A blog is a discussion or informational site consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs can be the work of a single individual but more recently "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited and "microblogging" systems help integrate blogs into societal newstreams.

I build blogs with wordpress.

I'm wondering how to build a blog that uses the navigation that I have in the rest of my site so I don't have to update 2 navigations.

Here's my site:

I want the menu on the left to be there even in the blog pages.

Hi Expert, I have members on my server and each member has username (ID) and password. I need to create a web page (php) for those members to enter their (UaserName) and (password) LDAP  authentication, please I need the commands for this block

I'm trying to make a list on a web page from a google news rss feed.  It's a list of my client "in the news", so stories on him as an expert on gold as a commodity.

Something weird happened and in the last couple of weeks a long list turned into one item, and it seems to have something to do with the fact that it is now only searching the last 30 days.  I think google has everything else as an archive.  If I go into the google archive search with the same keywords I get tons of articles.

I have the feed information below.  For the life of me, I can't find any documentation on how to structure such a feed, and definitely nothing on this feed as an archive.  Is there a resource to help create the syntax?  Is there one for dates, or for an archive search?

This is on a Wordpress page so if there is a plugin for this, that would be great.  Maybe I should make a plugin....

I'm looking for some good chat/boards examples.  Any sites with good group board examples?
I am looking for something for something like a CMS or blog framework that I can use at all levels.
1) Access the DB (SQL Server) directly (The DB layout should not be much more complex than a self written app)
2) Business logic
3) Web parts /Controls (For example login, most read articles)

In the beginning, the fronted (GUI/.ASPX) would be written by us.  Admin would be done in the framework.  Point 1) Is to be sure we have full control on performance and also little binding to the framework.
The web site will contain articles with comments, like Digg or a blog.

One nice framework is Eucalypto:
Though it uses NHibernate, so it doesn't meet criteria 1), also in the upper layers iit s just a demo project.
I think for any answer it should be clear how it relates to at least some of my criteria.
It could also be a discussion of how for example DotNetNuke or other important ASP.NET frameworks fits in (Even if  it doesn't fit all my criteria.

Hi, I am looking for some tips/suggestions to improve the SEO of my website.  We have written nearly 2000 custom articles on our site with very rich content.  We are at about 1500 a day from search but looking to take it to the next level.  I don't know much but I think that some small changes to the site architecture could drastically improve our search volume given the amount of content and keyword optimization we have done.

Can anyone suggest any glaring issues that they see?  If so, how would I fix them?

We are using drupal 5.7
I have a project and I'm hoping that you guys can help me figure out what the easiest way is to accomplish this. What I want to do is basically set up a blog, but I want to be able to tag each post with a physical location (longitude and latitude coordinates). I'm hoping that whatever tool I'm using would then make it relatively straightforward for me to do things like show all the locations on a Google Map or sort the posts in order of their distance from a certain place, generally be able to hand this post meta-data off to other bits of code.

So far I looked at things like WordPress and Drupal (I might be totally looking in the wrong places) but they don't seem to be able to do what I need. (Then again, I didn't spend too much time playing with them and their various plug-ins.) I'm not opposed writing my own code, but I figure if I need to modify one of these applications' cores, it would just be easier to write my own crude content management system.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi, I have an issue with displaying JavaScript code in drupal within a node.  Basically, I am inserting a JavaScript advertisement into the node by left aligning it to the text.  For some reason, it works fine in Firefox, but refuses to even show up in IE.  Please help, I have been trying to fix this for months now.

FYI....I have been using the "Ad" module in drupal to insert the code.  I am not stuck to this module if you believe it is not appropriate.  The reason I need to insert a javascript code is to geo-target the users using Google Ad Manager.

You can see an example of the image ad that we are currently using, here:

The "free instant analysis" ad is where we want to insert this javascript ad.

I think the way I coded it is structurally sound but there may be an issue in the style sheet?  If you need me to send any of my drupal files to you, please let me know
Hi, I have seen on many sites, including Experts exchange, articles and pages that come up in search engines that display half of an article then require you to login or sign up in order to view the rest of it.  Experts exchange displays questions and then requires you to login if you want to see the answers.

I am going to be starting a password protected blog, but I still want the posts to be searchable on search engines because this is a big part of my marketing strategy.  I want half of a page to display normally and then a notice to be displayed that prompts them for a login or registration if they want to see the remainder of the article.

How can I easily do this?  Is there a 3rd party service that can do this, or is there an easy way for me to do it myself?  What would be the most efficient way to do it, and can anyone post some examples of sites or articles that have this feature, I can't seem to think of any offhand, but I have seen them many times.

I have spent days looking for medical blogs with no nofollow attribute that will give a link back to my website.

If you can come up with a list or even one, let me know. When commenting on these blogs, I must be able to get a link back to my website with no nofollow attribute.

I have spent days looking for them so this is my last resort. The higher the pagerank the better.

Thanks guys!
I'm working on creating a semi-private online journal, one that is written by one party and displayed on their private page which exports to an RSS feed.  Simple enough, but those posts also need to be tagged as "read" with text or an image on the page once the other party has accessed their RSS posts.

Very similar to how email clients mark email as read, once they are viewed.  Also very similar to "Read Receipts" in Outlook.

In a nutshell, I'm trying to figure out how to get the RSS reader to report back to the site once a post is read.

Is this possible, or am I going about this the wrong way?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I got into safe mode to run a virus scan & am unable to login due to an unknown administrator password. Can you please let me know the best way to get back into normal mode. I have tried booting thru a Bart CD & attempting to change the MSCONFIG settings to no avail.

Appreciate your help.
I recently upgraded from Windows Server 2000 To Windows Server 2008.  I went through all the steps; verifying SPs were updated on both old and new servers, ran virus scan on old prior to migration, changed the domain functional level on 2000 to native mode, upgraded the 2000 forest schema by running adprep/forest prep, updgraded 2000 domain schema by running adprep/domainprep, verified new servers TCP/IP configuration is pointed to existing DNS server, added new server to 2000 domain as a member server, ran dcpromo on new server to promote it as an additional DC in existing domain, enabled GC on new server and made sure to check Replication Technology, synchronized AD between the two, disabled GC on old server, transferred the FSMO roles, Installed DNS on new server and configured it, migrated DHCP configurations to new server, migrated file sharing and I'm having the following problems:
1. Mapped network drive for main application users share and use on a daily basis disappears on reboot.  (I have tried all solutions I could find, so far nothing is working)
2. If I shut down old server completely I lose internet and email
3. One XP Pro computer still cannot be mapped to shared drive at all as it gives an error of access denied

I have tried everything I know to do to correct these issues and am just to the point of frustration. Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

I'm having a heck of a time finding high pagrank relevant blogs that don't have the nofollow attribute enabled.

Any ideas?

Like one of our sites sells mirrors. I searched through Google's Blog search engine for about an hour and didn't find one above pagerank 2 that didn't have a nofollow attribute.

The best blogs would be any leading industry blogs without nofollows, but I'll settle for relevant content blogs above pagerank 2 without nofollows

I have sites with various topics, including mirrors, medical, furniture.

Can you tell from the URL?
Hi experts,

I have a blog on blogspot of about 150 entries, about 1 page each, which I grow every week, and which are of interest to a specialized group of about 6,000 people. I would like to start collecting them all on the web, sort of wikipedia. Of course, it needs to be searchable, but no additional requirements. Almost any software should fit. Which one would you recommend?

Why do I want it on a web site and not on a blog? To give it a more permanent nature, to be searchable, and to be more comfortable for non-technical people.

Thank you.
I know there is a way to do this, and I know someone can help us.

We are adding a forum to our WordPress Blog. We are using bbpress. We can't figure out how to load the forum into our blog content area. We were able to create a new page in the admin area and put an iframe in there and it showed it but that is lame. It needs to be its own page under the header and in the blog environment.

We have tried duplicating the index.php file in our theme and calling it forum.php. Then we edited header.php to add a link to it but when we click the page it takes us to a blank page.

I have designed a theme for our forum so that it is very clean and will easily fit beneath the header as we removed the header from our forum. We don't want to just have a link to the actual forum because we want to stay inside the blogs theme, header, etc.

We added an iframe to show the forum in the index page and it showed up fine. Seemless, but we need to add a page called forum and link to it.

How can we do this?

If you don't quite get what we're trying to do I can clarify if you state what doesn't make sense.

Thanks in advance.

I had multiple boot systems installed on my laptop. Linux and window xp are installed on separate partitions. Laptop has more than two partition. Couple of weeks ago, I couldn't boot into windows system. Don't remember exactly but think I wasn't even getting to the boot menu. I tried to do some search but couldn't restore the system. I didn't want to lose any data, so I installed a new window xp on partition D. The original winxp is installed on C partition

After new installation, the boot menu showed only two selection. New winxp and previous winxp and didn't show Linux and one more boot option. I can login to new installation fine.

Now I can also bring up my old windows by selecting it from boot menu, but it will display on lower RHS  "This copy of windows is not activated" and when I tried to login, it will logoff by itself. I tried last known, but it will do the same logoff routine after I try to login. But I can now login to previous windows in Safe mode.

Can some please help me getting rid of windows activation message, which I think is causing the problem? and also how can I get my old boot menu. I have no problem deleting the new installation once the problem is resolved. Your help will be highly appreciated.

I have the code below which i got from google analytics for site tracking to add it in my blogger website?

[code]<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
<script type="text/javascript">
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-69*****2-1");
} catch(err) {}</script>
I'm creating an app that will be a kind of mood ring for the internet. I'm looking for some sort of query-able RSS feed (looking for the words "I feel") that can also return the author's age, gender, and location details. I'm mostly looking for personal blogs as obviously news sites will not have as much emotional content. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
I have created a website in Dreamweaver CS3. I want to put a blog into the website. Is this possible? I tried some different things with a wordpress blog and a Blogger blog and tried to follow tips on how to copy the templates from the blog sites to Dreamweaver and then be able to add the blog tags to the specific web page in my website that i want the blog to appear on. Before I spend to many hours attempting this i wanted to find out first whether its possible, and second if it is whats the most recommended way of accomplishing this? Thanks.
If you look here:

you can see that that theme has little icons next to each of the Categories,Archives,Recent Posts etc on the right hand side bars... for example the Meta box has a hand with a pointy finger for the three links there..

How is that done? do i need some special plugin to have that on my WP theme?

I have a wordpress blog. it have a option to change Permalinks. So if i change permalinks by adding(postname).html in end (even though it is yet dynamic) rather that (postname)/ it works.. i tried by adding .aspx to so it would look professional .net blog and it too works!!!. but can it make a difference in Search Engine Optimization.  Although none of them is static. both option are dynamic query anyway
