Blogs

A blog is a discussion or informational site consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs can be the work of a single individual but more recently "multi-author blogs" (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited and "microblogging" systems help integrate blogs into societal newstreams.

Hello and Good Morning Everyone

            I was able to successfully sign up for blogger at blogger.com.  With respect to a blog I started last night, I am unable to sign into it because of the following error message: bX-w7tr63.  Also, I get a message within a separate window indicating there are no post despite the fact that I do indeed have one with a title. To be perfectly honest, I am very new at setting up and designing blogs.  Naturally, I am not sure what direction to take with respect to resolving this error message.

            Any assistance which can get me on the right track here will be deeply appreciated.  In the meantime, I look forward to hearing back from everyone,

            Thank you

Hi,

I'm relatively new to WordPress. I use this Klasik Framework Theme and added Feature and Fortfolio widget on Home Main Top. When i clicked the link of the post or page it will open the content but the feature and fortfolio images from home is still there and my content is appended below it.

I want to be able to open a new page without those widgets from my homepage just my content. How do i do that?

Attached is the screenshot of what I'm talking about.  Thanks in advance.

My primary website URL is www.primary1.com. This site was hand coded and we have decided to go with a WordPress installation.

We kept the primary website live and created a sub-domain on a different servers. The URL for the newly developed site is site.primary1.com.

I would like to move site.primary1.com to a new hosting provider. During the move I changed site.primary1.com to temp.primary1.com. The homepage works on the site, however, none of the other WordPress pages work. It's giving me a 404 Not Found error.

I have no problem giving the real domain names. The only difference is the primary1 is something else.

Any suggestions on resolving this issue?

My client wants to post on her own site articles from around the web in which her company is mentioned, with attribution and links back to the original sites.  From the perspectives of both Google and the sites from which the articles were originally published, is this acceptable?  If not, is there an acceptable way to do this?

Thanks!

Regards,
Jonathan

Hello, I have a blog that I would like to edit and my HTML knowledge is very basic. I have created couple of pages and would like to place a view of all the related posts to this page.

for example, I have a page called "Exchange" and have already posted many articles about Exchange and they all have "Exchange" labels and categorized as Exchange too and I would like for those posts to appear when someone click on the Exchange "tab".

I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Hi there!

In my Wordpress theme I want to have a custom post type and for that custom post type some categories. My problem is how to get the actual values for the categories into the database. As far as I understood it I have to populate the category values when the theme is activated. I tried that but I might be doing something completely wrong (see code below).

When I try to use my code the custom post type and the category are visible but there are no values in my category. I would expect to see "Sales" and "Rental" in there.

I debugged it a little and found that the call to wp_insert_term returns an error:
object(WP_Error)#124 (2) { ["errors":"WP_Error":private]=> array(1) { ["invalid_taxonomy"]=> array(1) { [0]=> string(16) "Invalid taxonomy" } } ["error_data":"WP_Error":private]=> array(0) { } }

As far as I see it this is clear because callbacks in 'after_setup_theme' are executed before callbacks in 'init'. Since my custom post type is registered in 'init' and the call to wp_insert_term is before that, it must fail. But I also read that custom post types should be registered in 'init' and not in 'after_setup_theme'. So I am stuck here!

I am completely confused how to set this up correctly. Can somebody please explain to be how setting up a custom post type with categories is supposed to be done?

Many thanks in advance,
Dirk.

Since I am amidst experts, I thought I ask opinions on this

I was told many a times that Keyword is no longer the key to SEO now. So I googled around to find techniques and found this set of SEO techniques

http://backlinko.com/seo-techniques

Do you agree with all the techniques suggested? If you have limited resources to do all (when your startup only have you, yourself and your shadow doing this SEO thingy and a million other stuff)... which few techniques listed will you focus on?

Thanks again!

I'm running Wordpress 4.1 in Windows Server 2012.  I've created a post with a gallery of images.  The images were uploaded to the img folder under the root folder for the web site.  When I view the post, I can see the gallery of images, but when I click on an image, I get "The Image could not be loaded".  So I don't get the full size image in a slideshow.  I'm using the DIVI theme. I understand this has something to do with Windows permissions, but have no idea how to fix it.

I have just installed WordPress version 4.1 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.  Nothing fancy, just learning the ropes. I have created a page called "Contact Us" and then went to Settings->Permalinks and selected a Post Name radio button. When I then go to look at the page I get "HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found".

I have tried troubleshooting it, but anything I have found on the web points to a file called .htaccess which is supposed to reside in the root directory of my WordPress website folder. However, I cannot find such a file.

At this point I'm at a loss to resolve this problem.

Dear Experts, I am a HTML and CSS guy but more and more I inherit WP sites and figure I need to brush up on my PHP.

At least that's where I think my trouble is. Currently I have the following problem. This site:

http://www.softwarelogistics.co.uk/

On the home page is a section split in half, left is a testimonials section, the right is currently empty. It used to contain a Twitter feed, but they realised that there is not enough twitter traffic, so having old news is seen as detrimental and the section needs to go.

I have disabled the Twitter plugin and the idea is to have the Testimonials section extend across, or find new content for the right half.

How do i go about extending the left section to span across, and secondly if that is not easily done how do I "plug" something else in there instead?

Many thanks
capt.

Hi Everyone,

I am having issues importing a wordpress db into my new hosting site.

I did import a non-wordpress db just fine so I know the user has permission.  Yesterday I imported a wordpress db into another website on the same hosting just fine after I edited the db with the correct name of the new db and character set.

I read on a related post on this site that since wp_commentmeta is at the beginning seems the whole script is failing.

Looking at the error message:

having a wordpress theme installed on my website, along with a child theme, I have made some alterations to the parent theme as well  to the child theme. I would like to start from scratch again, and keeping the option to use the old theme, when I am not working on the new one. Is it possible to have multiple versions of the same theme, ie. is it possible to install another "instance" of the existing pair of child and parent themes so that WP will allow me to switsch from the old set of themes to the new set, so that visitors to the theme will only experience downtime og reduced functionality while I am actually working on the new theme.

I suspect that I would be able to install another child theme, and name it differently in the child version of the style.css, but I am afraid that I have made some changes to the parent theme as well. So what I am asking is really if it is possible to install the existing parent theme with another name, and reference that name in a new child theme.

I do not see why not, but if my "experience" in this field has told me anything, it must be that I should trust the ideas, I believe to be obvious

Hey, I encountered some problems with a theme, I am trying to set up for a friend. The theme is called Multipress, is from Momizat.

In trying to figure out the way to change the text in the "read more" link, I was advised to change the PO- and the MO files with a program called poedit.

I then tried to alter different language files in the wp-content/multipress/languages folder.   Here is what I did in multiple instances (with different sets of  PO- and MO-files):

1. With Filezilla I downloaded the PO-file, and put an .old extension on the files (the PO and Mo)  on the server.
2. I then opened the PO file with POedit, made the correction to the "read more" text, saved the new po file version and compiled an new corresponding mo-file. I then uploaded the new files back  to the languages folder.

This changed nothing. There were several sets of PO and MO-files in the folder, and I tried the above procedure with sevberal of them, including one called default.po (and .mo).

I then - on the basis on advice from the Momizat Support - proceeded to try a plugin called codestyling-localiation, which did not work.

The  main Question is of course: What is my mistake?

I suspect that I am  somehow  tampering with the wrong files. So one way to reframe the question is

which files are the right ones?

or

Is there a way a setting somewhere that points to the files being used (so I can now which one to change, or change the setting)?

All the best…

I have a http://www.coreenergetics.com.br/core domain and my client wants in the sidebar appear the last post grouped by month.

I almost got close, but the months are doubling ... how do I make it: (Month + Posts this month) and not (Month + Posts, Posts month + ...)

The code I'm using is:

<ul>
<? php
   $ aRecentPosts = new WP_Query ("showposts = 10");
    while (aRecentPosts-> have_posts $ ()): $ aRecentPosts-> the_post ();?>
         <li> <strong> <? php the_time ('F Y')?> </ strong> </ li>
         <li> <a href="<?php the_permalink() ?> "> <? php the_title ()? a> </ li>
   <? php endwhile; ?>
</ ul>

How can I either add attachment in my own profile or send attachment to another user

Why does this section exist if there is no way to create/send attachment

Since I moved from reseller to a VPS: All of my webmaster woes appear to be with https. I am at a loss as to what the problem could be since I whitelisted every Google IP. All of my http domains have no problem with google indexing the site, accessing robots.txt or sitemap.xml.

Page speed guide went from A, B to D, C grade at GTMetrix for http / Analysis Error
The page took too long to load for https.

Pingdom gets an error for https

Google Dev. Page Speed Insights = An error occurred while fetching or analyzing the page.

Google Webmaster: Fetch as Google = Temporarily unreachable

You have a robots.txt file that we are currently unable to fetch.

The https sites have been verified with Google - I had to do this via a domain .txt record because Google could not access my site via meta or .html verification.

I tested by disabling Wordfence & Cloudflare - no joy. I do have w3 Total cache too. So, where do I begin?

The sites are https://teksquisite.comhttps://teksecurityblog.com

Any help or direction to narrow the problem down would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

Hey. Having tried a lot of different themes for my wordpress site, I have been wondering about the "waste of screenspace" of many themes. Generally it seems like many of them puts the content as well as the sidebars in a narrow "frame" in the middle, leaving lots of space to the left and right. This is on the case on desktop and laptop monitors, but not on tablets and smartphones

My questions are:

1. Does the waste of space on computer-screens stem from the responsiveness to tablets and smartphones, i. is the waste of space on larger screens  a consequence of the themes ability to adapt to smaller.

2. Are there any other good reasons for the rather wide margins of most themes?

All the best, MH

Hi

I have been handed a Wordpress site which I supposedly 90% complete. I have set the database up for it importing the data and linked the site to MySQL. WHen I go to the wordpress CMS for the site it allows me to login and seems to function correctly.

The issue is the front end (the site which user will see) throws a 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied when you go tot he url.

Any assistance on how to get the site up and running again would be much appreciated.

I am trying to modify my wordpress site but not sure how to edit things to get what I want.

My site is called http://howtomakemoneyexpert.com/ and you will see that there white space above the slider. I want this removed so the top of the slider is placed at the same height as in the site theme demo link below:

http://themes.goodlayers2.com/?theme=flawless

Please advise where I might make this change.

How should I go about posting pictures and videos from other websites on my website without violating any copyright laws of the authors or side to originally hosted them

I am not selling the pictures and videos I am simply trying to create a public repository of pictures and videos from other sites

Videos from public sites like YouTube shouldn't be an issue how about photographer you from an authors site I'm not sellingThe media I want to channel people through my site to the authors and originating sources

If having the authors media on my site without me sending them is legal than that wraps up my confusion

However if not or if I should at least alert the authors that I will be using their media on my site can I use that as a business venture until the author that my goal is to Tonnele more traffic to their site?
