Hi
All of a sudden, my battle.net is saying

Your connection will be run through a proxy server because of your network setup"

This is new.
Things seem to be hinky. I cant join or create games (that are seen by others).
I cant think of anything I've changed
What might be causing this?
Thanks

Hi
Installing Pycharm w/ a Youtube vid suggests I'll need 3.6.2 interpreter. I couldn't find an automatic update in the sections.

Is that necessary? It seems to be so. in the vid   ( here )

In preferences, there is no Pygame in the easy install type list - should it be there?
Thanks

Hi
Every one of the last 3 or 4 credit cards I've had, I've had to close due to fraud and purchases I didn't make.
I think the first few test to see if I notice, and then they don't hold back.
I was lucky that today, I decided to see if anything suspect was occurring.
I got billed by the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. !

How are they breaking me?

I strongly suspect Uber of being massively hackable, I use them almost every day.
Thanks

I was asked to set up an aris game server. I am not sure where to start.  Here is the git hub page I was pointed to. I assume this is supposed to run on linux?  I know how to set up a linux server, create users, install apps, and a few other things.  Can anyone give me some direction with how I can get this up and running?

Here is the git hub page I was pointed to.

Hi all, have a Windows 10 Lenovo with an issue with Minecraft for Windows 10. Up until a couple of days ago everything worked just fine.. But now, when launching Minecraft, I see the 'Mojang' white screen, then it disappears. I have the version installed from the Windows store.
So, I find the app in "apps and features" and removed, rebooted, re-installed, but still the problem persists. I then took the drastic action to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch. I figure, time for a clean re-build anyhow. I did just that, re-installed Windows, patched, put McAfee and Office 2016 back on - perfect clean build. Installed Minecraft and OMG I get the same problem!!
I can't be the only person with this issue, must be a MS patch or something? Anyone, any help much appreciated as I need to get my 8 year old off my back ;)
ps. I did kill AV and Firewall but problem persists! Everything else is working normal.

Hi

I'm lined up to record my music at a quality studio.
A few bars in my songs are pretty tough to play, and a software instrument would nail it, I'm sure.
The producer said her assistant would load her software instrument kit in to Pro Tools.
As luck would have it, hers is a little old. My Software instrument everything (Native Instruments Komplete) doesn't work in Pro Tools, but does in Logic.
I cant imagine the assistant's suite is a let down?
Anyway
Do you think software instruments are glaringly soulless and lame?
I could make the protools incompatibility irrelevant, if I record the S.Instrument backing in Logic to the correct beats
Anyway, she has worked with tier 1 artists, and I don't want to have a >0 coefficient of clownage.

What’s the first thing you install—or uninstall—on a new system?
The first thing I install on a new PC system (other than OS & drivers) is usually a tie between the Chrome browser and Blizzard's Battle.net client, closely followed by Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. On my Mac, I skip straight to Lightroom and Photoshop, since I'm happy with Safari and don't try to game much on that system (that's what the PC is for ;-)

As for uninstalling, usually nothing... My last PC was a custom build so there wasn't any junk on it and Macs are great about not having anything I don't want.

Yeah, definitely got to take care of all the OS and driver patches first! What do you do after all that?

I don't install PCs for a living, and only do that for select family members: myself, children, wife and mother in law.
Everybody gets Chrome, Office and Adobe Acrobat reader.
Then for each their tools of trade. This is the list of first installations as happened during the past year.

For me:
* Virtual box, Git, JDK, Python, Jetbrains IDE, curl, whois, dig, jq, notepad++, skype, mumble and Eve Online

For my mother in law:
* OE Classic

For my wife:
* Photoshop, Invision, Premiere

For my son:
* Minecraft, Netflix

For my daughter:
* Matlab, Netflix

Hi

My blog has a spot in it's theme to paste a GIF in it like a title GIF. I changed my blog's icon to the image I want, but it didn't change in the spot I want. How do I change the other title GIF? I don't think it is the logo.

Thanks

Hi

I have created a media upload website.
Anyway, I'm concerned that my dear users might upload songs or videos, only to have them stolen by renegades and losers
I applied for trademark of my website name today on legalzoom.
I once heard that having a provable version of art, eg, a recording/book in a mailing, is as good as copyright.
Can I have a text field for my artist 'Megatrons' to say for their song 'home invasion'
" Copyright @2017 Megatrons"
and that have meaning, legally?
Thanks
What should I consider?

Currently, I'm trying to learn a bit about Unreal Engine 4; I've always loved video games and have wanted to learn how to make them. The videos that Epic Games have made for their engine are pretty good (https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Videos/index.html), but does anyone know of other resources for learning about UE4?

Subject of the week | What sparked your initial interest in the tech industry?
My interest in tech is easily traced back to computer games. My dad brought home an Atari 800 one day and it was the coolest thing ever! Even though I was no doubt terrible at the games I played on it, the whole thing was so much fun that it instilled a life-long love of computers. I remember things like some sort of Frogger knock-off called Preppie (was about a golfer trying to cross the street to retrieve his golf ball), the racing game Pole Position, trying to race through Oregon Trail during my elementary school's 50 minute computer class (we didn't have any drives to save our game to, so the time crunch became the real challenge!) and then adventure games like King's Quest and Space Quest.

Later on, when I got a TI-82 graphing calculator, my initial love of computer games carried through and I'd make simple little programs for things like dice rolling, a text adventure game with a rudimentary combat system, and yes, even useful things for class like a quadratic equation solver.

But it was really those early video game experiences that made me want to work with computers.

Genealogy.  I needed something to record the family history, data etc so I needed a computer.

Was at university so did the computing course and all they had were Macintosh 512K and Macintosh Pluses.  At the same time a friend worked in the computer business and sold me a clone XT 10 MHz 640K RAM 20 Mb hard drive that was um accidentally loaded with all sorts of software.  Turned on this XT and this C:\ > stared back at me.  And I stared back at that.

Next day at university bought a big thick book on DOS.  During lectures and note taking I read that book.  Went home and started typing in commands.  And found Leisure Suit Larry (I knew it was there).  18 hours later ...

Hi
In my music, opinion blog, that supports user uploads, with Adsense income,
can I say that my users may only enter one of my contests if they are "considerably active and respected members of the blog?"
Does Google let publishers go who require bloggers to participate?

Hi
To test my media website, I'd like to use music video mp4's and mp3's. ( as many as possible)
Maybe film students keep them somewhere, to compare? They make tons. K-12 Schoolers?

I can't use No Doubt, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Federline  and Beastie Boys, New Kids, apparently.

Google only finds converters and streams. Aren't they more trouble than it's worth?

What would you say?

Thanks

Hi

To test my astonishing new web site, I need some links to a few music videos mpg's or mp4's, both file types will help. Any will do, even Kevin Federline. They are hard to find.
I'd prefer direct links, not needing to sign up for anything.

Also, the freelancer helping me has only catered for mp3 and mp4 uploads.

How can I tell him, this is not enough, do wav and AVI also along w mp3? Is that correct - do amateurs use mp4 and AVI? I used wav and mpg, I assume it is most needed?

Thanks

Paperspace coupled with Parsec gets me a really good cloud gaming experience for times when I'm away from home.  You can also skip Paperspace and just set up your gaming rig as a Parsec host (I don't because my current rig/connection isn't the best for streaming.  Also, I don't feel 100% comfortable with a potential backdoor into my system). AWS/Azure also work, but Paperspace is cheaper and a bit easier out of the box.

A friend has a Dell Inspiron 11 3162 that was acting up & once I got past the dog-chewed power cable, I found there's basically no disk space left on it! It appears that the HD is soldered to the mobo, so no upgrade options there. Looking at it with Treesize, the biggest space hogs are the WinSxS directory (4.2GB) & Origin Games (8.3GB). It has a couple of USB ports & a MicroSD & I planned on getting a 32 or 64 GB card or USB drive & set game preferences to use that for storage or would I need to re-install games to that location? Other than eating up one off the 2 available USB ports, any advantage to SD card vs USB drive?
