We've been using Lync server 2007 in-house for some time quite successfully but we recently transitioned our email to Office 365 and now I need to do the same for Lync.  What are the steps?

I have created a S3 bucket name and for this bucket I set it to store in Glacier.

I would like to retrieve the data stored in this bucket, where do I go to retrieve and set the retrieve time as I cannot choose a restore period through S3 interface.

For costing purpose, I want to restore a file found in the bucket from Glacier class back with a restore period of 20 hours in the S3 interface.

I am looking to provide a solution to employees at my company using a possible VDI solution. We have a large group of employees who need to connect to customer VPN solutions. Most of the customers are very security cocerned companies and do not allow split tunneling. While connected to the VPN solution, they are basically locked out of their own resources on the network, they can't reach any of our company's corporate resources, including mail. this makes working on mutliple projects simultaneously a little cumbersome. We also have cases where customer's VPN clients, may interfere with one another when installed. We decided to use VM Workstation to resolve some of these problems but it's difficult to manage with so many employees. Employees have VM workstation with a 2nd or 3rd VM installed on their laptops to use customer VPNs. We'd like to eliminate that by utilizing VDI with Horizon or a DaaS solution. My question is in regards to PCoverIP. When the employee connects to the customer network, their are basically locked out of any other networks. They cannot use RDP to the VM (this is why we don't use just eSXi). If we were to use PCoverIP, does it operate at a layer lower than RDP? Does it work at the hypervisor level and would it face the same network restrictions we face today once the employee connects to these customer VPNs? Just not familiar enough with the protocol. sorry for all the background but I figured it would help solidify what I am asking.

Hi guys,

Like most major IT integrators, we're considering starting our own private cloud, which will support external customers and will be hosted in one of the largest ISP's.

I would highly appreciate if you can shed some light on the following:
The main considerations before starting a cloud such as:
- Hypervisor
- Security
- Licensing, mainly for customers (VMware, Microsoft, etc..)
- IP address scheme
- Secure Remote access
- Bandwidth
- Scalability
- Initial sizing (HW resources, including: CPU, IOPS, RAM etc..)

In other words, if someone already has a white paper / best practice for new and small cloud providers it'll be GREAT.

Thanks a lot

I have to move SharePoint  (32 sites) to a new educational tenancy. The educational tenancy has already a student portal site collection. Is the only option for me to sit the new "faculty" portal under the student site collection or is it possible to create a brand new stand alone SharePoint instance in this tenancy ?

I have an Office 365 account for email for my users.
I want to use OneDrive for backup purposes.

I do not want to use SharePoint.

I want to make sure employees cannot take the OneDrive account with them when they leave employment with us.

Do I use OneDrive or OneDrive Business?

Hello experts,
I seem to be having trouble accessing our OWA  externally.  Internally everything is fine however no one can access the OWA from outside our network.

I feel it necessary to inform everyone that our website hosting name servers changed.  So what I did was login our domain name hosting and change the dns pointing to the new name server where our website moved to.  As soon as I did that and everything resolved no one could access  email from outside our network.

Any thoughts???

Hello
I have enabled WebDav on our Synology DS212+. I have ensured individual users also have the application enabled. I have tried connecting using NetDrive and BitKinex but I can't establish a connection. I have set WebDAV to use port 5005 on the Synology and I wonder if I have missed something on setting a path through our Cisco ASA5505 router. I made a new service called WebDav in the router and enabled that to connect to the internal i.p. address of the NAS. Please see attached file. Does anyone have any suggestions?
TIA
Michael

If I Share photos with Microsoft OneDrive how can the recipient (without downloading the files) choose a selected few and re-share them?

I am finding that downloading them is too inefficient and slowing down the process.

I am not using the Pro version.

anyone with experience pls advise me how to setup a cloud environment where I can backup all our office users' files to the cloud. If the user were out of office, they still manage to retrieve their file to do editing at any where.
The file will auto sync back to the office when they on the pc at the office. Sync/backup should be in encrypted format so that administrator can't read the contents.

Anybody have a strong opinion on the best route to take a 938 MB DB from RDS to Azure?

My friend and I are looking at different web hosting services and we are VERY confused. This area seems so cluttered with miss-information that we can't tell which one to go for. Some people say go for "GoDaddy" others say it is horrible. Some say go for "DreamHost" others say it is horrible.

We just need a reliable hosting service that allows us to:
1) Store/Edit and share our files so we can access/edit them anywhere.
2) Have custom emails. (e.g., John.Smith@BusinessName.com)
3) Create a website when/if we are ready.
4) Constant uptime for when/if we ever have a website.

Can someone recommend what their top choice would be for fulfilling the needs above? Pricing is important, but if it means we pay $100/month for the best service on the market has too offer, we will consider that.

I have a new customer that has a SQL 2012 DB running out of space on RDS.  I normally use Azure so this RDS is new to me.  I have already figured out that SQL on RDS sucks and this re-sizing is going to hurt.  Surprisingly, the documentation for RDS / SQL sucks so I need some help and some detailed instructions.  Anybody got experience with this?

We have a domain controller that hosts most of our data. We currently have Microsoft 365 that provides our Hosted Exchange and they have 1TB of cloud space available for our use. We'd like to have Active Directory manage all of our users access and see that that feature is available in our Office 365 account.

Could anybody please share their experiences / concerns with this approach? Would we be better moving our domain controller over to Microsoft Azure and installing a VPN client such as LogMeIn Hamachi? There are alot of concerns that come to mind when considering moving our data to the cloud and management is hot to do so. I don't feel comfortable moving data to Google, unless anybody out there can convince me that security is good.

We'd like to be able to maintain the same level of security as we have with the server in the office with Active Directory and access permissions, etc... Any experience sharing and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am developing on the Salesforce platform using apex and visualforce, which is a derivative of the Java language.  I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm encountering.  I have a custom ListView button and I'm trying to update a multi-select list field.  I'm including screenshot to show the UI flow (see below).

Here is my VF page:

<apex:page standardController="Lead" extensions="LeadListViewMassUpdateControllerExt" recordSetVar="Leads">
<apex:form id="theForm">
<apex:pageBlock title="Lead Source Mass-Update" mode="edit" id="theBlock">
    <apex:pageMessages />
    <apex:pageBlockSection id="mus1">
        <apex:inputField value="{!lead.Solution_Interest_s__c}" id="source">
            <apex:actionSupport event="onchange" rerender="selectedlist" />
        </apex:inputField>
    </apex:pageBlockSection>
    <apex:pageBlockButtons location="bottom" id="mubut">
        <apex:commandButton value="Save" action="{!save}" id="btnSave"/>
        <apex:commandButton value="Cancel" action="{!cancel}" id="btnCancel"/>
    </apex:pageBlockButtons>
</apex:pageBlock>
<apex:pageBlock title="Selected Leads" id="selectedlist">
    <apex:pageBlockTable value="{!selected}" var="l" id="theTable">
        <apex:column value="{!l.name}" id="leadname"/>
        <apex:column value="{!l.Solution_Interest_s__c}" id="solutionInterest" />
    </apex:pageBlockTable>
</apex:pageBlock>
</apex:form>
</apex:page>

Here is my controller:

public class LeadListViewMassUpdateControllerExt {

ApexPages.StandardSetController setCtrl;

public LeadListViewMassUpdateControllerExt(ApexPages.StandardSetController controller) {
setCtrl = controller;
if(setCtrl.getSelected().size() == 0)
ApexPages.addMessage(new ApexPages.Message(ApexPages.severity.warning, 'No records were selected. Please go back and select records to be updated'));
}

This code will replace the existing values in the multi-select list field. Instead, I'd like to add new values to multi-select list that already exist? I want to add and NOT replace values.

The issue is I need to the user to add a solution interest value to the records. For example, a lead record has the values: "A" and "B" for solution interest. I want the user to be able to select "C" from the multiple select list and save the record. Then the lead record will have the values "A", "B" and "C" for solution interest. Currently, the code replaces "A" and "B" with "C".

Thanks for any help.

I have a very fundamental question, Can I build a cloud infrastructure with Open Source Technologies. Does the concept of Open Source Cloud exists...??? If so how can a cloud of that kind be built.

Hi,

Are there any alternatives to the now discontinued Google Talk client?
I don't like the in built client in Gmail and the Google Talk native client doesn't support group chat.

Are there any options for Google Apps users that have not enabled Hangouts and have not set up the XMPP DNS records?

Thanks.

I have a production web server with many sites on it, like www.foo.com. I have a development server with IIS6. For testing  foo.com I have set up a site and assigned it a distinct IP address. Seems like I should be able to browse to the test site at http://216.27.xxx.xxx. But instead I get "This page cannot be displayed".

Google Chrome connects to it fine.

But if I connect to the test server with my VPN I can now browse to the web site by IP address with IE11.

I have inherited a couple small business clients.  They all have small single domain controller servers running windows 2000 server still. They have moved most things to the cloud to keep from having to buy new hardware/software/networks as they are small and cannot justify the costs and support.  They have asked me if there is a way to replace their old domain controllers with the cloud as well or some form of appliance.
Has anyone come up with such a solution?  I have not seen a true cloud based DC/AD solution that did not require an onsite DC. I have also not seen an appliance that could do this yet. I know of several appliances that will allow you to setup local users on it or connect to an existing DC/AD but not any that provided basic DC/AD services for user auth/control, etc.  Anyone seen anything?  Thanks.

Our company is separating form it's parent company and (as an interim measure) we are moving to an Azure SharePoint environment. It will be the same environment as our old one (SP2007 on Win2008) but we need to get licensing as our agreement is staying with parent company.  Can we get temporary licensing for 6 months or similar or how best do we do this. Is this simply a case of chatting with Microsoft or has anyone any experiences?

CELLULAR / BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY ISSUES

I have a river house in the panhandle of FL. It’s only accessible by boat. It’s along the edge of a river with thick / dense trees and wetlands. The trees are very large with thick vegetation and leaves as well as being very tall…

Cellphone service down there is very spotty at best. Sometimes you can get a text message to go through. Better service in the winter months when there is less foliage. I have spent a lot of time and money purchasing BDA’s, both 800/1900 Mhz combo’s as well as single 65db 800Mhz / 1900 Mhz amplifiers.

I have placed them at the highest point of the property with antenna masts that still don’t come close to reaching over the tops of the trees. I have used yagi and omni directional antennas. I have worked with both Wilson and Cellphone Mate engineers to verify the equipment was installed correctly and to maximize the systems effectiveness.

I have used antenna search websites and Google maps to verify and locate my nearest cellphone site, approximately 10 miles by the way the crow flies, to make sure I was pointing the yagis in the correct direction.

I have had no luck trying to work with Verizon engineers…I have tried to open tickets with them to discuss possibilities with absolutely no luck. No calls. No emails.

The house is in a remote location. There are other houses along the river. No phone lines have been ran nor will they be. I tried to work with the local phone company and pay at my …
