Conferencing Software

Web conferencing describes various types of online collaborative services including web seminars ("webinars"), webcasts, and peer-level web meetings. In general, web conferencing is made possible by Internet technologies, particularly on TCP/IP connections. Services may allow real-time point-to-point communications as well as multicast communications from one sender to many receivers. It offers data streams of text-based messages, voice and video chat to be shared simultaneously, across geographically dispersed locations. Applications for web conferencing include meetings, training events, lectures, or presentations from a web-connected computer to other web-connected computers. Popular titles include GoToMeeting, Cisco WebEx, Microsoft Lync, TeamViewer and Skype.

I am more looking for suggestions.  We are a portable church, meaning we setup and tear down every week, but we have use of multiple rooms in a building.  We want to be able to "stream" our service from the main auditorium to another location in the building.  I was planning on doing this via Facebook Live, but there are those above me that do not want to do this.  They prefer to keep it local, meaning we have the camera and we stream it internally.  I have access to physical cabling, so I could set this up to at least run over a network, but can anyone provide me some guidance on how I would "stream" without putting it on the internet?

In the Microsoft Call Quality reports - there is an option to view call quality
for Mobile LTE calls. How does MS Skype know that the calls are going over
Mobile LTE? Is the Skype mobile client running on a cell phone and transported
over TCP/IP over the carrier's LTE network? Or are  cell phone calls into
a Skype conference bridge but not over IP? I'm not sure what these calls are.
Their call quality percentage is by far the worst of any other classification of calls
and could contribute to the perception of Skype not being so hot.

We are using Skype for Business Online - Office 365. Thanks.

Is there any low-cost or free web conferencing tool that will allow a web-app, running on a persons computer, to generate a link so that our help desk personnel can receive the link via mail (for example) and when they click on this link they will be automatically connected to this person's computer screen and start an audio conversation with him or her. They key is here that the link should only allow screen sharing. Thus, the important thing here is that the video conferencing tool's API should be able to generate a "screen sharing only-link" and send it to the web app which then will email this link to our help desk.

What services can be restarted in Windows 7 if audio fails when joining a WebEx
conference? My system audio for mic and speakers tend to work fine for Zoom meeting
and Skype. WebEx has had problems and I have to have it call my cell phone instead of
just using the headphones on the laptop.

Hi SFB Experts

as i understand from this link that in order to install SFB enterprise you have to have three front end servers in the pool

and in order to install SFB standard edition you have to use the built in MSSQL express inside SFB media

so what if i want to install only one front end server and use external MSSQL 2014 standard edition so technically this possible and such setup called standard or enterprise

i know front end server license is the same for stranded and enterprise only CALS play roll here but i want to know my setup is doable and under which category standard or enterprise

We need a stable and reliable video conferencing solution to have a meeting between our US office and some customers in China.  Does anyone have any recent experience or knowledge about which video conferencing solution (e.g. GoToMeeting, Skype, etc.) works well for video conferences between China and the US?

Voicemail using Unified Messageing and Skype for Business - Greetings not being played/ applied correctly.

Afternoon everyone,

We use Skype for business, for VM we use Unified Messaging and whilst this technically works I have unearthed an issue with greetings.
Due to the nature of our business we need to have two different greetings for in and out of hours (simple one would have thought). We have these two greetings recorded in the system and can hear them when we go to re record.

However, when the number in question is dialed and goes to VM all we get is the generic 'Welcome to the mailbox of' message.

I've played with rules and settings through OWA and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

Happy to share settings or anything if it helps diagnose.

Thanks
AK

A client has a separate construction site in the next state in a trailer. Both locations have broadband service.  They were asking about "video conferencing" between their meeting room for 10 people with 1 or 2 people at this remote site.

This would be once in a while, maybe 2 times a month for an hour at a time. At the main office they do have a 50" TV on the wall.

I looked on line for a documenting a spectrum of options but came up empty. That at least is what I envision is available?

I could see the low end being that they could use a laptop's webcam fed to the TV on the wall. Maybe spin the laptop sitting in the center of the table around to see the person speaking. And at the construction site, they could use a laptop with camera.

And the upper end could have several cameras that can be turned and zoomed, mics around the room and better quality speakers.

Does anyone have advice on options, prices and how to help them decide what they need and want?

Thank you.

I've been struggling with VOIP call quality. One thing I notice is where calls to PSTN or Conference are made from work on the west coast or from home on the west coast - the traffic takes a 100ms trip to the east coast to get to the Skype voice control and RTP gateways. Is there any way this can be altered so you can use gateways on the west coast to reduce hops and delay to the Skype voice gateways?

I hear that waiting until the URL for a meeting arrives for first set up WebEx can be time consuming. So, is there a way to do this initialization beforehand?

Thanks.

I have a pair of C-level users who both experienced a problem at one of my sites. I'm trying to determine if it's a GoToMeeting problem (not my problem) or a phone problem (definitely my problem). You guys will give me a quick answer, I just know it. :-)

When the users join the audio portion of a GoToMeeting event from their Cisco desk phones (on my CUCM-powered phone system), right after the point where they enter their PIN number for the meeting, they are supposed to press the pound key "#" to join the audio part of the meeting. Every time each of them presses the "#" key on their desk phones, either the meeting or the phone hangs up the call. When they join using their cell phones it works fine.

This just started happening and no changes have recently been made to the phones or the CUCM settings. I'm told that it happened once before but was not reported, and that other occasion occurred several months ago but then the conditions returned to normal operation and they didn't see this again until yesterday.

Can I get some opinions on which party is responsible?

Thanks experts!

Hello,

We would like to setup some video conferencing between our remote sites which are connected via satellite, any suggested software solutions?  The following preferences would be ideal:

- Use UDP to send and receive stream so we may apply QoS
- If possible, have low bandwidth usage
- Low CPU usage if possible
- Tech Support from vendor if possible

We have attempted the following:

- TrueConf UDP multicast (TTL by default is 1, will not work over satellite link.  Reached out to their support to increase TTL)
- Open Source "Office SIP" with "Jitsi" client (kinda worked, but had high CPU usage)
- We are willing to purchase software if it works as required

Are there any other suggested solutions for video conferencing?

Thank you!
