Conferencing Software

Web conferencing describes various types of online collaborative services including web seminars ("webinars"), webcasts, and peer-level web meetings. In general, web conferencing is made possible by Internet technologies, particularly on TCP/IP connections. Services may allow real-time point-to-point communications as well as multicast communications from one sender to many receivers. It offers data streams of text-based messages, voice and video chat to be shared simultaneously, across geographically dispersed locations. Applications for web conferencing include meetings, training events, lectures, or presentations from a web-connected computer to other web-connected computers. Popular titles include GoToMeeting, Cisco WebEx, Microsoft Lync, TeamViewer and Skype.

I administer a small Lync 2013 pool, and am trying to change the Meeting Options Permissions so that users can control or limit participation.  The options when My dedicated meeting space is selected are grayed out.  I suspect that is by design, but I wanted to ping the forum to find out if I am missing a global setting or policy on the server side that controls this.  See the image for what I am referring to.Skype Meeting Options

I need to find the cheapest electronic way to have people sign in and out when they want to use our conference room.  I know that we can do a shared calendar in outlook but wanted to do something like a touchscreen board on the outside of the room that users can schedule a meeting or look at who has a meeting coming up.  Any CHEAP ways of doing this?  When I say cheap I mean a few hundred dollars.

Hi,

I need to get public certificates for on premise lync 2013 installation primarily for lync online and skype federation.
I want to double check things because I don't want to spend more than strictly necessary.

There is standard front-end server, mediation server (connected to telephony provider sip trunk), edge server and reverse proxy server (IIS AAR).
Configured is a single sip domain, which is the same as e-mail domain (domain.com) and different from AD domain (domain.local)
Installation is currently use for internal and external access from PCs and mobile devices, enterprise voice, IM, meetings, external companies federation,
On reverse proxy external interface is used the same certificate as on front-end server, which contains also some domain.local SANs.

I need to know which certificates I need to change and if on those certificates are needed domain.local SANs.
RapidSSL certificates will work for skype and lync online federation?

Thank you!

How do I delete/prevent/eliminate all the unsolicited "please add me to your contacts list" requests. I can block them or hide them but can't delete them.

Hello all,
I have a client that has an older Polycom video conferencing equipment at their main site and 6 of their satellite offices.  Each place has a large conference room that they use to do their video conferencing on.
They like the functionality of the Polycom equipment but don't want to use Polycom anymore since it is so expensive to replace parts and the amount of bandwidth needed.
What is a good replacement for Polycom that is not as expensive as Polycom and uses less bandwidth?
Thanks,
Kelly W.

In at least 8 years of using Skype I've never seen this syncing icon before Screenshot of Skype syncing It's been going all day long. I can't make or receive any calls. I'm told I'm showing as offline. And all my contacts show as offline. It won't even work on my phone, a Lumia 920 Windows Phone 8.1. Any suggestions please?

Hello EE,

What are you using for Conference Room Wireless Collaboration where users can all share their screens/present?
How long have you been using it?  Have you tried others?  Pros/Cons?  Would you recommend it?
We are implementing a solution and researching something for our conference rooms

I had to renew my SSL, which has our SharePoint, OWA & Skype (Lync) on it. goDaddy said as of Nov 1st they will no longer support internal addresses. I removed the internal addresses from the SAN's, but of course the servers do not work now as they can't be located in the certificate.

I contacted goDaddy and the only reference they had for from an Exchange Server, which also says it does not apply to Windows 2012 server which we are using.

Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Hi Guys,

We are just in the middle of testing a deployment of Cisco Jabber client v11. If I install the application manually, firstly I need to select Cisco IM & Presence under advanced options (automatic setting wont detect the correct services). Secondly, when it attempts to log me in, it asks me for about 5-6 certificates to install on my machine. If I select install and auto install in a location, by default it will save them under my user -> Enterprise Trust -> Certificates.

Once I saved all of them, I brought up regedit and browsed to path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\trust\Certificates . exported them, saved them as a .reg and rolled it out via GPO to all users before rolling out the client.

Now when I tried to push the application to a machine, it makes the user install the certs again so I see double certs in this location (my user -> Enterprise Trust -> Certificates).

So question, how can I make this work? need to make it as easy as possible for the users when rolling out.

thanks guys,

I need to record a demo in .wrf format. If I start a webex and press the record button, it records the voice as well as screen actions just fine, but it saves the recording in .arf format.

The reason I need .wrf format is because I can easily convert the recording to .mp4 (or other formats) without the need for third party converters.

Can someone please let me know how to record in .wrf format instead of .arf.

We having issues with Lync meetings, if we schedule meeting or do conference its using server to make calls and that is pretty bad quality, shows red bad on Lync that its bad quality and voice gets choppy and voipy.

If we do just voip call direct to someone, it no issues at all.

network bandwidth is low and we way underutilized, so trying to find an issue why lync meetings are bad but calls are good.

Thanks,

I have been tasked to migrate our OCS 2007 R2 server to Lync 2013. There are about 200 clients using basic functionality, IM, VM, Conferencing. I am unable to find a step-by-step guide on how to get started. There are hundred of articles but in bits and pieces. I would very much appreciate if someone can point me on how I can get started. It would be nice to get a solution which meets high availability and DR.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

What would you recommend if I need to build a website that has live videos in it? What I have read online is that Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder is the standard or the most popular. From what I can understand this Adobe Flash Media Encoder needs the Adobe Media Server Software or Flash Video Streaming Service. Building the website from scratch would take a long time to build so I need a CMS built on PHP or CMS built on ASP. What CMS would you recommend? CMS have so many extensions and plugins or ready-made programs that can save me time.

Anyone who has built a CMS website about online betting? Some of our people will take videos of an event in this case cockfighting then their videos will go to a server and that server will broadcast the video online so that audience can make their bet real time. What CMS would you recommend? Or has the capability of doing that? There are many CMS and if I do that one by one and make trial and error that won't be good it would destroy the business. May be there is someone who has tried one or two and can give advice on which CMS and with it's specific ready-made programs (extensions or plugins) to use. There must be an admin that can create the title of the event what kind of I don't know what they call it the chicken or what kind of chicken will be fighting and who will it fight, another chicken... something like that.

What CMS if I'm going to use Adobe Flash Media Encoder and Adobe Media Server to use, I mean CMS built on …

Hello Experts,

Currently I have published my skype for business 2015 with internal domain FQDN and my trial certificate has expired.  Now as per the new norms, the public cert authorities don't provide certificates with internal names anymore.
So, Im trying to redefine my topology with external FQDN but i get so many errors.

Im using Skype for business 2015, standard edition.  I tried to build a new topology, with pool FQDN to be external domain FQDN, the sql express automatically chose the instance as server@external FQDN\rtc.  and when I try to publish the topology, I get the following error.
"sql server store is not defined in the topology. You must ensure that the sql server store that is used for the central management store"
I even deleted the configuration store location using the command, Remove-CSConfigurationStorelocation and tried to republish the topology, but still getting a few errors.

Basically I would like to redefine the topology with External FQDN as my certificate holds External FQDN.  It would be good if you can help me with how to proceed.

Regards,
Raj

Another company would like us to participate in a Jabber video conference. We have no Jabber infrastructure at our company. Is jabber Windows client a free download that we could then just point at their jabber server?

I'm not having any luck getting these to work together. I downloaded a trial of Skype business server 2015 to see if this is something we wish to pursue. I believe I got the server working but I cannot get the server and my 3300 to communicate. All I'm looking for is Remote Call Control (RCC). Hunting through the many articles on the Internet and it looks like I need the Mitel Live Business Gateway t make this work but I cannot get a copy of this anywhere (license or trial). Anyone know where I can get a trial of this? or know of another gateway product that will do the same thing?

we would like to disable only missed conversation e-mail notification on Lync 2013, but still want to save im history for 30 days under "conversation folder"
basically we want to make sure any IM via Lync clients is stored for 30 days including missed conversations.

we have a policy on lync 2013 server to keep conversations for 30 days.
conversation history is getting updatedbut missed conversations are staying in outlook/inbox beyond 30 day period.

we don't want to implement any outlook client based rules.

I have two offices where I would like to promote working together by having a constant live feed into the other office.  I'd like to set up two 40 inch TVs with cameras on top.  The idea being they will be a "window in the other office and promote interactions between staff without having to physically go to the other office.

A persistent skype connection would be the easiest, but in my neck of the woods our internet connection is not that fast so I'd rather the service work only on our internal LAN and have no effect on your internet connections.

I can only find solutions that connect over an internet connection.  Any ideas for LAN based video conferencing that i could throw on to a TV somehow?

I did a .arf recording using WebEx Recorder. I would like to remove the first minute of the recording.

Tried doing it using WebEx Recorder but it turns out that it only edits .wrf files.

Then I found this link which pointed to an Article, which unfortunately is a broken link.

https://communities.cisco.com/message/82281

Can someone please help me with this. If I need some converters to convert it to another format would appreciate if you could point me to some free software which could do that.

The size of the .arf file is around 50MB and it is a 12 minute recording.

Thank You

hi, I have a student who has been asked to have Skype for business installed on his works pc to work with the university. for about a year. I was looking at the Skype for business online plan 2.
as a business we have a windows 2008 small business server and no lync/Skype for business on the domain.

If the student was to have the Skype for business installed on his work pc, would it interfere with outlook on his work email address, whilst registering Skype for business on his personal address ?

what were trying to do, is have it on his works outlook, but work with the university system at the same time to have meetings and desktop sharing.

I have an existing Lync2013 server and Edge pool that I have just upgraded to SFB2015, during the upgrade process it comes up with an error that I can move past that is
•      This topology contains the following servers or clusters that use a NetBIOS name as the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) value, which is not supported.  Please update the NetBIOS name to an FQDN, for example pool01.contoso.com.

I have now done the upgrade but I can no longer call from my client to myself, also running SFB2015.

Process was upgrade my own SFB2015 - all good; communications between both OK
Upgrade clients and can now no longer communicate...can IM, but cannot enable calls, they just stop, but have an error
Condition failed with 80ee002a

I cannot see anyway to fix the FQDN on the SFB server, but the thing I don't get is that it is a FQDN....so I can't understand where the NetBIOS part is being pulled from.

Please help
