Cloud computing, also known as on-demand computing, is a kind of Internet-based computing where shared resources and information are provided to computers and other devices. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. Cloud computing and storage solutions provide users and enterprises with various capabilities to store and process their data in third-party data centers, relying on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale.

Hi All

I have been tasked with putting to gether a document to give the company ideas for the future of our infrastructure.  Currently we have CoLo in datacentres and there is a feeling that Cloud coud be more cost effective.  So has anyone out there used Cloud for a year or more and have costs for operating a SQL Server, a domain member server and a SIP PBX type of server?

Many thanks

Eric

I am new to Cloud Server Hosting and would like your option on the best and most cost effective Cloud Server Hosting site. I will be running a Debian 10 server with MySql. The total size will around 4 GB. I will have around 5 or so people accessing the server. In addition, has anyone used Docker on a Cloud Server before (is it even possible)?

a leading 1-ERP cloud provider (one of those 3 like SAP, Oracle, MS)
has replied to us that they can't share the hardenings that they have
in place for their OS;  neither would they sign on the hardening
checklist as well as share the penetration test report.

What's typically the way from a customer's Cyber Governance that
we can do?  Ask for SOC2 report or which report which would have
certified that they have performed the required (CIS) hardening &
penetration testings?

Or we can still demand to sight the hardening settings & pentest
reports?  We are using their SaaS

How can I upload a system that was developed with ASP.net/SQL Server to Microsoft cloud?
They are decommissioning all physical servers and want to move this system Aldo, so the users can use it in the MS cloud.

I have a service client moving to cloud based dispatch.
What would you recommend for field techs - Chromebook, iPad, or WIndows tablet.
What service(s) to connect?  LTE for coverage or Wireless with access point?

Im relatively new to one drive, using it a few months,

Getting errors on files sometimes in this folder that its read only when off line - Yet Ive chosen to have it available offline.
All the files in that folder are ...

"One drive s up to date" according to one drive icon.

Ive also reset.
%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\onedrive.exe /reset

Any ideas?

We have about 200 users in a Microsoft environment.  We would like to consider using Google G Suite as an alternative to Microsoft.

I would appreciate links to great documentation on the pros and cons, and what it would look like to begin that migration.

I found this link but I'm sure that there is a ton of great information available - which articles and white papers etc. have you found to be "the best"?

I am looking to set up and EC2 server to process files, potentially user uploaded , but they could be saved in S3 and processed later as a nightly job or something similar. I don't know if having a EC2 server is better or this can be simply done by a lambda.

my org has lot of ec2 servers and s3 buckets, if I wanted to add some code , what else do I need to set up apart from giving read/write permission to the s3 objects/buckets. do I need to set up a different user, or any other rules . I don't think vpc is needed.

and what about the security, if I allow users to upload files and eventually save it to the s3 bucket?

We are subscribing to Teammate SaaS (that's hosted in AWS)
& our data to be hosted is deemed sensitive.

Q1:
by default is data at rest encrypted by default (whether it's
default offering by AWS or by Teammate)?

Q2:
Is backup offered by default (by Teammate or by AWS?) or
this is an optional item that we must subscribe/purchase
separately?

Q3:
For data sovereignty purpose, can we specify to Teammate
(or is it AWS) that the data must be hosted in AWS DC in
the local country only & not 'synced' to overseas?

Our auditors subscribe to Teammate SaaS Prod in the cloud.
Teammate also offers a QA/UAT SaaS in the cloud.

Q1:
Under what circumstances would sites out there subscribe
to QA/UAT  Teammate SaaS?

Q2:
What's Teammate QA/UAT used for?   Is there any development
work for Teammate that needs to be done in UAT 1st before
being ported over to Prod Teammate?

Q3:
I've heard of our parent company's  audit dept uses on-prem
Teammate & have both QA/UAT plus Prod environments?
not convenient to ask the auditors, but curious what it's for

Getting used to One Drive and just wondering ...

Is One Drive excellent and practically bullet proof at this stage?  Any pit falls? No file corruptions caused by it etc ?

Aside form deleting a file and expecting it to be just deleted from Cloud and it syncs the delete (N00b mistake)
are there any failings of the application?

Im considering putting all my docs and my pics in there ... Should I?

Id much prefer to stick with Microsoft One Drive that try other cloud services if possible

Hi,

I know spicework HelpDesk is free (local version not-cloud), but there is a paid option.  What do I get if I pay for Spiceworks? (more features, like reportings, etc.?)

Hello Experts! Looking for a bit of guidance here.  I've been in IT for several years and realize Cloud and Big Data are prominent names in our field today.  I'd like to become Cloud certified but would like to pick a cloud platform to learn that is going to give me the most bang for my buck so to speak.  So actually three questions here:

1.)  What cloud platform would you choose to get certified in moving forward into 2020 and beyond? (AWS,   Azure or Google)

2.)  which cloud platform would be more lucrative pay wise?  (AWS, Azure or Google)

3.)  Which one would be least expensive in your experience in obtaining, let's say to an Architect level?

Your input is greatly appreciated!   Thank you.

Are there any standard sets of testing that would be mandatory if you have a web application that know through a re-design will soon attract far more traffic than it does at present. We use a SaaS application for one of our customer facing apps, and they are trying to push more customer interaction through the site/app than it offers at present, so therefore it will be handling more traffic and data. There are already some concerns around performance etc as is, so we want to ensure our risk teams are verifying the data owners have got some assurances from the suppliers that this will be fit for purpose once the new features of the app are made available to customers/service users. I will trying to find some form of skeleton plan for the basics tests/risks that we need to delve further on. Obviously all levels of the technology stack behind the application require assessment/consideration. Although I appreciate each application is different, there must be some standard broad level test categories that would consistent for all. I'm not sure what assurances we could get directly from the SaaS providers or how to construct the queries so any assistance of probing questions would be most useful.

I had this question after viewing Copy/Move AWS meta infrastructure.
Looking into the same issue and note that this question is close to two years old.
Have there been some tools appearing that will translate an existing cloud infrastructure into json code?

Dear Experts,

We have a hyper v cluster running on 2016. One of our customer is asking for 2 sockets 4 core each instead of 1 socket and 8 cores for his virtual machine.

I tried go through the documentation and google search yield inconclusive result. As I see it may not be possible with Hyper V

Can you any suggest if this is possible by any means?

Looking forward to hear from you

Regards

I am trying to find out what are my best bets to setup a cloud facing server (AWS, Azure on any other "reasoanble" provider)  that would have a number of public IP and a VPN to my local network.
At the moment we have an internet connexion with /29 static IP space but this is getting a bit "tight" and is also fairly costly from our ISP.
I think we should rather use a cloud server and tunnel the traffic to our local connection (possibly keeping a few local IP as contingency).
Our requirements:
  • 8 static Ip with some "easy" way to grow if / when needed
  • IPs in Europe
  • 100 Mb symmetric connectivity (we don't need more) with say 1Tb traffic/month (probably significantly less than that)
  • possibility to set up an IDP/IDS on / around the box (as an extra option)
  • obviously good price and reliability
What would be my best bet in setting up this (both in terms of the underlying OS and provider)? I was thinking of running a pfSense VM in AWS but I happy to read your suggestions

Unfortunately Dropbox quits syncing when you log off. Has anyone come up with a solution that keeps Dropbox running and syncing even when logged off the computer? I am trying to use it for server backup storage and not syncing when logged off will be a show stopper.

We noticed that we can't open a remote console for a deployed VM from VRA web interface, we get the below error:

"Cannot connect to remote console. Verify that the machine is powered on and connected to the network."

The VMs are powered On, on Vcenter side the VMs look healthy.

This is what i have tried so far:

Ping from Host to vcenter where the VRA VM resides:
	[root@host:~] ping vcenter
PING vcenter (10.93.104.30): 56 data bytes

	64 bytes from 10.93.104.30: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.282 ms
64 bytes from 10.93.104.30: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.343 ms

What are the security & compliance requirements we can safely
demand/expect from Oracle ERP (Enterprise Resrc Planng) Cloud.

Likely Finance, HR, Procurement modules will be used in this
cloud ERP.

a) Data sovereignty: DC must be local?

b) BCP/DR drills done yearly with DR centre also hosted locally?

c) this is an SaaS?  So we can apply all  the SaaS compliance
requirements on them including returning data to us &
secure erasure of data when exiting?

d) ... any other ... ?

Hi Experts,

We have a client whose machines are in workgroup mode so no AD or any on premise infrastructure. We are looking to add them to Azure AD since they already have E3 licenses and are using Office 365. My questions are:

1. Will their logins change on their machines? i.e. currently they sign in as somerandomname, will their computer login change to username@domain.com for their computer? I am just thinking if we will need to do a profile migration to preserve all their settings?

2. What Office 365 licenses are needed to achieve this? They have E3 and are on Windows 10 Pro. Do they need Windows 10 Enterprise to join Azure AD?

Thanks in advance
