Our company is in the process of having all departments put together a disaster recovery plan.  My dept is IT.  We are a small Non-Profit company with 3 locations, 9 servers, 58 workstations, Exchange, mixed 2003/2008 servers.

What I was hoping for is an Expert that would be willing to donate a copy of their disaster recovery plan so I don't have to start from square one.  I'm not lazy, I just figured why re-invent the wheel when it's been done thousands of times.  I'm also the only IT so my time is limited.

I recently graduated college with a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems. I have been applying for jobs, but not gettit too much luck. My resume has been done professionally and looks good, but still nothing. I am looking for system analyst, process analyst, business analyst, and/or project coordinator/manager. THe only current certification I have is A+. I have done help desk in the past and some project work with six sigma. My current role is an Operations Analyst (6 months so far) but the job is not for me.

I know there is a CBAP, but you need logged hours as a BA for that so no luck. I know there is a PMP degree and CAPM from PMBROK but again need hours logged. Microsoft no longer offers MCSD degree. I can go get green belt certified, but not sure if it will help.

So my question is, which is the best road to go down? I want to eventually become a manager and work on my ITIL cert. I also love to do process improvement and work on projects. I like both the business and IT side equally. So what is my best bet? I am trying to get a job as a system analyst or data anaylst just to get experience.

So, should I:

1. Get Six Sigma Green Belt?
2. Get CAMP OR Compita Project+??
3. Or different cert?
4. OR other?

I am just curious how other IT support personnel in corporations handle employees bringing in their "personal" laptops to get viruses removed.
In my environment, we use the Citrix, and so, employees will use their personal systems to access our remote web interface.

The problem is, time to time, people with viruses/infections on their laptops have so many issues that they can't even get to the web browser or online plug-in.

So they figure "hey, since I'm trying to work, but I can't, I'll just bring in the laptop to get it fixed".

Next thing you know helpdesk gives me this system, no questions asked, and I find myself faced with Mrs. Smith's Acer or John Doe's Toshiba (non-company laptops) with 50 infections and multiple fraudware/malware popups going on at once. No company policy or manager's care apparently, either.

Hello experts,

I am working on a presentation for the upper management that would list all work and tasks achieved, projects completed and ones hand by IT department throughout the year. I may also include future plans.

I am looking for something that is attractive and at the same time efficient.

I want my presentation to pay off for my department’s hard work that has been done throughout the year. How the management see my presentation is going to play an essential role in this year's appraisals.

Where do I start? Is there any template to follow? Do I use animation? Do I use snapshots? Any recommended software? What are the milestones and points that I should mention that I don’t be very technical but at the same time cover all needed aspects?

P.s.
If anyone thinks I have posted this question in the wrong zone then please do not hesitate to let me know.

I am an IT consultant - started fixing people's computers a decade ago, and have expanded what I do since then as my experience has grown.  I now do a little of everything.  I am going to be relocating soon and I am trying to decide how to best market myself in a new area.  My main question is about the Microsoft Partner Network.  I've never really looked into it and am wondering what it's all about.  I see there are several "levels" of Microsoft Partners but can one simply "join" the Network and put it on a resume/qualifications list?  Obviously, I could read the dozens of pages on the MPN site, but what I'd like is just a quick summary of the program and how it might benefit (if at all) a one-man-consultant small business.

Hi guys,

I have a unique situation.  A law firm with two attorneys sharing one hosted Exchange mailbox.  They like it this way to be in control of all emails, this is how they have been for years.  They also like to CC each other while sending email, this way tripling and quadrupling the size of the mailbox and running out of space often.

The problem comes when they want to archive to Personal Folders.  If one archives to a Personal Folder attached to that Outlook, another cannot access it.  I cannot attach one Personal Folder PST file to both outlooks.

So the solutions I see:
Increase the mailbox size, although lawyers are stingy and would not prefer that.
Create a 2nd mailbox for another attorney.
What else?

Thoughts?

I have to sort through a large collection of documents in PDF format as well as photos of misc. retail products.

This is going to be about a 6 month project if I have to do this manually; there are hundreds of thousands of files, and I will probably shoot myself in the face instead of finish, as it is incredibly boring work.

About 8 out of 10 of the PDFs are exact duplicates; I want to find them and delete them.  Although the file names are different, creation dates are different, etc., the contents of the files are identical.  If I could just identify and remove them it would cut my sorting time by like 90%, but I can't find a good freeware program to do it.

For the retail product images, about 90% are duplicates, some with identical file contents, but most are of the same image, only the image has been cropped or resized.  I know Google Picasa can identify human faces belonging to the same person; is there something in desktop software that can do the same thing with similar images, exactly like tineye.com finds all similar images on the web?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, scripting, VB code, batch files, you name it, I'll take it.

I not understand the following sentences: -

Not all NLP applications require a full parse of sentences, therefore the remaining challenges in parsing of prepositional phrase attachment and conjunction scoping no longer confuse those applications for which phrasal and clausal dependencies are sufficient.

NLP meaning Natural Language Processing

Can any body explain to me by very simple.

I am looking for a career shift in the IT world and would like to know what it takes to come a good Linux administrator. I am a big VMware buff and I manage our ESXi environment in my job, and I see that a lot of VMware admins need a good Linux background. Any advise would help.

Greetings,

about to go through an audit. I have no idea what they will be doing as I have not been told anything except that an audit will start this afternoon or tomorrow morning. The audit is being conducted by the company who managed the network before I was brought in-house. Anything I should be aware of (general stuff)? Also, they are asking me to provide a detailed inventory of hardware, software, support agreements, etc. Should I supply that? I thought they should be telling me what they find.

Anyway, thanks.

Hi guys/gals.

Work has offered to train me up so that I become certified, a little while ago I asked for training options and did some self training. but now I have opportunities to really get skilled up with a heavy commitement to ensure my training needs are fully met.

I am looking at going it all the way with Cisco, MCITP with exchange 2010, and have still got support for two other training options. probably do Prince II project management...

So need to know what reccomendations are for training. what would you think would be key?

I am looking at the Cisco path. not sure which way to go. we are all cisco here. our ASA's, core switch, Voip, wireless etc.... so there is plenty to get dirty with.

The path options that I will work towards and hopefully get my brain certified in as an expert level would be for one of the paths listed here.

Routing & Switching - CCIE Routing & Switching Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
Service Provider - CCIE Service Provider Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
Storage - CCIE Storage Networking Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
Security - CCIE Security Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
Voice - CCIE Voice Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
Wireless - CCIE Wireless Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert
Design - CCDE Cisco Certified Design Expert

I really want to make my worth a lot more then what it is. So really trying to future proof my self professionaly. …
