macbook air 2014 offered for the price $100with damaged screen.  see attached.
apple support said they can fix for estimate$300
what do you think the problem is?   is it something I can fix on my own?  if not,  would I be able to recover selling parts?

Hello, I have this incredibly weird problem on an old iMac. The customer doesn't remember, but it must be at least 9 years old.
Anyway, this is what happens: when I get to the login page, any mouse doesn't left click. Not the official mouse, not a mouse with cord, none of them. The pointer moves but I can't left click anywhere.
So I made a backup and tried reinstalling MacOS: well, mouses won't left click during the install procedure either. The keyboard works, but no mouse will left click.

I sincerely don't know what may be the problem here, so I decided to ask here and see if anyone had a similar problem.

Thanks.

OSX Sierra - incredibly slow mostly starting Office 2016 applications.  I have a user that when starting any office apps can take 45 mins.  I logged in with a different user profile and all seemed to be fine.  Could this be cache?  Should I delete it, and if so how?  Disktools came up clean. Thoughts? Ideas?
Thanks

So  the original SSD of my niece's Macbook Air (early 2014) had failed. I offered to replace the SSD. Silly me, I wasn't aware that Macbook Airs are quite different from normal laptops ...

I bought the Aura Pro X 240 GB SSD but bad news: the host needed at least High Sierra in order to have it recognize the SSD ... but the laptop only had Yosemite. And since the original SSD is broken I couldn't upgrade Mac OS first ...

When booting the Macbook Air and getting into rescue mode at some point, after having tried a zillion things, I suddenly saw the Aura Pro X SSD in the Disk Utility app! I t was even possible to format it and to then (apparently) re-install Yosemite (for some reason) on it. The installation starts but after the reboot, when it should finish the installation, it can't find the disk anymore and returns to the rescue screens :/

I tried to boot from an install thumb drive but although both my own Macbook Pro and mac mini were able to recognize it, the Macbook Air did not!?

I then tried booting from external HDs with a working MacOS Yosemite system on it (which I created from my Macbook). That worked. But when I then wanted to upgrade that version to High Sierra or Mojava, in order to get the Macbook Air's firmware updated, I was told that this version of MacOS could not be installed on external HDs because they have no firmware partition!?

So I am stuck!? It seems like I can't get it two work without having access to an original Apple SSD with a …

A client is saying they have malware on their Mac and want to reinstall the OS.  I've read through this a bit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208496 and it doesn't seem to say anything about malware issues.

My question is: Is it better to reinstall Mac OS to clear up malware issues or erase then restore to factory settings?

Are there other things I should be aware of when performing such a task for this macbook?

Hi All,

I've got an iMac, which is doing a restart loop, just a white screen and a chime going in a loop.... the screen doesn't go blank when it restarts, stays white and you keep hearing the chime every 2 to 3 seconds, I've tried all the normal fixes, like holding the shift key, pressing command-option-r-p... nothing seems to work, would anyone know a fix?

I know last resort is taking it to Apple but the machine isn't covered by Apple Care...

Thanks

Need iPhone app to track my location

I need to sell on the road and sometimes need a reminder which stores I visited. So, a map if where I went each day would be helpful.

What options do I have?

Is there location data already on the phone I can use?

Thanks

Hello EE, I've been having difficulty with the IDrive backup software for Mac. The backup (to the IDrive cloud)  inevitably will fail on a number of files having to do with Spotlight Search, temporary browser files, the photos library, etc.

I feel that (for the most part) these types of failures can be safely ignored. I also think the reason it fails is because the IDrive software is not capable of suspending the necessary O/S daemons or processes, leading to activity that causes an issue with the file list it generates. However, it is sometimes difficult convincing my clients of this. Also, I don't wish for myself or my clients to become complacent about a backup status of "Failed."

Instead of pursuing a clean IDrive backup in that manner, I've a new strategy: Use Time Machine to backup to an external drive, then use IDrive to backup the external drive to the IDrive cloud. I think this will avoid the issue described above. I'm posting here in Experts-Exchange to ask if anyone has experience with that same strategy, or if there is some risk that I'm not seeing.

Windows laptop versus MacBook?

I am a Mac user and love certain features of the Mac. But I also love the incredibly low prices of a Windows Acer laptop.

There is one KEY FEATURE of the Mac that would make the high cost worth me staying on the Mac platform. Key Word Search!

When I try to search on Windows, you better hurry up and wait. When I use Finder, I nearly instantly get a list of files with the search word found in the filename or inside the file (GREP).

I consider this a life-saving feature that lets me find long-lost files, often when I have no idea (or interest in knowing) the physical location of the file.

Can Windows match this awesome power the Mac OS gives me to peruse my files?

Thanks.

Dear expert,

I have an external drive formatted with NTFS extension. This drive divided into 3 logical drive as you can see below.
I sold my windows PC and I do not have access to any windows PC.
I am looking for a way to merge these logical drives into one drive then use it as backup on TimeMachine.

InDesign CC won't open on my 2018 iMac. It's stuck on loading until I eventually have to force quit. I've tried using past versions of it too, such as 2017, and I get the same issue. My other Adobe programs work fine. I've also tried opening InDesign CC on a work Macbook and a personal Macbook which worked fine. Something about this new iMac is trippy.

Mirror Apple TV on iPad Pro to view MLB-TV

MLB-TV with iPad Pro (iOS 11.4.1) consistently loses WiFi connection with LAN (44.7 mbs / possible 50) iPad rebooting necessary.

Is it possible to mirror Apple TV (MLB-TV OK here) with iPad Pro/Control Panel to view MLB-TV on iPad? Other folks will be watching TV on cable or Netflix/Amazon Prime. This is the reverse of screen mirroring (see Control Panel) as in viewing iDevice on Apple TV.

If so, are there special settings etc.?

Hi

I have a iPad Pro 12.5 inch and want to connect our organisation  0365 mail account.
Not sure what is the best way of connecting the iPad with 0365.

Will it be better to set up through iPad -Settings-accounts-add Account-Exchange

Or

Download Outlook app from AppStore and install and setup 0365

I attempted to recover to different system from Apple Time Machine it eventually failed due to a untimely network error. Now I can not umount disk on the targeted machine. When I say I can not unmount it I mean I CAN NOT unmount it no matter what approach I use:
Disk utility -- no
Recover -- no
terminal -- no
force via terminal --no
set as a target disk -- no

terminal commands tried were unmout, unmountDisk, unmountVolume
when using recovery on target machine terminal returns the command "no such command"   (so terminal is currupt?)
I have tried all the logical options Google has presented me, I am hoping someone here has a different solution.
Thanks

Does anyone know what I need to change to get this VBA code to work in Excel for Mac? It works fine in Windows.

It is a show/hide toggle button for rows while the caption on the button changes as well. I used a form button (not ActiveX).

Sub HideDone()
Dim Shp As Shape

   Set Shp = ActiveSheet.Shapes(Application.Caller)
If Shp.TextFrame.Characters.Text = "Hide Done" Then
      Shp.TextFrame.Characters.Text = "Show All"
      Range("A1").AutoFilter 10, "<>11. Published", xlAnd, "<>Cancelled"
   Else
      Shp.TextFrame.Characters.Text = "Hide Done"
      ActiveSheet.ShowAllData
   End If
End Sub

The message I get is
Run-time error 1004
Method 'TextFrame' of object 'Shape' failed

This code is highlighted in yellow
If Shp.TextFrame.Characters.Text = "Hide Done" Then

Hello experts,

As new users to Mac ecosystem, we were glad that we got the MacBook Air last year and didn't have to worry about buying anything extra in order to work using Air.

The USB ports and the Mini DP was good enough to work with our existing monitor, keyboard and mouse setup.

However, we recently bought the late 2016 MacBook Pro with touch bar with those obnoxious USB-C ports.

Would be great if someone recommends nice adapters/converters to use our USB keyboard and mouse and also a converter from HDMI to USB-C or a proper cable from HDMI to USB C port that would work without any issues on the MacBook Pro.

Came across this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BK2XL2F

Since these converters and cables are cash cows for FBA sellers, there are tons of these on Amazon making it very hard to shortlist.

Any thoughts would be nice. Thanks!
