS!

A colleague indicated that he prefers iPhone over android phone because the iPhone is entirely encrypted and all apps download from the Apple store passes thru rigorous process prior being placed on the store.  On the other hand, android phone are not encrypted and you can download apps from anywhere, besides the store; in other words there is little control as to the google store apps as to security.  Finally all who developed apps for iPhone have to pay an anual fee to Apple where as to android no fee - insinuating at one point that a hacker can create an apps load it to google store and all can download it; thus being able to reach millions with ease.

Is there any accuracy to this persons comment? Please advice.

I am used to typing the first letter or two of a long folder name, then pressing the Tab key. I like tabbing through my options, then pressing Enter when the right one appears.

Can I do this on the Mac terminal?

Thanks
