Cloud services are services made available to users via the Internet from a provider's servers. Cloud services are designed to provide easy, scalable access to applications, resources and services, and are fully managed by a cloud services provider. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources. Frequently offered cloud services are infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), desktops-as-a-service (DaaS), software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS). Examples of cloud services include online data storage and backup solutions, Web-based e-mail services, hosted office suites and document collaboration services, database processing, managed technical support services and more.

When we go to cloud and accounts, add account -  there is no microsoft exchange active synch listed as an option.
We have installed outlook and connected to get mail that way, but we need to use the built in mail app.
Unfortunately, we have installed a lot of other apps, config etc so dont want to do a factory reset.
The OS etc are all up to date.

In (MS Word) VBA projects, I typically organize files into a "content library." This consists of all types of files my toolbar might need to access:  .docx, .xlsx, graphic files, etc.  I give the user a tool to specify the location of the content library, which often lives on a shared network drive, and it stores that in a public string variable and saves it to the registry for future sessions.  For example,
contentlibrarylocation = "G:\Tools\MainContentLibrary"

Open in new window

From that point on, every time the toolbar needs to open a file or insert a file from the library, my code simply uses string variables, concatenating the desired subfolder and file name to the end of the content library.  For example
file2open = contentlibrarylocation & "\Boilerplate\LegalTerms.docx"
Application.Documents.Open (file2open)
'OR
logo2insert = contentlibrarylocation & "\Images\Logos\" & Me.ListBox1.Value
ActiveDocument.InlineShapes.AddPicture(filename:=logo2insert, Range:=Selection.Range)

Open in new window

My question is this:  Rather that a local or network drive, if I put my content library on a cloud server such as Box.com, or Google Drive, can I interact with it this same way?  I uploaded my folder and tried setting my content library pointer to the shared folder link from Box.com, for example
contentlibrarylocation = "https://app.box.com/s/psjov2rpjwbn52v25tawqn8bb1cyu7ss"

Open in new window

Then I tried concatenating subfolders and filenames to that, but VBA cannot find the indicated files.  I understand there is a difference between pulling files from a network folder vs. files on the web, but I need some help knowing how to address the later, and if this can even be done this way.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I need some insights on how to start a call Center for a medical office. The office averages about 350 inbound phone calls per day and 200 outbound calls daily. Any suggestions as of best applications, service providers to use for this project would be greatly appreciated.

I've been doing a lot of travelling and road tripping with the family and I always find it hard and time consuming to gather all photos from cameras and iphones into one comfortable experience in front of the television. It's usually a mess to import photos from camera, and my wife, me and daughter's iphone...they mess up the dates and mix up photos and videos. Then later on viewing on my television through AppleTV(gen4) is slow and not a good experience.

I'm using Mac and iphone and has a Sony camera and a Sony television and AppleTV (gen4).

I was thinking of a cloud service or piece of software where I can basically dump all photos and videos from all my devices and it will make sure to present it all nicely on my TV so we can all sit comfortable and enjoy our adventures :-)

Please suggest me a ticketing tool.

I Want to create a free, online, ticketing tool forum for my apartment where 90 families can log requests.

Online (or mobile) users can check the status of a problem. Suggest and track a solution and close it.

Periodically a report can be pulled. It should be simple and easy to use.

I have a small client who is requesting a NAS unit however with a good cloud service that allows seamless synchronization so he can access his files from the cloud in case the NAS becomes inaccessible, anyone here with good success to tell?

Hi Guys,

My client needs a program to collect data and generate some reports, I will use MySQL and VB.Net 2013.

The program will be used from different locations, so I was thinking to setup the data base on the server and install the program on the server too, then they can connect to the server thru Remote Desktop ( I now, this depends of the number of licenses on the server)

On the other hand, install the program on each computer and setup the data base on a cloud, but I've never used this option before and I'm not sure if is a good idea.

That's what I need you advice guys, is there a better option?

Thank you in advance!!!

Hello all,

My 1 TB Dropbox PLUS subscription is coming up for renewal and I am seeking a less expensive cloud storage service.

I should say that my only two issues with Dropbox are:
- Price - especially since I wish to upgrade to 2 TB of storage.
- That I must use Boxifier (3rd party add-on) to sync multiple folders from multiple locations.

I especially love Dropbox because:
- It's excellent web interface.
- Version control (I can instantly recover a file or files from any time within 30 days).

Recommendations Found

From https://www.cloudwards.net/comparison/, I found the following alternatives:

All appear to offer the features that are most important to me. Any other recommendations and/or endorsements for the above three choices?

Thanks,
Shawn

We are currently trying to implement a security (SIEM) monitoring solution for Azure IIS Cloud services.  I would like to know if there's somebody that has implemented monitoring for this service.  I want to make sure that is Cloud services and NOT web apps or IIS on a VM.  There are some fundamental differences between these three services in Azure.  Any working examples would be great.

I saw a webinar on Datta and the ALTO 3 device.

I am always investigating backup and recovery solutions for small groups of computers.   The device seemed interesting.

Is this a good and reasonably priced solution?

Thanks

Hello All,

Good morning. I would like to see if I could receive any feedback on different cloud backup applications that allows collaboration, file sharing, FTP services, and syncs between PC's such (OneDrive, DropBox, etc.) We currently are exploring with OneDrive which performs all the functions, but with separate accounts created. Our thrust is to utilize a services that allows multiple users to apply changes to files, store information, while syncing the updates to the users workstations. I appreciate any feedback from anyone who has used or currently users different services that accomplishes these task or provides more functions.

I want to build up my knowledge & skills on Cloud technology.

I've got myself an Azure account and signed up for the free trial. I've also got myself a Windows 2016 VPS. I've also just setup my first (for me) client with Office 365 Business Essentials.

Years ago when I was learning about PC networks and Servers & email, I'd get 3 servers and run up a few NT domains, setup MS Mail & Exchange and get that all talking to each other, check mail flow and so on.

So what's the Cloud lab equivalent of that sort of thing?

I'm sitting here wondering, what's something really cool I setup that I could actually use in the real world?

The Azure training & intro videos say, you can set up Databases, test apps, run up Containers and so on, but I mainly support PC, file sharing, File Serving, email type clients, any databases or apps take care of themselves.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is there a way to have Azure AD off-prem but having  sync data in-house?   Just in case Azure goes away or legal issues with MS etc.  Currently not having AD domain controllers in-house, and want to keep this way.  Don't want to introduce complexity in-house for that reason.

Hi All,

I have a client that would like a cloud solution for all their company data (word, excel docs etc) no databases or anything. They would also require folders to have relevant permissions set.

Their emails on are Office 365 but we don't want to use OneDrive due to the limitations on the file Sync Limit for each user, plus they don't want to use the web version of OneDrive to access the data.

We don't want the users to access a cloud server via remote desktop connection as the cost for office and user CALS would be a fortune.

Can anyone recommend a solution for the kind of setup, they would have around 60 plus users accessing the data from office all around the UK.

We would also want a secure connection to the cloud system, i.e. vpn for each user. We have been told about the RS models of the Synology range?

thanks again
Ryan

Dear Experts
I am using sales force automation sugarcrm and we are evaluating the CTI integration either the complete cloud telephony or hybrid, one of the service provider has this hybrid where they do not charge for inbound and outbound call per minute unlike the complete cloud telephony instead they will host their server may be PBX and that is connected to their data center but application will used is of their platform, and calls will be routed to us directly from telco both the inbound and outbound unlike the complete cloud where calls are routed from their data centre.
please suggest the best solution to go for, pros and cons please. thanks in advance.
