Instant messaging (IM) is a type of online chat that offers real-time text transmission over the Internet. A LAN messenger operates in a similar way over a local area network. More advanced instant messaging can add file transfer, clickable hyperlinks, Voice over IP, or video chat. Non-IM types of chat include multicast transmission, usually referred to as "chat rooms". Depending on the IM protocol, the technical architecture can be peer-to-peer (direct point-to-point transmission) or client-server (a central server retransmits messages from the sender to the communication device).

I need to get the count of error messages from a SQL database table over the past 24 hours.

Example:

Time:              Count:
1:00 AM         5 errors
2:00 AM         1 error
3:00 AM         10 errors
4:00 AM         5 errors
.......

12:00 PM       0 errors
.........

10:00 PM       6 errors

and so on. Below is my attempt but it is not correct.
select COUNT (messageType) as [Count], Datestamp
from Table1
where Datestamp between dateadd(hour, -24, CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)
AND CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
GROUP BY CAST(Datestamp as DATE) ,CASE
      WHEN DATEPART(HOUR, Datestamp) > 12 THEN DATEPART(hour, Datestamp) - 12
      ELSE DATEPART(Hour, Datestamp)
END , dateadd(hour, datediff(hour, 0, Datestamp), 0), Datestamp
ORDER BY dateadd(hour, datediff(hour, 0, Datestamp), 0) ASC;

I'm looking for ways to tell our users if the server will be going down or for emergencies. E-mail is to slow because most people do not check their email for hours at a time. First would it be safe to open up an inbound port for 445, only allowing IT department IP addresses (possible spoofing issues)? What are the other options that you have used to tell your co-workers when a server is going down besides e-mail?
Thanks

I was having twitter forward tweets to my cell phone as SMS messages. I signed up for loads of news sites and got a message about 200 messages / day limit...

Then I got the twitter app for IOS and was getting the messages on my lock screen from both twitter and messages. I turned off forward messages to phone.

Then in last couple days, I stopped getting any tweets.

was there an update in ios twitter account?    I went into the twitter app and see a bell with check icon.  (was it there before) checked that and a window labeled account notificiations was set to none. I changed that to all tweets now I get the tweets twice.

how do I only get tweets from only the ios app and showing up on the lock screen on the iphone?

Regarding "recent stickers" used by me on my mobile.

They can disappear from my mobile? Even though I don't used them again?

Thanks so much

I recall a few years ago that I used a program similar to Skype which allowed me to have private conversations via this tool.

There was some sort of key that I generated on my PC and emailed to the other person, which that person added to this tool. We then have "private" conversations.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? That does tool, or another, offer this today?

Thanks.

I have setup a Windows 2016 SMTP server to use for mail relay. When I send a test messages using the new SMTP server, the message is delivered. When I look at the logs, it shows me connecting from my workstation, then somehow it is sending the SMTP traffic over to my Exchange server. I don't want this to go through my Exchange server. I want the new SMTP server to do the sending.

Any ideas on how/why it is going to my Exchange server?

Hello

I learning up about Skype Enterprise Voice and it's potential for mobile.

Right now, we use Skype for Skype-to-skype calls. I'm wondering if this can be integrated with the telephone line in the office.  And then, if we can deploy a Skype mobile client to user's personal devices that has their office number....this way, we can :

1. A user never has to give out their personal mobile number, only their office number which will now ring on their personal phone

2. A user can make voice calls, either internally or externally, using this Skype client and reduce cost to them since it presumably uses the corporate network where possible, e.g. for international calls.

Some questions.

1. Is Enterprise Voice the term for the integration of Skype with the phone network

2. When we refer to the Phone Network, do we mean PSTN?

3. Is there a way for an enterprise Skype mobile client to have an external dialler feature so the user can phone anyone, either internal or external?

4. Are there potential cost benefits of this Skype client connecting to the corporate network

5. Is it possible for Skype mobile to have the user's office desk number so that it provides the fixed mobile convergence i talked about? Or does it need a separate number?

I setup a new 2016 Exchange mail server.  There are two domains, both receive mail OK.  Some users get mail from both domains, like

fred@domain1.com and fred@domain2.com - how can I configure Fred's Outlook to get messages from both domains?

How can Fred get email from both domains using OWA?

How can I export public folders from 2003 and import to 2016?

I have a client running Exchange 2010 SP2 and have determined that it is sending duplicate emails on random occasion.  I noticed this morning that I received a ticket from the particular client that was the same as the one he had sent the day before.  While at their site I did some digging around.  I first performed a message track using the built in tools in Exchange, which showed the duplicate email being sent to me at 8:00AM.  I then checked his sent items in his OWA, no site of the duplicate email.  I checked his sent items on his Iphone and his computer, both showed no such email being sent.  I also was told that a user sent mail to a distribution list and the recipients received duplicates of her messages.  I did some digging in the senders mailbox and did find the message sent once.  I then checked a recipient and saw the message delivered 4 times. Any ideas what can cause this?  Here is a little more info in case you need it.  Server is virtual running on Server 2008R2, Kaspersky Security 8.0 for Microsoft Exchange is currently installed, though expired. If you need any further information let me know, thank you for your help,
Jon

I'm seeking a way to allow Google Voice text messages to be sent and received in IM clients such as Trillian, Jabber, Pidgin, etc.   A while back there were two solutions for this - GVXMPP and one using Adobe Air.  Both are defunct.  Can anyone help?

Hi guys, I'm trying to renew certificates from my CA (Windows Server 2008R2 Enterprise) and I'm getting error messages when trying to do so.

When I try to renew the cert, I get this error below. I'm currently logged in as the domain admin which is also part of the enterprise admin security group. Requesting and renewing the certificate gets the same error.

I've googled the issue and it seems to be a permissions issue although I can't be sure. Any ideas what I should be doing?

Thanks,
Javier

How can I figure out how many CALs are installed on my Lync Server 2010? I can run the get-csuser command and get a count of active licenses, but I can't figure out how many are installed, so I know how many open seats I have.

Every time I search for anything regarding licensing, its around how it works, not how to tell how many copies I have installed, or how to install new licenses.

i have a working Exchange system and the owners want to use it for file sharing as well in a very simple way. they just want to be able to send really really large emails to each other and to a variety of their clients that actually has no issue receiving hundreds of megabytes in one email.

based on that I increased all the settings to the maximum 2407MB i walked through every web.config file that exchange has and modified it as well.

never the less when they send emails to external clients they get the following

Your message wasn't delivered to anyone because it's too large. The limit is 35 MB. Your message is 85 MB.
Your message is larger than the size limit for messages. Please make it smaller and try sending it again.

I have Mac El Capitan and an iPhone 6. I need to copy and paste many text message from a few different people for my records.

Can I do this with iMessage?

I noticed the login for iMessage was my Apple ID. Does this have any association to my phone number? Or does iMessage just provide me a Text Message UI when my iPhone's plugged into my PC, but that uses a different account?

If so, that has no use for me.

Thanks.

We are looking at an enterprise friendly Collab tool for our organisation to move the traffic away from email. Think along the lines of Slack.

Requirements -

i. Ability to have private rooms
ii. Discussions can be archived for legal purposes
iii. Ability to share documents
iv. Must be mobile friendly
v. Further down the line, the ability to have external parties would be useful

MS's offerings are confusing me! They bought Yammer, but have also released MS Teams and Outlook groups! Which is their strategy?

VM seem to have SocialCast which looks pretty good.

Anyone have experience/ recommendations?

Hey guys,

I´ve been experiencing issue with my Skype for Business server - not a cloud version...we have 2 virtual servers for skype for business - frontend and edge. We have 2 domains in SFB.

Problem is that users from user@firstdomain.com can contact users in user@seconddomain.com and also can contact users outside company.
but users from second domain user@seconddomain.com cannot contact users outside company.

I´ve tried everything and I´m out of ideas what could be wrong...

Thank you guys for any help!

Regards

HI

Relatively new to exchange admin and I'm getting the below error to some domains. Most mail is going out without issues however there are a couple of known domains that eventually time out when trying to send. I have googled but haven't really found anything for this particular message

Error -

Remote Server at *address* returned '400 4.4.7 Message delayed'
11/04/2017 2:42:41 AM - Remote Server at *address* returned '451-4.4.0 Primary target IP address responded with: "451-"We have detected a high rate of messages from your IP, please try again 451 4.4.0 451 later "." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate hosts. The last endpoint attempted was *address*

I have had a look on the MX toolbox and in both examples if I do an SMTP test the transaction time is quite long -
SMTP Transaction Time      22.864 seconds - Not good! on Transaction Time
SMTP Transaction Time      23.160 seconds - Not good! on Transaction Time

Could this be the issue and if so Is there anything on my side that I can do to push these emails through?
