I just installed WordPress on a site. I am not very good with it, but I can change headers/footers/links as need be.

The WP version is 3.8
I just installed the twentyeleven theme and have Activated it and updated it.
Even though twentyeleven is Activated, WP is showing twentyfourteen as the active theme.
Any idea why?

I am logged in to WPMU's website with my username and password, but I can't see how to post a new thread in the WPMU Dev Forum.

I know I'm overlooking it, but can someone just point out to me how to do this?

I have a word press install here  I am trying to fix the CSS of the tags (black boxes under the post).  I have the "terrifico" theme.  Have searched everywhere and can't see where you edit the colors of these little guys.
Starting a new word press install here

The first post has an image, links, and paragraphs breaks in it. If you click on the post you will see that it formats correctly, but the home page (link above) seems to remove all that.  Can't figure out how to fix this.  I want the full post with all it's formatting showing up on the home page.

Is it possible to downgrade the wordpress version using Installatron?

I searched Google and the Installatron website, but I couldn't find an answer.

Thanks you!
I have a website that I would like to embed feeds from my blogger account.  Basically show the top 5 or 6 blog post snippets in a sidebar that link to the blog.  What is the best way to embed.  The website uses standard HTML and classic ASP VB
I have a question about the Microsoft Technet forums:

Short question:  All forum responses appear twice and out of chronological order. Why?

Long question:  I'm frequently scanning search results while a server is in trouble.  My memory should be concentrating on the problem at hand, not distracted by the awkward format of Technet results.

If I only knew the logic behind the forum.  Perhaps Microsoft doesn't care about browser results and they expect me to read with an app.  Please advise.

I also imagine a scenario where Microsoft upgraded IIS or other backend technologies, making a mess of legacy forum technology.

Whatever the answer, I'm sure there's an expert on the subject, thanks in advance.

I would like to find a way that will automatically create an xml file on my server everytime I write a post.  It needs to be separate xml file per post rather than one xml file containing all posts.

I am deciding between and .com.  I would prefer to have the hosting and admin of .com.  However, I want the ability to embed the stream on one of my own pages.  Basically, I don't want all the template design.  Can I do this with .com?

I have been trying to make the secondary sidebar appear on the right hand side of only blog posts and blog type pages... i want my pages to ignore it...

the easiest solution seems to be to comment out <?php //get_sidebar(); ?> in pages.php, the problem is that wordpress still shows it the div area (minus the content) and squishes the_content()

So to summarize, how do I make the sidebar appear in only index/categories/tags/searches/author/ect  but not in pages

I would show you a sample, but my site is live and I dont want it to appear broken
Is there a way to open up a menu link in new browser window/tab.   I have added an additional menu on the top, but the links are to external sites and I would like to have them open up in a new window.
I am trying to add an additional menu above Main Navigation in the header of my Wordpress site.

Currently I have the following Code in my functions.php...

/*Top Menu Navigation */

register_nav_menu( 'topnav', __( 'Top Nav Menu', 'customizr' ) );

/* Main Menu Navigation */

add_filter('tc_menu_display', 'acub_menu_display');
function acub_menu_display($output) {
    echo preg_replace('| class="dropdown-toggle" data-toggle="dropdown" data-target="#"(.+?)<b |', ' class="a-stripped" $1</a><a href="#" class="dropdown-toggle a-caret" data-toggle="dropdown" data-target="#"><b ', $output, -1);

I have the following code in my header.php, and I see the menu items above all pages including the dashboard and it breaks my wordpess administration pages.

wp_nav_menu( array( 'theme_location' => 'topnav', 'container_class' => 'topnav-menu' ) );

I am not yet comfortable working with PHP.

Here is the placement in my code.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<!--[if IE 7]>
<html class="ie ie7" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
<!--[if IE 8]>
<html class="ie ie8" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
<!--[if !(IE 7) | !(IE 8)  ]><!-->
<html <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
<?php tc__f('rec' , __FILE__ , __FUNCTION__ ); ?>

      <?php do_action( '__before_body' ); ?>

      <body <?php body_class(); ?> itemscope …
I am unable to see the admin login and access the wordpress dashboard on my local host.  I can't find the  htaccess file either, I'm not sure where the file should be located.  Not seeing it in search on my mac.

I'm guessing this is why it is not working on my local host.  Everything is fine in production.
I want to add an additional navigation menu in my header that will appear above my current navigation menu.  I am using the Customizr theme with a child theme.

I have may have found the solution here, ( ) but I can't figure out where I am supposed to put the code. I'm still fairly new to Wordpress.

If you can  please review  the above link and let me know if this is truly the solution and if it is, can  you please assist me in where to place the code in my Wordpress site?

I am in the early stages of understanding how Wordpress  and php works.  I have developed a child theme and my question is when placing functions.php into my child theme directory, should the functions.php file in my child theme be a copy of the parent theme functions.php with my changes appended to it, or should the child theme functions.php be stripped of everything from the parent functions.php with only my changes?

Sorry, I know that is a long question and hopefully it makes sense.  Just trying to get an understanding of how this works.

Thank you.
Hi Experts,

I wanted to know if there is a template of this website ( in function & framework you can point me to in WordPress.

I know HTML, CSS & JavaScript but this will be the first ground-up site on WordPress. Normally I build all custom from the ground-up - not looking to do that here but rather looking for WYSIWYG as much as possible - simple, little-to-no tweaking as far as coding goes.

What is the best way to make edits to individual pages? In this case I'm using the Customizr theme and on the home  page it has a "features" section followed by the "main content" section, I want to swap the order and put the main content first.

Upon using "Inspect Element", I can clearly see the container divs, but I'm not sure how to go about making the change.

Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks.
My top Navigation links in my main menu don't link to the page, the sub level pages link just fine.

For Example:

About us
  - Mission Statement
  - Our Team

When I click on the "About Us"  nothing happens even though the link behaviors on mouse over behave like it is a link.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but I'm using the Customizr theme.
I keep on getting emails of the form

What does this mean? How are they getting in and what rights do they have?
I am unable to upload images in wordpress. I am working in a local environment on my Mac, using Xampp.  This may be an additional clue (my htaccess file is not writeable).

The error I get: "The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2013/09."
Hi, I need some help tweaking some css on a wp theme. I'd like to add a container and image behind content but I'm not sure how to go about it, I think I"m on the right track but it doesn't align right.

The theme I am using is here

But I'd like to add the tiled image behind the slider images like this theme

The site I am working on is here (I've turned maintenance mode off so you can get to the site more easily)

You can see that when you resize the browser window the background image and the slider container don't align. I'd just like the background tile fixed and fill the screen no matter what size window somebody has open.

Thanks for your help, let me know if you need more info.

I was looking for plugin to copy from word to wordpress.

Hello all experts.

I have this very simple WordPress website.

I have added this regular Gallery to this page:

I have added this code to call the Gallery:
[gallery captiontag="dd" ids="145,146,147,148,149,151,152,154,155,156,157,158,159,160,161,162,163,164,165,166,167,168,169,170,171,172,173,174,175,176,177,178"]

Open in new window

The captiontag="dd" is supposed to pull the caption below the individual thumbnails.  And it does.

But, adding that code no longer opens any of the images as an overlay even though I have selected "Link to Media File" for the individual images.  If I remove that bit, captiontag="dd", it works as intended.

This is the CSS that I am using the style the caption, even though this may not be relevant:
.page-id-82 #content #gallery-1 .gallery-item { position:relative; margin-bottom: 40px; }
.page-id-82 #content #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { position:absolute; bottom:4px; text-align:center; width:100%; }
.page-id-82 #content #gallery-1 .gallery-icon { padding:5px 5px 40px 5px; }

Open in new window

Can someone please tell me what is going on...??  This is supposed to be native WordPress code that I am using.

Thanx in advance,

I've signed up with and I imported 4 opml files.
I've been trying to figure out how to delete my imports and I don't see any delete options.
I have thousands of feeds, and I need to delete my opml files as I made some changes to my files and will need to reimport them.

Any ideas how to delete the opml files in ?
