I have a KVM connected to my primary computer and secondary computer. Monitors 1 & 2 are connected to my primary computer and monitor 3 is connected to the KVM over HDMI. The problem I am having is that when I switch back to my primary computer whatever I had on monitor 3 prior to switching to my secondary computer is kicked over to monitor 1. I then have to move it back over to monitor 3. I know that when I switch to the secondary computer my primary computer loses connections to monitor 3 and this is causing the problem.

Is there a way configure the primary computer to drop the connection to monitor 3 when switching the KVM?

Host is RHEL7, running kvm.  Guest is Ubuntu 18.04 desktop.  On the host i have a large amount of storage which is xfs formatted and needs to stay mounted.  One option I was thinking of to give read write access in the guest to the same data was to export the mount via nfs to the guest, then in the guest mount the nfs share, but are there better ways to approach the solution?  Any gotchas or risks with my approach?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Technical Gurus ,

I need your worthy advice and guidance . Actually we are building our data center and for server virtualization , I need expert suggestion . Either we should go for KVM or VMWARE . As of course , KVM is an open source , the management would prefer to go with KVM to reduce the cost but  I need solid reasons if I refuse to go with KVM and instead opt for VMWARE . In any case I need you guys expert opinion to choose either one for our data center servers virtualization .  The brief summary of our network requirement is that we need 150 cores and 350 GB RAM ,,, we plan to purchase 6 servers with 28 cores each and plus six more for high availability. I need your worthy guidance regarding the selection for virtualization.

Best Regards

Masud
