Apple's early computers ran on a variety of operating systems, including a Pascal version and one based on CP/M, before releasing its ProDOS with the advent of its 16-bit computer. With the release of the Lisa, which had its own OS, Apple and computing entered the graphical age; it was followed by the Macintosh, which offered a series of "System" operating systems. Other Mac operating systems included PowerPC until Apple acquired NeXT and folded it into the Mac OS. Current operating systems for Apple devices are Mac OS-X and iOS.

One of my co-workers informed me that a family member received an error message on their Home MAC Laptop “Error #0x80072ee7"  A good description of the problem is on this web site:  https://www.2-spyware.com/remove-error-0x80072ee7-virus.html

My co-worker actually called the number and someone was able to remote into his home laptop.  Afterwards he called me and asked me for my thoughts.  I told him it was a scam and not to trust that person or call that number again.  My co-worker informed me that even though the fake spam tech was on his wife's laptop for 3 minutes that same guy did not connect to his work MAC laptop (that is at home).

I want to scan every device that this co-worker has before he connects to our corporate network.  I researched an anti-virus that can be used for MAC/Apple Laptops and found:  https://www.clamxav.com/

Then I would suggest that the co-worker use that anti-virus program for every other Apple device at his home.   For Windows computers I like to use Hitman pro; but, there are a lot of other programs as well.

I wanted to ask the Experts, if I should do anything else besides scan the co-worker Apple devices (Home and Work Devices)?  I am also thinking about having a little safe computing presentation for top executives of the company.  Even if their time is extremely important.

So my questions is:

What should I do to make sure that the co-worker's devices are virus free before he connects with them to the corporate network?  SO…

Hi,

I just installed Outlook in a Mac but it downloads all emails from my hotmail accounts, there are thousands of emails.

Is there an option where I can only select to download new emails? I can this on a PC but I can't seem to find this option on the Mac.

Thank you.
Jose

MAC OS - High Sierra 10.3 and outlook 15.39

Any resolution method to fix this

Greetings wise wizards of EE:

I'm helping a friend who has a fairly new iMac, running El Capitan, and Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac. I sent up an IMAP account with his @sbcglobal.net e-mail (from AT&T), which is able to send and receive. However, it constantly prompts him to input his smtp password, and I have confirmed that the smtp settings and port number is correct. I have tried every possible AT&T server settings, and I check "Keep this password in the keychain". He typically inputs his password in the morning, and ignores all requests that appear after (usually several per day) and his email then sends normally. This issue is not preventing him from using his e-mail, but it is highly irritating.

I am convinced it is either a Microsoft application or operating system issue. Both Office & El Capitan are up to date.

Please advice to make this incredibly annoying error message exist no more!

Many thanks in advance,

Zovoth

I bought a replacement MacBook, and inserted the 500BG SSD from the old machine into the new one. I also have a few backup HDD's which I used with TimeMachine on the old machine.

Can I safely use those drives with the new PC? The new MacBook Pro is of the same vintage as the old one, and I moved all configurations to the new PC by way of swapping the old SSD into the new PC.

Thanks.

I transferred the Solid State Drive to a similar PC and loaded the system without incident, but iMessage does not work.

There seems to be a problem connecting to iCloud or Contacts, since if I create  New text message, typing into the To: field does not bring up Intellisense. By this I mean, it does not mater what I type, not contacts pop up. If I try and paste a phone number, it disappears.

What must I do to get it working again on this other machine?

Thanks.

I expect to get a different MacBook with a 500GB drive and need to replace what's on the drive with the contents of the back-up drive.

I used the drive to back-up my prior 500GB drive, on a PC which died on me yesterday.

Please provide me the exact steps to follow to completely restore the drive.

Thanks

I have a Mac that died when its video card failed. There is no way to fix that that I have found yet.

If I buy a new Mac, I know I can access the hard disk from my new Mac. Is there a way to access the CD Drive of the old PC from the new PC also?

Thanks

This is driving me bananas!  Anyone know why an Apple keyboard would all of a sudden no longer be able to copy and paste text using keyboard Cmd+c, and Cmd+p?  I am using OSX El Capitan. Problem appeared about a week ago.

Is Chrome OS gaining popularity like Windows or MAC? Do most programs that work with Windows or MAC work with Chrome OS?

I have regular outages when listening to an audio feed via my bowser. It just cuts out.

Is there a way for me to find out why?

Also, I got an email from my cloud back-up provider that a backup has not taken place in three days, even though my PC has been connected to the Internet the whole time.

Suggestions?

What software or methods can I use to setup Time Machine backup notifications within macOS Sierra v. 10.12.6?

I have already tried and don't like TMNotifier.

What other methods or utilities are available so I can be notified by email whenever a Mac user's Time Machine backups succeed, fail, or have errors or warnings?

I have been using the Windows operating system since the 90s. I have never owned a MAC before. Should I transition from PC to MAC? I don't game on the PC. However, I do use my PC for music creation, video production and audio editing.

How can I setup or use shortcut keys to lock a Mac computer running the macOS Sierra operating system?

Please provide me with guides for implementing group policies for Macs that have been added to Server 2016 AD domains.

These are all the latest Macs that are running the macOS Sierra operating system.

If any kind of special software needs to be purchased provide with these details as well.

This is on MacBook Air with Sierra 10.12.6

The user filed saved mail "On My Mac" instead of in the Exchange Account.  There are several layers of folders.
Copying folders from "On My Mac" to the Exchange account is not reliable.  A lot of folders never get copied.

I know that I can re-create the folder structure in Exchange, and then manually move all the email one folder at a time, but that is a lot of work.

Is there a 3rd party program or some other method for moving all this mail?

Thanks.

A colleague indicated that he prefers iPhone over android phone because the iPhone is entirely encrypted and all apps download from the Apple store passes thru rigorous process prior being placed on the store.  On the other hand, android phone are not encrypted and you can download apps from anywhere, besides the store; in other words there is little control as to the google store apps as to security.  Finally all who developed apps for iPhone have to pay an anual fee to Apple where as to android no fee - insinuating at one point that a hacker can create an apps load it to google store and all can download it; thus being able to reach millions with ease.

Is there any accuracy to this persons comment? Please advice.

Which AntiVirus program would you recommend for a Mac?

I know that usually a Mac doesn't need one, but still if yes , which one would you recommend?

I am used to typing the first letter or two of a long folder name, then pressing the Tab key. I like tabbing through my options, then pressing Enter when the right one appears.

Can I do this on the Mac terminal?

Thanks

Several users within my organization have reported issues to me where there are file attachments within a Mac Outlook 2016 email but the file attachments are grayed out.

This happens even though the email with the attachment have downloaded into the user's Mac Outlook 2016 Inbox. The users then have to wait anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes for the file attachments to become available and are able to be downloaded (depending upon the speed of their internet connections).

Our organization uses Office 365 as its email provider.

Is there any way of changing this so that Mac Outlook 2016 will completely download the entire email (including all file attachments) so the users won't have to wait for the file attachments to finish downloading when opening the email?

I have 3 Macbook Pro's in the same location, along with 2 Windows PC's.
One of the Macbook Pro's ... just one ... is significantly slower at moving data ... meaning both for Upload/Download speeds over the internet,  as well as moving data files around internally with my LAN. By 'significantly' I mean it moves info about 10-15% of the speed of the other Mac's & PC's. (I measured with speedtest.net and a stopwatch!)
All Macs are configured about the same, HW & SW.

Can anyone offer any tips on how to troubleshoot this type of problem, before I give up and 'assume' that it is a HW (NIC) problem and toss the Mac in the Trash? (no warrantee left)
