Hi,

I have set up a free wordpress account and I also have my own spare website, call it xyz.info.uk.  I have enough knowledge to publish my own basic site.

I want to set up a blog.

Right, can I publish a blog to that site?
Would this be the best way to do it.
Could the blog be just a part of the website, ie contained in it eg xyz.info.uk/blog

I am a bit lost with blogs and I cant quite make out my options from the wordpress site.

I found ben forta site has a blog.. that is built in coldfusion but acts like wordpress...

I have a website that I am working on that is Wordpress based using the Thesis theme. I would like to create a number of pages that are attached to a cascading menu as follows

Media > Images > Festival 1 > Festival 2
              Sounds > Clip1 > Clip2

I would like to disable the click on the media, images and sounds pages so that the user can only select from the next level down because at the moment ,they go to a blank page when clicking one of the aforementioned 3 pages.

Hope I have explained this well enough.

Regards,

Keith.

I acknowledge from the start that this is a hack and then some.  I'm fully open to anything that can improve what I'm doing.

I have a form on a page in WordPress.

It has two pulldown <select> menus and a set of checkbox options.

Each of the inputs has a value="" of some number that corresponds to a WordPress category.

The intended function of my form once it's submitted is to show only pages that have all of the selected categories.  That's the important part.  The pages must have all of the categories selected.  If the user chooses categories 3,4, and 18, then I want to only show the posts that are associated with categories 3,4, and 18.  If there aren't any that match, that's obviously fine.

Here's the form:

<form method="post" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];?>" id="trip-finder-form">
<select name="region" id="region">
<option value=" ">All Regions</option>
<option value="41">Andalusia</option>
<option value="42">Asturias</option>
<option value="43">Catalonia</option>
<option value="44">Galicia</option>
<option value="45">Valencia</option>
</select>

<select name="month" id="month">
    <option value=" ">All Months</option>
    <option value="17">January</option>
    <option value="18">February</option>
    <option value="19">March</option>
    <option value="20">April</option>
    <option value="21">May</option>
    <option value="22">June</option>
    <option value="23">July</option>
    <option value="24">August</option>
    <option

All of a sudden a WordPress blog that has been working for several years, with no code changes stopped working.  On running FileZilla I find that all the files have a modified date of 8/8/2013 which makes no sense.

I tried rolling back to the files/folders from two weeks back and still get the same error.  It seems to me like there was a hack and some malware put on the server.  It is at GoDaddy and I think it's a Linux server which I thought couldn't be hacked this way.

The tech support person at GoDaddy tells me that all the PHP files that he and his associate reviewed have garbage on the top of the files which explains why it doesn't work, but not how they were corrupted nor what to do to recover.  I tried rolling back all files and folders to  two weeks back to no avail.

I haven't a clue how to correct and so far neither does GoDaddy.

Here's the error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /home/content/78/7828678/html/wp-blog-header.php on line 4

Hello

I am trying to create an email template for a MailChimp account that will bring in the RSS feed. Everything is coming in fine except for the post image. For other emal newsletter services I've successfully used the <enclosure> tag to bring in the post image. MailChimp is saying that I need to use the <media:content> tag. But I can't get my feed to validate using this tag. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Below is a link to my rss feed. Since it's throwing errors you'll only be able to see it from the "view-source" functionality
view-source:http://americanalpsranch.com/blog/rss

Without the <media:content> everything works fine so I must be implementing it incorrectly. Below is the rss feed with just one post showing. I've also tried just using <media:content url="" /> but that didn't work either.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<rss version="2.0"

Hi,

I have 1 wordpress multi-page blog post that has about 40 pages and i would like to add a comment option to each of the pages. Now it's not showing.

The comment option works for single page blog posts. How do i also add this to multiple page blog posts?

Thanks!

For someone who already understands SEO, the significance of meta descriptions and the uniqueness of each description, using relevant keywords of course and keeping within the rules - 156 characters, no repeating keywords if not necessary, early and often, etc.

Please advise on how long you think would be a fair estimate to write 706 meta descriptions for 20 unique websites? The 706 figure is for a total of all 20 unique websites and not per site. Would it be like 100 meta descripts in an 8 hour period, 300? I just need a general type of time frame so I can let a company know. 2 weeks? 2 days? I've done it but have not had to estimate this way. Usually people ask me for keyword research, not to just churn out meta descripts. Any advice, guesses, etc. would be welcome. An actual reference would be greatly welcomed!

Do these have any impact or can they be safely ignorned? These are from mainly WP sites.

I will be setting up a landing page for a campaign and will direct people to the landing page to collect their email address. This would be in exchange for a free e-book. I researched in Google and found that through Unbounce.com I can set up a landing page and with Mail Chimp I can set up a signup form. Am I on the right track here or is there another way of doing this? Also, once they provide the email address how do I provide a link to download the book? I was not able to find information on this subject. I would like to mention that I have a website and blog, however, I am unclear whether I would I be able to create a signup form and a download link on a blog without the use of a landing page and in an easy way? Please advise. Thanks very much for your kind help.

Hi there, have a WordPress-based site that works fine.  I installed a new theme and it works just fine, but I've found that I need to go and manually update each and every post (and I've got over 7000 of them) for the new theme to "take hold."

What I want to do is find a way, either via a SQL command or plugin, that will automatically update these posts so that I don't have to do it manually.  I've tried this: http://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-field-bulk-editor/ to no avail.

So you can get a visual, here's a blog post that doesn't look right:
http://64.13.228.218/blu-ray/jaws-blu-ray

Yet if I were to go and "edit" that post (and not actually do anything other than hit the Update button) it'd look like this (below):

http://64.13.228.218/blu-ray/van-helsing-steelbook-blu-ray

Note that the sidebar is now on the left, where I want it and the page title bar and header are also present (part of the theme).

I'm sure there's got to be an easy fix out there, so wanted to ask.  Otherwise I'll spend a few days manually going through 7000 posts.  I don't want to do that.

Hi,
I have set up child pages with each having its own category name.  I have a main page that I want to pull in the thumbnail (featured image), title, excerpt, and custom field data (not sure what this will be yet) for each of these child pages. Please note that these are not posts but pages.

I have created a custom page template for the main page but need help on how to add in the query for the child pages data.

Thanks

I have a site at http://www.threeforksbible.org in WP 3.5.2. The client would like to change the Sermons page in the main body to be titled "Messages" instead of "Archives" (although the sidebar Archives header is fine). I have searched through the theme editor files and through the css files without success to find and rename the header. I expect it to be editable in a css or php file, but which one?

I have a registered domain. I would like to set-up a website that has <25 pages initially, but will be actively blogging (say once in a week).

At various points I would like to do the following:

Share some documents
Enable chat on the site
May be have a forum
Even accept online payments

What is a good starting point to start cost effectively now that could also scale to the above features in about a year?

I use Skype for important, hour-long audio-only calls.

Over the past three weeks or so, after 10 minutes of call, Skype loses my voice though I can hear the person(s) I'm speaking with.

I've checked with Bell Canada, the Telco that provides my internet service. So far they have nothing to report.

Suggestions, please, for a strategy to identify the source of and find a fix for this problem, please?

Dear experts,

I was wondering if there is a way to create a Wordpress page in which I can upload different files. Attached goes an example of what I am talking about.
Thank you very much,

Hello,

Wordpress.com provides an option to schedule posts so that they are published at a future date. We would like to see a record of the post history to determine which posts/pages were scheduled and if their publish date was changed.  Is there a way to determine this once they've been published?

Hi i have a application folder called /blogengine/
and all works fine, but want it to look like blog.mysite.co.uk

Tring to use this in web.config file but does not seem to make a diffecence, do i need to put it both root config and folder config (if not which one its in the root one at the moment)

     <rule name="blogDir" enabled="true">
          <match url="(.*)" />
          <conditions logicalGrouping="MatchAny">
            <add input="{HTTP_HOST}" pattern="^blog.mysite\.co\.uk$" />
          </conditions>
          <action type="Rewrite" url="\blogengine\{R:0}" />
        </rule>

Open in new window

Everyone seems to say about different ways to do this like take ot the / and use {R:1} so also tried this and lots of others but now joy just dont get how they work so dont know what I am doing wrong.

<rule name="Rewrite blog-domain to blogengine" enabled="true">
            <match url="(.*)$" />
            <conditions>
              <add input="{HTTP_HOST}" pattern="^blog.mysite.co.uk$" />
            </conditions>
            <action type="Rewrite" url="\blogengine\{R:1}" />
          </rule>

Open in new window

or

<rule name="Rewrite sub-domain to dir" enabled="true">
          <match url="^(.*)$" />
          <conditions>
             <add input="{HTTP_HOST}" pattern="^blog\.mysite\.co\.uk$" />
          </conditions>
          <action type="Rewrite" url="blogengine/{R:1}" />
       </rule>

so the hex color for each row i need to stretch out the background color if the screen is larger than the website. so example if the first page has blue for one block then orange the next I need it to show along the side of each row. how would you suggest i do this using different hex colors for a background.?
