Conferencing Software

Web conferencing describes various types of online collaborative services including web seminars ("webinars"), webcasts, and peer-level web meetings. In general, web conferencing is made possible by Internet technologies, particularly on TCP/IP connections. Services may allow real-time point-to-point communications as well as multicast communications from one sender to many receivers. It offers data streams of text-based messages, voice and video chat to be shared simultaneously, across geographically dispersed locations. Applications for web conferencing include meetings, training events, lectures, or presentations from a web-connected computer to other web-connected computers. Popular titles include GoToMeeting, Cisco WebEx, Microsoft Lync, TeamViewer and Skype.

How to host Webex meeting when you were invited

I would like to know for instance, a Webex organizer  has sent me an invite to attend  a Webex meeting, but the organizer was not able to show up and host the meeting and I am the subordinate and I have to host the meeting through that invite I received, since I do not have an account  to create a new webex meeting from scratch and invite people to the meeting

is it possible to host a webex meeting from an invite ?

Thank you

My recorder is not working when I’m conference in GotoMeeting, Zoom, Skype, etc.  I have checked the sound configuration and there is a recording tab and the device is enabled and says working fine.  How can I troubleshoot to assure that my microphone is working fine for my next conference?

We are looking into detecting when users initiated a screen-share or remote control using the popular Conference programs out there. We are looking to detect this so we can then build some controls and alerts around the policy we want to enforce.
Note: We do not want to prevent the users from joining any of these business related conferences. We are just interested in Screenshares/remote controls.
Some popular common Apps used/needed for typical business are
VNC
Skype
RingCentral Meeting
Zoom
Logmein
Teamviewer
Webex
Cisco Virtual Meeting

Hi

I am looking for web based system that can be used for company meetings, where everyone involved in the meeting can see
each other's faces. Some people will be in areas where the internet speed is fairly slow.

Which web based conference calling  system will be suitable for this?

I have three conference rooms and have been tasked to find away to simplify the booking of meeting and seeing the availability. Now people call one person to book a room and if they don’t call her people will just take the room and it’s a mess.

Is there an iPad app that I can install and I’ll put three iPads one at each location where people can see the schedules and availability of the rooms and even book the room if need be. Than sync that meeting to that person or persons outlook?

Thank you

It was ugly with Skype. Still haven't figured how how to add (or invite) external contacts to chat in Teams

Virtual meetings with multiple participants. 2 or three extra screens facing me so I can see the participants.  Greenscreen behind me.

On top of the monitors is my camera.

I often forget to look in the camera when I'm speaking, or replying to a question.

Need a way to jury-rig a little red light on the camera.  Something to remind me to "Look here." when talking.

Any creative ideas?  Where can I find a bright red, but small single bulb light that I could stick on top of my webcam: https://www.logitech.com/assets/64513/24/c930e-webcam.jpg

And, how could I get it to stick on there?

Thanks!

I am looking for recommendations for an HD Camera that can be connected directly to a smart TV for video conferencing. Can anybody make a recommendation?

I am looking for a way to do this without the need for a computer.

Thanks.

Is there a way to customise the format of the Skype Meeting request text that appears when setting up the meeting in Outlook.
I would like to separate the text and clean it up a bit.
e.g.
Toll Number:        +61nnnn
Conference ID:     61216546

At the moment, it includes the phone number and conference ID in a single string, as per below.
Current Skype Meeting format

Hi,

We have had Skype for a few years.

We are interested in purchasing Skype for Business and installing on a Windows 10 PC.

Before we do so, we would like to know:

- What are the differences between Skype and Skype for Business
- How much does Skype for Business cost
- Where to buy Skype for Business
- Can a person with Skype for Business call someone using Skype and vice versa
- Can the same Skype for Business account be used on any Windows PC in different locations
- Do we need an Office 365 account or can we use Skype for Business without it
- Can Skype for Business be used in a location with low bandwidth

We appreciate your support with the above.

Thanks,
Robbie

Users are being forced to upgrade to latest skype client, currently v8.25, but from what i can see the user is not able to increase the chat text size.   This is troublesome and a backwards step for particularity elderly people using 1080+ screens.

Skype (version 7) for Windows will stop working soon. Update to the new Skype (version 8) for Windows today! Don’t miss out on exceptional HD video calling, 300 MB file transfers, the ability to tag contacts with @‍mentions and more. Upgrade to the latest version of Skype to seamlessly transfer your sign in information, contacts and chat history. For more details and help, visit this page.

Does anyone have a hack/workaround for the text size?   If Microsoft have not built the setting into the initial design I can't imagine they will be adding it anytime soon.

Thanks,
--Paul

Hi,

We have a Skype account for our company.

We sign in with our company email address to access our Skype account on our Windows 10 Pro PC.

For people to get in contact with us, they usually request a Skype ID.

Our Skype ID displays as something like the following: live:" "_(numbers)

We would like to change this as it does not look professional.

How do we change the Skype Name/ID for our Skype account?

We are aware we can change the display name for the account but the Skype ID is needed for people to search for our company on Skype.

Thanks,
Robbie

What is the best time length for an online seminar?

I plan to give a live seminar that I expect will take up the morning, perhaps from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

But I want to offer this via the web also. It will be live, but wonder if people have different expectations for webinars?

I have been told it should be no longer than 2 hours. But this would force me to make a shorter version of the seminar, and I wold need to take out important information.

What are your thoughts about the length and if I really should reduce the amount of content?

Or, if I take breaks and let people stretch, is three hours of sitting about the same, regardless of where it is?

Thanks

We use Skype for Business and it's in the O365 portal.  Our Exchange server is on-prem and our AD is on-prem.  All we use the cloud for is the S4B licenses.

We are noticing that some users don't have pictures and some do.  It's random, and, they use to have pictures.  It's odd and I've been tasked with trying to find out why random users don't have pics.

For the most part, users upload their pics thru OWA and that's worked fine.

Does anyone know where I would start to troubleshoot this issue?  Do I start in the cloud?  On-prem?  Outlook?  AD?

Just looking for a good starting point from someone who has seen this before.

Thanks

Cliff

Why Diversity in Tech Matters

Kesha Williams, certified professional and software developer, explores the imbalance of diversity in the world of technology -- especially when it comes to hiring women. She showcases ways she's making a difference through the Colors of STEM program.

What optional technologies are there for secure video streaming?

I am planning to give a seminar business, but like the idea of protecting y seminar.

I have this URL:

https://www.vdocipher.com/

What other related tools are there for me to compare against this one.

And do I still need a service like GoToMeeting? Are there conflict between some services with this encryption serivce?

Thanks

Skype (Windows 10). The Video Button has disappeared from its position on right side top - alongside the telephone icon. Have tried for answers without success. What does this signify?
Has it anything to do with paying money.  It is not a problem with my computer, as I have opened the account on a second computer with same result.

Dear Experts, can you suggest the pros and cons of Skype for Business? Does it have these features in Broadcast mode?
- Share file
- Share screen
- Control screen

Compared to other opponent like ClickMeeting, Zoom, Webex; what are its advantages and disadvantages? Many thanks!

I am more looking for suggestions.  We are a portable church, meaning we setup and tear down every week, but we have use of multiple rooms in a building.  We want to be able to "stream" our service from the main auditorium to another location in the building.  I was planning on doing this via Facebook Live, but there are those above me that do not want to do this.  They prefer to keep it local, meaning we have the camera and we stream it internally.  I have access to physical cabling, so I could set this up to at least run over a network, but can anyone provide me some guidance on how I would "stream" without putting it on the internet?

In the Microsoft Call Quality reports - there is an option to view call quality
for Mobile LTE calls. How does MS Skype know that the calls are going over
Mobile LTE? Is the Skype mobile client running on a cell phone and transported
over TCP/IP over the carrier's LTE network? Or are  cell phone calls into
a Skype conference bridge but not over IP? I'm not sure what these calls are.
Their call quality percentage is by far the worst of any other classification of calls
and could contribute to the perception of Skype not being so hot.

We are using Skype for Business Online - Office 365. Thanks.

Is there any low-cost or free web conferencing tool that will allow a web-app, running on a persons computer, to generate a link so that our help desk personnel can receive the link via mail (for example) and when they click on this link they will be automatically connected to this person's computer screen and start an audio conversation with him or her. They key is here that the link should only allow screen sharing. Thus, the important thing here is that the video conferencing tool's API should be able to generate a "screen sharing only-link" and send it to the web app which then will email this link to our help desk.
